Another great success tonight I would say. Thanks especially to BH and Dave Smith for organising and entertaining and my fellow Gersnetters for splendid company. I had been saying that this was probably going to be the Rangers-related highlight of the season to date and I think I was right. Hopefully can do it all again soon.

I am happy to meet up again at the wee shop and share taxis to Malaga with other match-attending Gersnetters.

Today's attendance & related discussion
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Cant believe that Hearts, given the run they are on and positive vibe at the club just now, didnt manage a sell-out for a big cup tie despite reduced prices on offer. I am guessing therefore that they gave the bheasts the whole stand? -
Scottish Cup 5th round draw - Rangers v Raith Rovers
Tannochsidebear replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
The preferences for cup draws are one of the few things that haven't changed in Scottish football since our demise. Give us a lower league team at home, and give "them" the hardest possible away draw. The only thing that has changed is the reasoning. It is now because I really dont want them to win the treble, whereas it used to be to give us the best chance to win the treble. -
Not a fish fan or a fan of the spicy stuff, come to think of it not a fan of tapas or paella either, but there was so much going round last time that there will be plenty of choice for even the fussiest palate. And if not, there is always the booze!

Competition: Win an Official 2015 Rangers Calendar
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I think it is great that the good Admin at Gersnet keep coming up with freebies to give away to the members but on a point of principle I cannot possibly enter this competition. The current Rangers captain is the very worst in our history, and a calendar of our current squad would only bring tears to my eyes on a daily basis. So I'm out!! -
Bomber's raid on Miller, Boyd and McCulloch
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Your right of course, but it makes it easier to argue against him when he has been utter gash all season!! -
Rangers may be prevented from playing in Europe because of Ashley
Tannochsidebear replied to Bluedell's topic in Rangers Chat
Hopefully the Geordies continue to ply the pressure on Ashley. Their fans seem fairly united towards a common goal, whilst ours of course can be accused of nothing of the sort.- 24 replies

Bomber's raid on Miller, Boyd and McCulloch
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
It is justified criticism IMO, although just why rent-a-gub Bomber feels the need to have a go now is really quite transparant in a desperate attempt to take some heat off his old buddy, and it is certainly not for the good of the club. I would also have preferred, if he was to have a go at the experienced players who are on big wages and are underperforming, that he couldnt possibly leave Daly, Black, Law, Smith & Foster off that list and have any credibility. For those that feel Miller is unfairly criticised by being on that list, quite simply you are wrong. Miller has been awful, has clearly lost his pace, and meanders through games like the others I have mentioned above. We all have our favourites and I feel bad by slating Boyd who is a favourite of mine, but having attended almost every game this season, the criticism is fair as although Boyd's workrate and assists has much improved since he was last with us, the amount of easy chances he has missed means that criticism is merited. I am quite happy to see McCulloch finally get some criticism, as he is quite simply our worst ever captain, and a footballer of absolutely no quality whatsoever. He didnt look out of place in the 4th tier of Scottish football, but even then was regularly outplayed by opponents, especially in midfield and in defence. -

"it's All About the Money" in this article too
Tannochsidebear replied to SteveC's topic in Rangers Chat
Unlike Jackson to be quite so bullish against us as I believe he has Rangers leanings. Perhaps he is hurting like the rest of us. I did say some of the points you cant argue with, but that came across as a fanzine piece by a tim with wee snidey digs that a mainstream national newspaper should be above. The continual mis-use of the fiver/tenner quote for starters. The ignoring of our two successful downsizing periods this century (2002-2006 & 2008-2011) when he says spending our way out of trouble is our DNA is another blatant error, and I have now only covered the first 2/3 paragraphs. The messenger is important, especially in mainstream media, as it determines the weight the article carries, and quite often you can determine the accuracy of the piece just by the author and subject matter. I would normally give Jackson (but not his paper) a bit more credibility given his accuracy in some of his boardroom stories in recent years, but that is quite a lot of utter trash in amongst some solid home truths. I would flip this article on its head from the other posters in this thread and say just because he gets some things right in it, doesn't mean it should be lauded or is free from criticism, especially for the underlying tone.- 42 replies

Tannochsidebear replied to SteveC's topic in Rangers Chat
Absolutely reeking of timmy that article. There might be a few non-arguable points contained in it, but the overall tone is pure resentment & hatred which typifies the Daily Rhebel attitude to all things Rangers over the last couple of decades. Any idea the author of this latest piece?- 42 replies

I would add to the end of your sentence;...........under this coaching set-up. I firmly believe that a good manager & coaches would get so much more out of this group of players, who continually under-deliver under this manager and coaches. This squad is the second best in Scotland, of that I have no doubt, but I believe the players have absolutely no faith in our manager or coaches, and when this happens you see repeated poor performances, players not really trying too hard, not tracking back with the same determination, not tackling with the same effort, not taking care with the passes, not having the confidence in their shooting. I think this squad would win every remaining game in this division, freak result or two aside when nothing goes your way, with plenty to spare and would be quite entertaining to boot. Some dont understand why, when a manager loses the dressing room, it should have any factor on a player's personal pride in themselves and for their club in their performances, but it really does. In any job, when you know the guy in charge is a complete numpty, productivity dips across the board. I believe that is what is happening before our eyes each week. Unfortunately, we also know that the club cannot afford to get rid of Ally, Kenny & Ian as between the three of them they must be due well in excess of £1M in compensation packages if they are sacked. The 3 of them must know they are underachieving, and not getting the best out of their squad, and have decided to just hang in there and wait for the inevitable pay-day. My guess is they are thinking that as everybody else got a good pay-off, why shouldn't they? There is also the possibility that this could well be their last jobs in football management as I really dont see any of them getting another gig, such has been their abject failure to deliver anything constructive.

