Tomorrow's game has just moved from the "vital" column to the "season defining" one IMO...6 points
-
Ive just returned to the forum recently and havent mentioned this before, but watching games from afar and hearing that drum has to be one of the most annoying things - on par with Cling Film sticking when trying to unwrap it.6 points

Hope they do turn up tomorrow - the game is Sunday......6 points

Both had very good teams. As we have experienced over a few years a good team will usually beat eleven comparatively stellar individuals. I don’t think any of the DU champions would get into the also rans in the Gersnet lists. Narey? Sturrock? Milne? Hegarty? Aberdeen had better individual players. Leighton, Miller, Strachan and from earlier times Martin Buchan and Graham Leggatt but you wouldn’t have Buchan ahead of Tam Forsyth who had plenty of mentions but I think, no nominations. Surprisingly, Hibs had better players than any of the others. Apart from the historical five, they had Stanton, the best of the lot, Baker, Brownlie, Hamilton and Martin. I could see all of these in blue but I doubt if even Stanton would displace any of the final selection. The best other team was the Dundee champion side. No weak links, all above average and Brown, Ure and Gilzean absolute stars as evidenced by their departures to ‘Spurs and Arsenal.3 points

We don't talk anymore. It's so funny, RAB and Tam finished today's show with an old Cliff Richard song and dedicated it to Michael Stewart and the Rangers team. It is the third/fourth week in a row they have raised the ongoing situation between the former Sellik TV Ginja Ninja and Rangers. Even the regular stand in, Ray Bradshaw was keen to amplify the situation last week. The PQ Gang Hut appear determined to turn up and maintain the amplification at eleven on this particular matter. I suspect they hope the white noise generated will drown out their deafening silence on another, 'we don't talk anymore' situation? Four years past, Michael chose to utilise the Kenny Macintyre show to flash his credentials and ensure continuous PQ employment, "I don't like Rangers, I don't like the way they do things as a club". Why would Rangers and Rangers supporters want to engage further? Michael is a freelance, he retained his trial by Sportscene gig because every week, Rangers were the Accused and Mad Mick was unerringly consistent in finding Rangers guilty. Tom English is a staffer his designation : BBC Scotland's Chief Sports Writer and Broadcaster. Since summer and Brendan Rodgers return to Glasgow's east end, Peter Lawwell has demanded an apology for a penned English piece stating the truth reference Brendan's departure to Leicester four years ago. The Limerick man has refused, he stands by his stated opinion. Lawwell has banned him, he is officially not welcome at Sellik Lennoxtown Pressers and Sellik home games. We know PQ are big on principles, Rangers and Rangers supporters endured withdrawal of service because the club withdrew Chris McLaughlin's(another staffer) press credentials. However, in the Tom English case, PQ send whoever Peter wants and service is not interrupted. Time to paraphrase another Irishman; as Oscar Wilde said, this we don't talk anymore situation has become the lovers tiff that dare not speak it's name. While we are on the hoary old quotes thing, let's do another fave rave, George Orwell, "journalism is printing someone else does not want printed : everything else is public relations". Pq's desire to continually shout out Michael Stewart's self induced situation whilst completely ignoring the Sellik - Tom English spat is preferred PR. It's so funny?3 points

It was still Neds there also. Going to school there I was a victim a few times of so called hardmen in groups who picked the easy target of 2 teenagers. Scott is correct though Teuchters are from the towns and villages going west and north and by no certain terms would I be a Teuchter 😄. This was always their cup final when I was going to Pittodrie but we had an immense record there in the 90s and 00s. It was a great day out and a home game for me. The games when I didnt have a ticket in advance - there was nothing better than going up to Altens area as a 16 / 17 year old with cold cans of Tennents waiting for the Gers buses come through to get a ticket. Have to say I dont know much about the current Aberdeen team but if Celtic just put 6 past them then they cant be great despite raising their game on Sunday. But I am looking forward to the game - there is just something refreshing about our games at the moment since Beale left.3 points

