Setting the Standard: Redeveloping RSC Links with the Club
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
What purpose does the Association now serve? Whilst I have every respect for John MacMillan, I fail to see how an organisation that represents so few RSCs can be meaningful.- 24 replies

Setting the Standard: Redeveloping RSC Links with the Club
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Interesting article. On the away tickets issue, does anyone know what percentage of tickets for a typical away game to RSCs and how many go to CCCSs? Do RSCs get a proportion of their tickets through CCCS? I was a member of an RSC throughout the 90s and got all of my away tickets through it (for every game). Now I just apply through the CCCS like other ST holders and just get my 5 or 6 a season. I think that some justification needs to be given as to whether it should be the RSCs that get extra tickets if there are some available. One thing I couldn't figure out was the amount of empty seats down at Killie at the last game. Why? Could the club not take more and allocate more to both sets of bears? Although I'm no longer a member of an RSC, it appears that there is virtually no communication between the Assembly/WWA and the average member of an RSC. This make a mockery of the whole supporter set-up and needs to be overhauled, but that's a whole different subject. TB makes a great point on the club getting the RSCs on board. Just think of what could be achieved if that was the case, rather than the RSA (Assembly) sitting in their ivory towers deciding how they are to spend their (the club's) £30K. I'm sure if Murray or Bain were approached on the subject they would just point to the Assembly. That's a lazy answer as the Assembly doesn't achive a great deal and has no way of communicating to the average bear. Quarterly meetings similar to the sort that occured in the WRC would be the way to go with major delegates meeting with SDM and MB to put their views across and allowing the club to put their cards on the table and explain what they see as acceptable and what is not and getting that message out to the rank-and-file. Messages that are old tend to get forgotten about and need to be reinforced. this neds to be done by word-of-mouth and messages on the screens or in the programme will just be ignored. SDM/MD, the RSCs are there. Help them AND use them and both sides will see the benefits....but don't forget about us CCCS guys.- 24 replies

The issues aren't strictly football issues. They are just being played out there. Our club is being attacked and that makes it a football issue. You may not care about religion, but some of us do. You can argue that it's not a football issue but it is. I fervently believe that TBB was not a song with religious connotations but it has been argued that is has. Likewise the so-called famine chant. It's not us that's doing it, and we can either allow ourselves to be bullied or we can stand up for what we believe in.

But had McDonald scored that goal and they had won the game, we wouldn't hear a dickie bird.
-
Sums up the situation well. There ain't no level playing field.
-
Good point. Had forgotten about that.
-
My hearing is not the best, but it sounded to me as if the version being mainly sung did not contain the word "famine".

The best kind of source.

or the 2 IRA-related banners that appeared at Ibrox at the last OF game? or the pro-IRA songs sung at Celtic's previous game in Inverness etc etc.
-
Perhaps we should send one to Buckingham Palace to add to their collection?
-
How did you do that, Jon? The website wouldn't allow me to copy.
-
I didn't think they were that bad. An improvement on previous displays. Are we so keen to slag off the (Union Bears?) display at the last OF game at Ibrox?

Sorry about the quality of the attachment. Admin, can anything be done about it? Otherwise, you'll need to click on the link.

Celtic were born to keep RCs away from Protestants. Born of bigotry would be more correct. It's interesting to hear what Hibs think about Celtic's beginnings. "The very being of Hibernian was that every penny earned went to charitable causes. Celtic had undertaking no such principles." http://www.hibs.co.uk/news/more.php?id=A956_0_1_0_M

2 minutes, 7 minutes. Easy mistake to make.

Given Van der Sar didn't play yesterday, I presume he has therefore NOT broken Chris Wood's record of 1196 in ALL competitions.

Had a wee look. The financial guy is just living in hope, and not basing his assumptions on anything realistic. Agreed. Haven't bought that rag, or its sister paper in years.
-
I really think that could work well.
-
It was printed in the Herald on 27 Jan, I believe.

Let's do it for her tomorrow.

Done, although how anyone can think that Larsson's goal is anywhere near Cooper's is beyond me.

Gives the Rangers 18 man squad but doesn't give any other team news. Poor show, Chick. :admin:

Boyd is obviously our most consistent goal-scorer. I'm not convinced about Weir this season though and we could really have done with getting a replacement in the recent window.
-
He's a focal point of the team and does have an influence as to how we play. Another focal point is Weir, and his lack of speed means the defence can't push up as much which restricts the midfield as well, and would have a similar impact on the team's performance. It's very much a subjective thing and I can't prove it one way or another. I'm not even sure it's a viewpoint I'd hang my hat on. Just raising it as a possibility and a discussion point.