Ally must action cap call-offs at Rangers
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Any other player at this moment in time and I would endorse my fellow contributors who say we should leave him alone to enjoy his first senior squad call-up. It is a purely selfish desire to find a solution to let him play as he is the only player I have enjoyed watching play in Rangers colours for some time now. Even in a bad game he is likely to have a lovely pass, attempted pass, shot, run etc that puts a smile on my face, and sadly I cannot think of another player who has consistently done this since our demotion. If I wasnt going to the game on Saturday, or if we had other players worth the admission money, I would be firmly in the let him enjoy his call-up camp. Enduring what I and my fellow match-going bears have to watch each week, I think I am allowed this hypothetical indulgence. -
Ally must action cap call-offs at Rangers
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
This should be a fairly simple solution. If Strachan decides to play Lewis, even as a last minute sub, on Friday night at the piggery, then he stays with the squad. If Lewis gets no game time at all, then he should be released on Saturday morning to play for us, and return to Scotland on Saturday night to prepare for the England game. I doubt the squad will be doing much on the Saturday anyway, so he shouldnt be missing out on much if he leaves for a few hours to bale us out. McLeod is about the only player in our team worth going to watch at the moment, and I will be bitterly disappointed if he misses out for us on Saturday to simply go training with the National squad and gets no game time. That we win the game on Saturday should not be in doubt, that we have anyone else capable of entertaining those in attendance like McLeod has been recently is much harder to fathom. -
No idea mate, I am guessing it must be for MND charities.

I agree with that, and would enhance it further by saying that, at the earliest possible opportunity, the RFB arranges meetings with the main fans groups like the RST and Association, to discuss mutually relevant topics for debate with the club, and seek a way of working together when the need arises, while being completely independant of each other and free to continue to do their own body of work for their members. The RFB should be mindful that both the RST and Association's members have actually went out of their way to be members of those organisations, which are both fully democratic with regular meetings and elections, not co-opted into membership by purchase of a ST. If there has even been 200 people who bought the £25 package to enable them to vote in this I will be absolutely stunned, which means the RFB is actually the least democratically elected board of the three.

I actually laughed out loud at the inference that this RFB should get a say in the spending of the RFFF money. Absolutely no chance of that happening, and nor should it. I was also concerned at the question of official RFC buses running from Ibrox for supporters, are our RSC's not struggling enough already? A funny way of supporting the majority of away supporters who travel by RSC! I am glad this was squashed but I am deeply concerned at it even being proposed as a discussion topic. Also, very saddened to note that not one mention of our board being called to account on anything they have done, no demands to speak with them, and that the next meeting is not scheduled until 7 weeks after the first one. Absolutely nothing is going to get done by this RFB if meetings are 7 weeks apart. For this to have any lasting effect for our support, these people have to be meeting and getting work done every week or two weeks maximum. When there are delays of several weeks in a volutary organisation of this kind, nothing gets done for 6 weeks and then everyone rushes about trying to get their bit done a day or two before the meeting. When meetings are more regular, the work has to get done all the time, and progress can be made. Otherwise it is just deadwood.

League Cup Semi Final Draw - We play Celtic
Tannochsidebear replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
I must admit I am gutted that we have drawn the bheasts in the league cup semi. I really didnt want to play them again, ever, if I am honest after the events of the last few years, coupled with the fact that this is without doubt the very worst Rangers team in our entire history and any honest Bear will know that we "should" be on the receiving end of a horrible afternoon. I know the bheasts are pish as well, but they will be really up for this like no other, and having watched our management and play every week I fear our tactics, player selection & positional play will give us very little chance of an upset, with all our efforts focused on keeping the score respectable. I will need to think long and hard before deciding if I will even go to this one, it will be a truly horrible atmosphere, with the media having stoked it up all winter in a bid to create some interest in buying/listening to their failing rags/ratings. There is also the consideration of with the money for the game being split between the corrupt SPFL, the bheasts and Ashley, that is really a horrible trio of profiteers for my cash. -
RST launch merchandise alternative Fleshers Haugh Limited

I dont wear Rangers branded clothing of any kind, official or otherwise, but any alternative to giving Ashley money that he in turn he refuses to pay back to the club has got to be welcomed, encouraged and promoted. -
David Somers appointed (temporary) executive chairman
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I am guessing the bookies will not be running a book on anyone but Llambias getting the gig, without even putting his name into the ring for it, and of course after due diligence and various commissions and finders fees have been paid out to hire the guy Ashley hand-picked for the job in the first place. Our farce just gets more comical with each passing day, but unfortunately I cannot even raise a smile at such comedy gold as another boot in the chuckies goes into the Rangers support.- 19 replies

James Easdale's plush home targetted by vandals
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
While I obviously cant condone this course of action, if this is the worst thing that happens to Easdale over his involvement in the raping and pillaging from our club, he really has got off very lightly indeed. Had it been the other lot in Glasgow with these issues, the glazers would be a daily visitor to his "plush" manor, alongside motor vehicle bodywork repair people, and other assorted tradespersons.
