Third Allan bid rejected

Recommended Posts

He will be on a free in the summer but you can bet your bottom dollar Hibs are trying to sell him to anybody but Rangers as I type this. They don't want an unhappy player in their team. They just don't want to sell to Rangers.

Wigan and Rotherham in for him too. Hibs will have both teams on speed dial to ensure he doesn't go to us.

It's up to Allan at the end of the day. Hibs can accept bids from other teams all they want but it doesn't mean Allan will go

HIBERNIAN have thrown out a £375,000 bid for Scott Allan from Rotherham.

The Scotsman’s sister paper, the Evening News, has revealed that talks with the Millers are set to continue and another bid is likely before the end of the transfer window.

However, it is understood that both clubs are at odds over their valuations of Allan, who scored the second goal in Hibernian’s 3-0 cup win over Montrose at the weekend.

Allan, 23, submitted a transfer request last week, and is keen on a move to boyhood heroes Rangers.

The Ibrox club have had three bids of £175,000, £225,000 and £280,000 for Allan rejected by Hibs, who remain adamant that the former Dundee United and West Brom midfielder is not for sale.

Hibs are understood to be happy for Allan to leave on a free at the end of the season and insist that, if the player leaves before then, his destination will not be Ibrox.

Rotherham boss Steve Evans told the Evening News: “Any transfer business we do will remain confidential between the clubs.

“From a distance, one wonders why news of clubs bidding and not bidding gets out. We will not do that.

“We will deal directly with Hibernian should we pursue any interest in Scott Allan.”

Rangers poised to make fourth bid for Scott Allan

07:30Thursday 06 August 2015

Rangers are refusing to accept defeat in their pursuit of Scott Allan and are poised to launch a fourth bid for Hibs’ talisman.

The midfielder, who is also the subject of interest from Rotherham United, handed in a transfer request last week and made it clear that he wished to move to Ibrox.

However, Hibs have stated continuously that they will not sell their star man to their main Championship title rivals and on Tuesday they rejected a third offer from Rangers, in the region of £280,000.

Nonetheless, this has not discouraged the Glasgow club, who are set to come again with an improved bid.

Asked about the situation at yesterday’s pre-match media briefing ahead of Rangers’ Championship opener against St Mirren tomorrow, Mark Warburton confirmed that a third bid had been rejected this week, but the Ibrox manager wouldn’t be drawn on his club’s next move.

“Another bid went in and has been rejected,” he said. “As far as I’m aware, that’s the situation. It’s up to the powers that be. He’s not my player. I’m not avoiding the question, but he’s not my player and it is disrespectful to speak about other players.”

Rotherham manager Steve Evans was also coy on his side’s interest in the Hibs midfielder, although the player is thought to have little interest in joining the English Championship side.

“Any transfer business we do will remain confidential between the clubs,” said Evans. “From a distance, one wonders why news of clubs bidding and not bidding gets out. We will not do that. We will deal directly with Hibernian should we pursue any interest in Scott Allan.”

Hibs admit they have had tentative enquiries from other clubs since Allan handed in his transfer request, but insist that Rangers are the only club to have made any official offers. They remain committed to their stance of not selling to the Ibrox side.

We shall see. The last line is a bit strange, as the very same newspaper claimed that Rotherham had a 375k bid rejected ...
