  1. On the 7th May 1856 our Founder William McBeath was born in the village of Callander. Willie’s dad Peter owned a general store on Callander’s Main Street and the family home was above the store which is now The Waverley Hotel. William had an older sister Jane and an older brother Peter. Another boy was born after William but he like so many other children of the time died in infancy. Tragically, his dad Peter McBeath passed in November 1864. Shortly afterwards, his wife took William and his sister Jane to Glasgow to start a new life. By the time of the 1871 census, the McBeaths were living at 17 Cleveland Street, living in the same close were five members of the McNeil family, including brothers Peter and William. It was here that the boys first made contact. The following year,at the beginning of 1872,the boys had the idea to form a football team. William McBeath played in our first ever match v Callander and according to fellow Ranger William Dunlop ‘’ was awarded man of the match then spent a week in bed recovering due to his exertions’’! In 1874 at the age of just 17 William was elected as Rangers first ever President. By 1878, he was a commercial traveler and had moved to the Crosshill area of Glasgow after marrying a Jeannie Harris. Within a year, the family had moved to Bristol in what was almost certainly the most settled and happiest period of William’s life. In 1884 at the Club’s ‘Annual Hop’ his friends and fellow Founders honoured William for the role he played in its conception and presented him with a gold badge. This was at an event held in the St.Andrews Hall which is at the rear of today’s Mitchell Library in Glasgow. Sadly, the remaining period of William McBeath’s life is clouded in mist. What happened to cause a breakdown in the happy family life of the McBeaths is uncertain.William’s son Norman was sent to Glasgow to live with his grandmother.Norman McBeath died in Glasgow, aged eighty-three, in 1973. William last few years make for unpleasant reading. He moved from town to town, found himself in court on charges of fraud (of which he was acquitted) and married for a second time. He moved to Lincoln and stayed at 57 Cranwell Street and 34 Vernon Street. Tragically the deterioration in William McBeath’s life continued until his death in a workhouse at Lincoln in 1917. He was certified‘’imbecile”.The evidence of his state of health suggests he had actually suffered from Alzheimer’s.Medical terminology back then was brutal to say the least. William McBeath was buried in an unmarked, pauper’s grave in Lincoln Cemetery but there is a happy ending to his story. During his research for the Gallant Pioneers book Gary Ralston found William’s final resting place. The grave is now marked with a fitting stone which was paid for by the worldwide Rangers support and placed there by a group of fellow supporters. Today we remember Founder William McBeath.

  2. So they've managed to read a 200 page document in circa 1hr (1 page every 20 seconds) of a document they weren't sent, then type and release a statement dismissing the dossier? Wow, that's impressive work considering most of their staff are on furlough.....

  3. The SPFL were doing everything they could to complete the season & give the yahoos the title despite there being 8 or 9 games left. They were prepared to offset a £10m liability from SKY by giving them free sponsorship rights to the SPFL over the next few seasons which would have resulted in a financial shortfall. How could anyone with a modicum of intelligence agree to that ? (except the yahoos of course)

  4. Maybe I am being an optimist but this now has the makings of blowing Scottish football wide open.... and that will be something that Doncaster, McKenzie, Shifty, Lawwell & Celtic will be very, very keen to prevent from happening.

  5. Apparently the document was sent to clubs only, with a rider that it was legally sensitive, and should not be shared. Yet, within two shakes of a lapdog's tail, the SPFL has it.

  6. Compare and contrast Stewart Robertson's open, honest and professional interview tonight to the contrived, staged and closed interview Dungcaster conducted at the weekend (in addition to the truly Bizzare shifty self-Q&A). It is also worth re-listening to the Doncaster interview when Dick Gordon questions him on any potential loss of earnings from sponsorship if we called the league. He stutters, side-steps and then question - he knew he'd be caught and "deflected" the question.

