Kenny Miller in midfield! I give up. If we are badly beaten today he should be sacked. No ifs buts or maybes. Playing players outwith their positions just to fit a formation is madness

 

In midfield Kenny Miller moves back into midfield and slots in to replace Matt Crooks. He is joined by Jason Holt and Andy Halliday in the middle.

 

I apologise trublu, it does indeed look like Miller is in midfield... FFS!

I can see 4-4-2 in the line-up, but the website says Miller in midfield, so maybe the same 4-3-3? I initially thought it was simply McKay that would play deeper, which he's done before.

Since I wrote much of it before, I simply adapt my earlier post

 

(I'd give Tavernier* and Miller a rest from the starting line up.) Unless, as some have suggested, we try Miller in a more central, creative role, maybe resting Holt. Their movement is pretty similar, only that Holt also tackles back. Might enable Miller to support the main striker better. (We do need people willing to try and shoot from all angles, so I'd go with Forrester, Dodoo as well as Waghorn (who will be yearning for a start and claim a starting slot back).)

 

So I assume the line-up will be more like ...

 

Foderingham

 

Hodson - Kiernan - Hill - Wallace

 

Halliday

 

Holt - Miller

 

O'Halloran - Garner - McKay

 

Hodson can work the right wing, with us switching to three at the back, pending which fullback goes forward. Halliday the holding player, Miller and (Forrester) the creative force in midfield.

 

Hope McKay is up for game from the start. He was given the No. 10 jersey but has as not yet grown into it.

If you remind yourself of our games this season, Miller is everywhere from the half-way line and the penalty area, roving constantly about ... and occasionally posting missing on the left flank (where he supposedly is slotted) or in the penalty area. So him in a secondary striker / attacking midfielder-role enables him that freedom, while the wing is occupied.
