Setting the Standard: Looking Through Oranje Glasses
gisabeer replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
That was a bloody good read. But there was a word that kept popping up that doesnt appear to be in the Ibrox dictionary at the moment. Vision. It does though make you realise how static and stagnant we are given the size of the club that we percieve ourselves to be. -
Ill not be renewing my season book next year. Ive lost the passion i once had for the game and I put it down to smith tactics. We have no standards anymore. we have no class. And i dont see us aquiring any under the leadership of Smith or McCoist. I find myself not really caring anymore if we lose or win. Which is a very strange feeling indeed considering how much effort i have made supporting the club for the last 30 years. McCoists statement the other day about winning first and entertaining second really struck a nerve with me. I put my self into debt to support Rangers and this guy comes away with shit like that? Might as well just stay at home and check the scores on the Grandstand Vidiprinter if thats the attitude.

me too. Black and red all the way.

Rangers are the only team out of the last 8 that septic have played and not scored. and we managed it twice! Speaks volumes.
-
After his statement about winning first and entertainment second I am not looking forward to him being manager. If thats his attitude then we may as well not bother turning up at all.
-
two questions come to mind over the issue. If it is infact an offence to sing TFS, why didnt the Police arrest anybody for singing it? Why didnt the SPL get involved and sensure celtic when 4 of their supporters got arrested at Inverness? Inconsistenies indeed!

This the way it works in here mate. you post a comment and back up through constructive dialogue. you probably get away with it on lesser sites like follow follow but were slightly more articulate in Gersnet.

Negativety is a word tht jumps to mind at the very mention of Walter Smiths name. We have the players to play attacking football yet we opt to play no football at all. Infact its fair to say we set our stall out not to play football at all and even worse stop the opposing team playing it as well. On thing is for sure. No matter how much we complain there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that Walter Smith will change his gameplan and tactics. This is our lot im afraid. get used to it. god help us if this guy stays another season, win or los the league.

The famine song was sung a few times and i heard *** included a few times too. It was pretty blatant.

I like to play poker. Not for bags of money, just a couple of quid. But wether your a high roller or just playing for small change the principles are just the same. Im no superstar either. I can though read a game and see whats going on and generally can tell when the best time to put my chips in. Ill wait till i get a good hand or identify when my opponent is weak and use that to my advantage. But if i dont do anything one thing will happen. My chips will slowly dwindle as the blinds go round the table and go up as time goes on and ill be left with nothing. Basically if you dont put my chips in the pot you wont win. You have to at some point take a chance. you have to bully your opponents on the table and let them know whos boss. Yesterday was the Ideal time for Walter Smith throw his chips into the pot and show his hand to our bitter rivals on the other side of the city. It was time to show them whos boss, to up the stakes and let thm know we meant business. Our bitter rivals have been showing weakness for quite some time now and we should have been taking advantage of the situation. But we didnt. Instead we opted to half the pot when we did in fact hold the better cards. We were weak when we should have been strong. and let our opponents live to play another hand into the bargain. and that is a dangerous game to play. you wont get the oppertunity to dispose of you oponents all that often so when the opertunity arrives you have to take it with both hands. Walter Smith is playing a very dangerous game. his over causiousness borders on gutless when we should be stepping up to the plate and stating our intent. He opts for saftey when we should be showing tact and guile leaving a side void of skill and imagination. But the real price is being paid by the players and you have ask what effect Walters negative tactics have on them. When you ask a player to continually play in the defensive mode that Smith so much desires for so long it must surely affect his ability and style in the long term. Basically I believe Smith is draining the life out of our players. guy like Whittaker, Beadsley, McCulloch etc came and were pretty decent players who looked to be good prospects but over time their form has deteriorated to nothing. Even ferguson seems to be suffering too. There are just far too many off form player at Ibrox at the minute and for me it is no coincidence. you dont get so many players turning bad for no reason. I blame Smith and his negativety. nobody shines in our team anymore. There are no standouts. nobody catches the eye. nobody flourishes. What future lies for the likes of fleck in Walters tacticle nightmare? If our first team players are being dragged into the myre by our manger what chance in hell do our kids have? How are they going to expand their game and realise their potential in the current setup? The truth is they wont, and that is the most worring thing of all.

he was there through merit and he certainly wasnt the worst player on the park. Today was more down to th tactics of our manager and i wouldnt read too much into individual performances.
-
some say that our manager is over causious. I say he is spineless. Its the same tactics that saw us lose the league to a very mediocre team last season and the fucking arsehole is dragging us down again. smith is a disgrace to every fan that pays money to follow Rangers. I should know, i forked out for two tickets today. thats two opertunities missed to go top of the league and our gutless manger has turned both of them down. Says a lot about his character.
-
First half was but the second was one way traffic.
-
Tactical changes are allright as long as they work and you win. But over the piece Smith has failed to deliver when the chips are down.
-
We already have enough run of the mill Spl players thanks walter.

Walter Smith has never, does not and will never know his best eleven. And as far as the Celtic game goes you can bet your mortgage that he will go for saftey first. mainflyer came away with a cracking statement in another post. being so afraid to lose that you are unable to win is not what we need or want at Rangers. This sums up our manager to a tee. Over cautious bordering on gutless. I fear our managers tactics more than i fear the oppositions these days. Smith is our worst enemy and the sooner he finds a spine or grows a pair of gonads the better. if he doesnt yet another mediocre septic team will win yet another eague that they dont deserve.

Advocaats going to sunderland.
-
im more concerned with the fact that McCulloch will probably play that damned sweeper roll in the 4 5 1 formation. Nakamura will have a field day with the freekicks he gives away.
-
Wondered what the enemy looks like - here you go.

must be a great guy. his second name is the same as mine! -
he has his own office at murray park so he must be doing something up there. What is i you want from the guy? Do you want him to shake your hand as you walk in the stadium? As for influence in the boardroom. Theres only one guy in there thats got any. its the guy that owns all the shares.