  7. Why does anyone want to know what Roger Mitchell thinks ? He was a complete failure at the SPL. Same goes for Stewart Regan. Just examples of lazy journalism

  8. This is really well presented by Rangers and there is so much in there that was not made public before. If members are asked to make decisions without material disclosures, ND has no option but to go. Furthermore, if RM or MM knew about these then they have to go too. This is exciting. The legal counsel is spot on in terms of the material breaches of their fiduciary responsibilities. If that's any other director/chairman of any other company they will be struck off and be unable to be a director again (at least for some time). Sometimes small to medium sized businesses (which is what all clubs are) are given a bit of leeway but I don't imagine that high profile businesses can be afforded this same luxury. This is definitely the end of Doncaster at least. I just wonder if he will take all the blame and allow RD and MM to remain. Rangers has enough to take this to court but I wonder if they will. Even if ND avoids charges, his reputation is surely in tatters and as a result will have to be removed via a no confidence vote (which might be their next tactical move). I would prefer this route because he might then be encouraged to speak up and take the other chancers down with him. If we take the litigious route, they may all clam up and then it's down to how much evidence exists to take down RD and MM. As someone said earlier, this is time for the popcorn. I hope we hear from the other clubs now. Surely no other director at the SPFL will want to be seen to be supporting this trio now because they're all dead men walking. If they take legal advice they'll be told to be seen to be pushing for this 'possible' corruption to be investigated. If not, they could find themselves implicated. In some cases I hope they are because many of them are guilty.

  9. They responded just over 1hr after Rangers circulated the document even tho the document wasn't sent to them. Think about that, they took 1hr to respond to an email they didn't receive from Rangers, but couldn't find an email sent to them from Dundee. Anyway their response was the predictible ; nothing to see here so bugger off you annoying huns. We even have Roger Mitchell tweeting today that if Rangers refuse to call the season, we should be deducted points.

  10. Rangers won't win anything at next week's meeting and they must know that. So presumably this is just a step along the way to a legal showdown

  11. I understand times are tough and getting tougher but I still haven't heard what it is people expect the club to do about it. I've said repeatedly the club should be actively cutting costs wherever possible but I find it hard to encourage it to cut income. Which is why I said several; pages back that fans who can't afford to renew shouldn't do so and those who can, should. But I think it's unrealistic to expect the club to cut prices so that more people can afford anew ST, certainly until it sees how the renewal programme is going.

  12. ... more like: if the EGM will yield no result, Rangers have a good case to go to court with, which might have been the plan anyway, given the nature of Scottish clansmanship in the SPFL. Going to court may very well draw UEFA's attention into this (though they should be at it anyway), and Scum FC may be denied any entrance into CL land.

  14. Why would anyone interact with Roger Mitchell? He's completely disingenuous so there is no point in responding or sharing his tweets. All you do is make him appear relevant.

  16. Does Roger think Rangers employing someone from the Unionist community, who has no criminal convictions and is a practicing Christian, is worse than Celtc re-employing a known paedophile? It'd be interesting to find out.

  18. As well as informing UEFA that they were calling the league BEFORE the vote and taken place. It's all unravelling and the rats are scurrying all over the place trying to rubbish our claims. They're worried, make no mistake

  19. Stewart Robertson has just been on RC and came across really well against an openly hostile panel (thought they were meant to be impartial) and has set the scene brilliantly. He has mentioned he has already received messages of support from other clubs and left the floor open for others to add their grievances. This has a long way to run before it's finished and for once we appear to be on the front foot and have all the evidence we require. He summed up by saying that if we lose the vote for an independent investigation then we would review other options open to us. I for one called for the board to come out fighting and they have with a well put together dossier and now a great follow up interview with a hostile anti-Rangers radio station- that's takin the fight behind enemy lines Worth noting that football expert Gordon Delziel admitted he hadn't read the dossier - that's the level of professionalism that gets paid to give opinion on our game

  20. Some bits to add on to Suns Bullet points* The SPFL know reconstruction talks are a sham as they require contract renegotiations with broadcasters - but didn’t tell the clubs.* The SPFL are guilty of appalling corporate governance - 15 sets of previous board minutes sat unapproved as recently as April 26, while non executive directors were given less than 24 hours to review a 118 page legal document on the resolution.

  21. In any other country they'd already be gone. There is sufficient evidence already in the public domain to sink them. However, if The Suns summary of the contents of the dossier are correct, we have a case and the SPFL must be forced to address these claims and be held accountable for any (sic) wrong doing
