Thanks for all that.

However, that seems to me to point to poor judgement by the medical team (not for the first time I grant you), not that the Club in general "is living in an old boys' bubble where intelligence and commonsense are alien concepts." as Hildy suggested. And injured or not he scored 21 goals in 38 appearances last season, despite often looking cumbersome (perhaps due to carrying an injury); not a bad retrun even in the 3rd division.

What is the issue with the statement about Daly being injured and how does that make "intelligence and commonsense alien concepts"?

From Rangers:

JON DALY will be sent for a scan as Rangers try to get to the bottom of the knee problem which has ruled him out of the club’s Northern Tour.

The Irish striker struggled with it towards the end of last season and it was felt at that stage rest during the summer break would allow him to recuperate fully.

But the former Dundee United player has continued to feel uneasy and he is set to see a specialist in the days ahead.

Manager Ally McCoist said: “Jon has been feeling his knee over a couple of days in training and he felt it towards the end of last season as well.

“He is going for a scan and once we get the results from that we’ll be in a better position and place to give more information.

“Our view last season was the problem was fatigue more than anything and that the rest would let him come back fresh and raring to go again.

“That was certainly the case at the start of pre-season but after two or three days he could feel a niggle.

“Our physio Stevie Walker and the doc felt a scan was the best idea to put everyone’s minds at rest and hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”

The above statement from the club is nothing short of a disgrace. The problem was noted last season and despite the player having a history of knee problems, it was put down to fatigue. Despite the title being wrapped up, the player retained his place in the team so if it was fatigue, it was hardly going to get any better.

Instead of having a scan last term, we wait until the new campaign is about to begin, and now he's going to be scanned.

Any problem should have been diagnosed and treated months ago - not at this late stage when the player is known to have a history of knee problems.

Problems with the board are well documented but they extend into other areas too. This latest farce is inexcusable.

I think we used to do scans as a matter of course as although they are very expensive, when you're paying someone over 10 grand a week, it's a drop in the ocean.

It sounds like it's somewhere that the board are cutting back on to save money.

Surely we pay an annual healthcare premium and that's it, scans are then shooty in ...........

Our main striker should be hitting 40/50 + in the third tier of Scottish football.

Kris Commons scored 32 goals last season from midfield playing at a much higher level.

Doesn't mean Commons would have scored more in a lower division against weaker opponents. Could he ? Of course. But there is every chance he wouldn't have either.

And that "much higher level" isn't that much higher, IMHO. The SPL isn't a particularly high standard, the disparity between the SPL and the other leagues below it has shrunk markedly in the last few years.

Not many people score 40-50 goals at any level. Yes, Ronaldo & Messi have, but they are the exception rather than the norm. Accepted that our set of circumstances are somewhat peculiar too though.

I'm not defending Daly's strike rate by the way.
