  1. Why good riddance re Flanagan and not Alnwick or Halliday - your reason for good riddance to seeing the back of Flanagan could just as easily be applied to Halliday and Alnwick - neither of those are good enough to be one of us either, in playing terms. Saddens me that we get personal with players that leave - very few ever sign for a club and not give their all. Flanagan may not have been good enough but he never, ever lacked grit, fight and determination. Each to their own I guess.

  2. I am long past wearing a football top so I am not their target customer for replica strips, but if they fill the shops and online stores with other products, like we used to have in the 90's, then I could finally get back to spending money on merchandise. I used to buy tons of branded goods, from the big panoramic pictures to mousemats. It was always worth a wee browse round the shop to pick up another wee gift for myself or my son. I would love us to get back to that scenario. On the blog interview, it was the ultimate in puff pieces but informative from a PR exercise none the less. I would have liked to have seen a bit more interrogation though. Where was the questions about their being able to afford this partnership? Or being able to produce the quantity of stock that will be required? Or be able to dispatch it quickly and efficiently all around the world? What logistics for world-wide distribution do they have in place? Have a website that doesnt crash when it goes live? All problems we have seen from aligning ourselves with non-premium brands in the past. It seems we are prepared to take another punt with a player who has no idea what is about to hit them. As with all new partners/sponsors/players they get the benefit of the doubt to start with, so I wish them (and our club by default of course) every success in this partnership. They dont have long to get everything in place, so I hope they manage to pull this off in time. The Rangers supporters wont be long in letting them know if they fall short of their promises, but we will buy the stuff in record numbers if they get it right.

  3. Thank you for your positive support! That took a hell of a lot of time to do & we only got 30mins & as you will hear from podcast it’s full As for things I didn’t ask, other podcasts have covered it & I chose what I thought was key Getting the essentials of the financial aspects was huge & key for this & my aim stuff about fan engagement, megastore, Fanzone, kits without logos (something many of us have mentioned in here) is all great stuff

  4. Indeed Cammy, that's the only way to do it. The exit door is no place to select certain players for criticism while thanking others.

  5. I'm in agreement with you, but does that mean we have to thank Joey Barton too?!? That's a stretch for me I'm afraid. As for the current players leaving, this is obviously the right decision. They'll all find their level somewhere else. They all served the club well and as a fan it's great to see someone like Halliday get to live out the dream many of us have/had. He will clearly have hoped to have a winner's medal but I'm sure he will still enjoy celebrating in the stands with the rest of us when we get 55.

  6. That was my first thought also, given the timing. A bit of appeasement by the SFA/SPFL as if they were doing us a favour on this when it had not an earthly of success in the first place. It is either that or they were trying to sneak out this news under cover of awarding the bheasts their tainted title so as to not annoy the rabid hoard too much. That is probably closer to it.

  7. Watched some of the games on Saturday and although strange it did not bother me too much re. no fans/crowd noise as I often turn the sound off while watching as the inane ravings of commentators p****es me off.

  8. I'm quite shocked by the level of negativity rattling round this topic about a new kit no one has seen or had their hands on. It's verging on hysteria. No one will be forced to buy any merchandise they don't like or made by a company with an inadequate website. Ffs people, what is wrong with you? So you got up at 7 o'clock and didn't like the show, big deal.

  10. I don’t have time/patience for podcasts so I haven’t seen those questions put to Castore or the answers discussed anywhere, (Only use this site) so apologies if I’m behind the loop on those issues. i agree all the positives will be great stuff if and when it’s delivered. I take it your gut feeling from your 30 mins was that they are going to be able to fulfill the promises made? it was a great coup for you and your site to get the interview in the first place, congrats for that and keep up the good work.

  11. I've never really seen the point in slagging players too much, aye the odd shout or so, but it's not the players who pick themselves to play! the manager should get any criticism for selecting the players.

  13. Players come and go all the time some have success some dont but they will all be able to tell their grandchildren they played for Rangers.

  14. Flanagan not a great player but played in position was always solid backup in my opinion. Never hid in games and ran himself into the ground.

  16. Wes was a decent keeper for us coming back up. Halliday should have been a Cup Final hero - if only Warburton's side could have defended two corners

  17. Letting Wes run down his contract and not cashing in on him last summer or even 18 months ago was a huge mistake by the club. A once £3M rated player who wasnt in our first team has been fully paid up and allowed to leave for nothing. Not Wes's fault, this one is on the club. I know this pre-dates the current DofF but we cannot afford to be making mistakes like this, it reminds me too much of the Martin Bain era!

  18. So, after due consideration all round it seems there is in fact no tangible basis after all for the irrational negativity towards Castore that has peppered the preceding pages. It's always good to come to a useful conclusion, although it does still bother me that in a move intended to greatly enhance our financial position, there remains a residual reflex that wants to find some reason to criticise without cause. Rangers has enough challenges, the last thing we need to do is add to it by spreading indulgent and unnecessary negativity. I also think Castore is spot on with the comment that previous merchandise has often been abysmal. Browsing the Megastore or a Rangers shop was like touring a market stall in Cairo, only with poorer quality. Frankly the prices charged for the quality of product was often a disgrace. If Castore can substantially improve on quality then a few quid more wouldn't be out of order. The fact that Castore in the interview with James Bisgrove a few days ago confirmed a tiered price structure that will better suit all wallets is surely something to welcome. My overriding impression so far is that Castore have sat down with Rangers and sought to address issues specific to our situation, which makes a refreshing change from the one-size-fits-all contracts we've had to accept from the big sportswear companies.

  20. I suppose our fans use the Celtic thing as a marker I watch a lot of games these day's I dont have much to do apart from the garden the greenhouse and watching football and Celtic are not as good as the media tell the gullible out there . But therein lies the problem if they are poor in my opinion where does that leave Rangers if we trail them by thirteen points we haven't kicked a ball since the winter break a couple of performances in Europe when we raised our game is not good enough I woul hope that during this break our boardroom would be assessing what's gone wrong and what's needed. Is the manager up to the job are his backroom staff getting results what about the youth policy where's the lads coming through from Auchenhowie it's all pretty dire at the moment

  21. Thanks Stevie, enjoyed reading that. A lot of positive words from there owner certainly. Looks like i was right about a fan appease of orange and the news about different levels/standard/pricing of kit seems to be confirmed. Interesting indeed, the guy obviously wants to make a success (of course he would tho!) Of this partnership and their money is as good, or the same colour, to use an old phrase, as any other. Like you say Bill, nobody forces us to buy stuff and for me i will wait till i see the actual strips design and pricing before committing myself to buying.

  23. Why? He is on loan, has been poor and doesn't play in the same position as these departing players. If Ojo is staying, I'll be moving towards a "Gerrard out" line of thought. One of the most gutless players I've ever had the misfortune to witness play for Rangers.