Good news. Perhaps a Clement signing. Anyone know how Lovelace fitness is? He is the youngster who I think could be brilliant. A superb debut but gets croaked in total Rangers fashion.2 points

The fact that most Rangers fans can't imagine this ever happening is a clear measure of how the world has gone to shit over the last 50 years. The wonderful, united, compassionate country you and I remember is gone forever.2 points

Im probably in a minority but I have never minded Barisic and always thought he was one of the best crossers of a ball we've had in a long time. He is far from the complete full back but always puts in a shift. He's another who would be much better with a back 3 and less defensive responsibilites. Clement will be looking for his own players in the summer and it will be time for Barisic to move on but we have had far worse in that position over the years and I think he has had some unjustified stick at times when there has been far worse performers. And as Cammy just said Ive have him ahead of Ridvan at the moment.2 points

Back in the day, a trip to Furryboots City was the seasonal highlight for the majority of west, central based RSCs. The club Secretary would book the bus into a Hotel in Stonehaven/city Masonic club for a purvey fish lunch, enjoy the game and, refreshment stop in Perth/Aucterarder/Blackford, pour off the bus back home around Midnight. A 14-15 hour day was endured for the Rangers. Then, Aberdeen FC and their supporters decided we were their rivals. I blame Lewis Grassic Gibbon and the Scots Quair; all that incest and repressed homosexuality, fair puts you off your cullen skink.2 points

The East coast equivalent of the Ned is the "Schemie". I don't know if that term is used as far North as Aberdeen. What I do know is that when East coast types fulminate against or about West coast Neds, a mere mention of the speech, behaviour, and lifestyle, of the Schemie is enough to clam and clamp them. Wankers. Aberdonians? I have struggled for years to find a word which adequately conveys the utter contempt in which I hold them, having had the misfortune to work with such fowk, some years ago. They are, as I see it, transparently Rubes, Hillbilly types (without the musical talent). I would welcome any suggestions for an appropriate, accurate, pejorative label. "Teuchters" are, traditionally, native Gaelic speakers.2 points

By God he was. Hearts couldn’t manage him properly but Stein transformed him when he went to Hibs. Suggestions that on Friday nights Stein took him into “protective custody”. Should have added Peter Cormack and Jimmy O’Rourke to the list of hibbees above.1 point

You’ll not see me poncing about like that. Barbour now until mid-May, Crombie for funerals. Both have adequate pockets. Wonder what’s in his bag.1 point

Wasn't that rule only applicable for European compitions? Was a decent game and City paid for not killing the game off. Result suits Arsenal and Spurs.1 point

That's such good news and maybe is another reflection of a squad committing to a manager they can respect. A star is born?1 point

That fucking drum is beyond depressing but its demented monotony is the perfect accompaniment to the dull-minded rabble displaying like preening parrots at every game. Why do they need a drum to support the team?1 point

Ridvan (and Borna) both need to be moved on and replaced. Currently, I'd have Borna ahead of Ridvan (even when he's fit) but neither are what we require moving forward.1 point

Undeniable. But as @Uilleam put it so well, without the musical talent and to be honest without the hills. Borders hills are better.1 point

West of the river Findhorn to be exact. West of Bucksburn we’re just ordinary countryfolk or fisherfolk.1 point

Your probably right about City scoring 3 or 4, but I also see Liverpool scoring on the break. Robertson is still missing for Liverpool and Trent cant defend. So perhaps a 4-2 could be more likely. United stole the points against Wolves, Forest, Brentford and Fulham, they sneaked past Burnley and Luton. On paper that would normally be maximum 18 points anyway and all bottom half teams. But things are away to get tougher for them, after Everton then have Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool coming up.1 point

Surely no one in their right mind is suggesting Clement’s tenure depends on these 12 games. Because that would be idiotic.1 point
