It's been coming for a few weeks but that was the Ryan Jack we've been waiting for. I thought he was outstanding, imperious at times. Beale was so right to keep feeding him minutes. To the extent it's possible, Beale must keep at least two of this midfield three in the starting line up. I thought the big difference tonight was the sheer work rate and positivity throughout the team. If only we had taken that team and attitude to Hampden ten days ago ......

This midfield just works .... and the front three ain't so bad either. Looks like Colak is off and running again, I think it's vital he remains first choice now. But ... yet another back post fiasco for the Hibs goal. How many goals do we have to lose before we fix this particular weakness? Good game to watch.

Great work. Whether or not it ultimately proves to be wholly accurate, it's a stat I'll be carrying with me from now on.

I'm not sure Pedro even knew he was making mistakes, which is maybe why he never seemed to learn from them.
-
π Of course, you're right. I forgot about that

Surely that can't be true.

The only way out of the OF financial deficit is to have a better manager than they have. That was easy when Lennon was there and 55 duly appeared. As soon as Postecoglou appeared and we appointed GvB the advantages Gerrard had enjoyed just evaporated. I guess that's why Beale's bizarre approach to the cup final team selection last week has had such a numbing effect.

I still don't understand. I guess I haven't had my ear to the gossip grindstone.
-
I've no idea what you're talking about but I'll be sitting at home watching the game on RTV, assuming we're broadcasting it.
-
I don't understand, why would anyone fly to France when you can watch it on RTV here at home? As for giving money to Hibs ......
-
I think they know that already. They know exactly what needs to be done. The problem lies in the doing, not in the knowledge. For some reason, at times these players seem incapable of delivering what they fully understand is required. It has to be a flaw in the psyche of certain members of the squad and suggests no amount of coaching will change the situation.

What do you consider would be significant numbers? Buster can hardly guess what you would consider to be significant. I think you need to be more specific in your debating. -

Unfortunately no one can guarantee that, no matter how much money we spend. If manager and DoF are any good at all they will already know who they want but getting them will be another thing. How do we get another Brian Laudrup today?

I still can't get my head around Beale's decision in an all-or-nothing cup final to leave out the two players he specifically signed to strengthen a midfield he's been standing on the touchline watching underperform week after week. If only Beale had come out after the game and said "Guys, I fucked up, I made a huge mistake and I'm sorry" then I could start to lose this gnawing suspicion that we're still on the same old rollercoaster to nowhere.

A lot is being written about Raskin at the moment and I also find his mobility and aggression very exciting - but he's going to take a while to settle in fully. In my opinion, Todd Cantwell outshone him yesterday but it was Ryan Jack who provided the required 90 minutes of consistent midfield play. What I really did like in that first half was Jack and Raskin combining to produce balls into the channels. They actually have a lot in common.

Frankly, I think Ryan Kent is the least of our worries and has been generally very productive since Beale took over. Kent is a good player with undoubted talent and is no more inconsistent than any of the great wingers who have graced this club. What he gives us will be as good as the manager's ability to get the best out of him.

A balanced assessment. π
