From what I've heard, Gardyne said he called Morelos a 'fanny' but Goldson thought he heard him say 'fairy'. Either way, I had no idea footballers were such a sensitive bunch.

Any answer to this (it's a genuine question)?

A Flemish guy called Bert drove a tourist route bus I was on in South Africa. He wasn't a football fan (I checked). Hopefully we're still in great form when we play this lot. Qualifying for the last 16 two years running would be a very good achievement.

We have been performing well with him in the side. His goalscoring form seems to be on the wane but he does significant work nonetheless, particularly drawing defenders out of position which creates space for others. Your comment about his temperament getting worse if we keep him is baseless.

I'm not sure about that. I don't think opinions have altered much, excepting a few knee-jerk reactions.

Someone so prone to bouts of petulance is unlikely to keep it subdued forever.

We just need to keep winning. We'd have scored a barrel load if any of our forwards were in form today. Itten or Defoe should've replace Alfie sooner. Kent and Roofe both showed good movement but little end product.

We played well and totally controlled the match against opponents with no real intent about them. Our problem was our inability to finish them off. Good to get a win in a difficult fixture, especially when the forwards were far from their best. Three points is what it's all about.

Good way to end the half. We need to be more clinical - Morelos and Kent both need to do more.

I think I prefer Walker on co-commentary. McCoist's humour is on a par with his management skills. I'm not sure there's much point trying to play high crosses against this defence. We won't be winning any headers.

It's an interesting consideration. His general discipline has improved a lot but his ability to leave defenders for dead and score regularly have decreased. I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Benfica are keeping tabs on him.

Another big game (aren't they all). I expect our opponents to play a defensive game and to be up for a scrap, so we'll need to be switched on, disciplined and not get frustrated if things don't go our way. I'd love to give them a good stuffing.

He is playing a different sort of role this season, which is working well for the team but makes him less of a focal point - which isn't something we're used to. His performances are a bit hot and cold - at Benfica he looked like a £30m player but in other matches his passing and link up play is poor (in patches). I'm a big fan and think his new role is very important to how we're currently performing, albeit there's room for improvement.
