Carroll's has had his problems over the past few years, and I think he has done the correct thing with NI. He has withdrawn from the two away trips to Latvia and Icelend to stay in Glasgow and try to sharpen up. He is by no means first pick for club of country, so he has to try his best to impress the Rangers staff. AFAIK there are 'bounce' games scheduled for the next week, so perhaps he'll get a chance to show them what he can do. As an NI fan I am saddened that he hasn't linked up with the squad, but I can understand his reasons, and I have to respect them.

Nah, I think it is my poor cutting and pasting skills. The paragraph should read:

Gers Sign Youth Trio Looks like we're also trying to bring in some good youngsters too. Obviously we've done this in the past and it hasn't worked, fingers crossed that it will on this occasion.
-
Looks like it. Pretty pleased about it - we need him for the group stages.

WOOOOOOO!! COME ON! Get up the road lad and sign on the dotted line! -
What position does this kid play? He is described in the media as 'Norwegian wonderkid', so I'm assuming he's an attacking midfielder/winger/striker.

To be honest I forgot all about Gow. Hopefully he can make his competitive debut soon. -
From Evening Times: Rangers sweat Hemdani exit Hemdani must be very unhappy at Ibrox if he appears so desperate to move. I wonder is he still feels the same given our draw? We need him for those games - he is that important to us.
-
Nah, his or anyone else's nationality isn't a problem for me. It is the actions that a person takes that are more important.
-
As will Carlos Cuellar!
-
That is my point! He should stick to the business aspects of football rather than attempt to sign players the manager (who he hired) doesn't want. Now perhaps Mandaric has an ace up his sleeve that will see Leicester making a swift return to the Premier League, and if they do I'll hold my hands up and say he was right to get rid of Allen. I wasn't just picking on Mandaric, the same goes for all chairmen who interfere in team affairs.
-
Allen ends brief Leicester reign Looks like Mandaric and Allen fell out over Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Mandaric had negotiated with him to sign permanently, whereas Allen wanted him on trial. I have a certain amount of sympathy for Allen, surely medelling chairmen like Mandaric (and Romanov etc) must drive managers nuts!
-
Is he in the last year of his contract? Is that the reason we'd be willing to let him go so that we get some sort of fee for him? As you say he was POTY last year so why would we want to get rid of him, surely that shows a lack of ambition. It looks like it won't happen, but the deadline is Friday night so anything can happen!
-
I still find it hard to believe that we would let him go for about £1 million. Surely he's worth much more than that?
-
I'd be happy enough with this, so long as he eventually does sign for us. As has been pointed out in a previous post we do have enough cover up front. I would think that perhaps we should try to strengthen the midfield.
-
Absolutely. It just shows how the TV money they get inflates the prices of players. For example Henry went to Barca for £16.1m and Darren Bent went to Spurs for £16.5m. Madness!
-
Should beef up the Everton attack quite a bit. Andrew Johnson has had a very slow start so far this season and I'd expect them to be challenging for the UEFA cup this year.
-
Cheers calscot! Make sense now. Fingers crossed we have a good run in Europe this season then!

Exactly. This time last year we might have crumbled. The guys comments are still valid however, I'm not sure what Walter will do. Would Buffel fill the role, or is he still considered too lazy and lightweight? -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/6966524.stm I don't understand this transfer. Great bit of business by Fulham, as Knight has been a liability for them for ages. He's up there with Titus Bramble for me...

LOL! Just heard on 5 Live there that West Ham have bid £5m for Nicky Shorey, so perhaps McCartney will become available? -
Not really surprising. Hopefully we get him at the 5th(?!) attempt.

Well we've been linked with George McCartney. He picked up a calf injury playing for West Ham last night though. Not sure they would sell him however as Curbs seems quite happy with him at the moment.
