  1. Had to laugh.. the Daily Record's 'eye witness' quote is straight from a guy on FF.
  2. Suprised I hadn't heard anything on here about this but FF is going wild with a rumour of an alleged bustup between McCoist and Bain over the transfer of Cuellar. A quote from McCoist not that long ago which would perhaps explain a part of it. Rumours even gone as far as him resigning, which I highly doubt and this whole rumour could be rubbish aswell, but thought it made interesting reading. Anyone heard anything?
  3. The thousands of wee ones who got the new top with Cuellar on it will be gutted.
  4. Local paper down in Hull is linking them with a move for Novo. Random.
  5. RANGERS are rated second best team in the world despite their shocking Champions League defeat by FBK Kaunas. The Ibrox side are listed just behind European champions Manchester United in the new club rankings by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics. Gers' run to the UEFA Cup Final last season launched them up two place from No.4. Chelsea are third with Bayern Munich and Barcelona making up the top five. Celtic drop two places to No.52.
  6. Absolutely cracking article. A recommended read.
  7. If true, you just wonder if Carlos really was injured on Tuesday or if he was being saved from being cup tied as an insurance policy.
  8. Let's play a game of 'Fill the Gap'. What must the following people be thinking, now more than ever. Tonights lineup got me thinking even before the result, but more so afterwards. There must be almost a whole teams-worth of players wondering what the hell is going on right now. Not least of all Carlos Cuellar and Barry Ferguson wondering how on Earth a team can fall apart so easily without them. This is in almost rant form, so this will be in no order. Alan Gow As we've come to expect, not even in the squad tonight (never is). Clearly Smith sees something there to make him go against giving the lad a chance.. but could he really do any worse than Charlie Adam and the likes? Brahim Hemdani Not a popular choice among everyone especially with his somewhat mediocre form in the latter stages of last season, but again the question is, how much worse can he be than Christian Dailly? He showed in the past that in these kind of games he can get hold of the ball, keep it and distribute it more efficiently than anyone else in our team. Kris Boyd This has gone on forever, but he must still be thinking about what on Earth he has to do to be given a chance. It's almost an embarrassment to Walter Smith's tactical nous that the sole purpose of Boyd is to come on after the 80 minute mark when we're chasing goals. That's Plan B. And that's it. Youngsters I'm sensing a pattern here.. but could the likes of Fleck and Furman really do any worse? Furman is a natural central midfield player with bags of ability if not experience. Lee McCulloch, while experienced, is everything but a central midfielder. As for Fleck, people say he's too young. 2 words. Wayne Rooney. Debuted at 16, became first team regular and look how badly that went.. Walter Smith I could go on forever about how Steven Smith must feel fighting back from injury only to be given no sign of a look-in. How Kyle Lafferty must be wondering how the hell he can justify his £4m pricetag from the bench or even what someone like Thomas Buffel must be thinking looking at our team which is crying out for a creative midfielder after he was told to bugger off even with a year left on his contract. But the daddy of them all is this. What the hell is Walter Smith thinking? One of his long-term defendants, I have scratched my head over his tactics and team selections one too many times. I know I'm not the only one.
  9. The pieces of him going fit perfectly. One of his main reasons for expressing a wish to stay? Guaranteed CL football. The money lost from tonights game? £10m. The release clause in his contract? £10m. I hope not.
  10. Have always argued to people: 'You'll miss him when he's not there' and tonight, again, was a crucial point proven.
  11. RANGERS Football Club offers sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to our fans at Ibrox last night. Unprecedented demand for tickets on matchday itself, via the hotline and website, resulted in huge numbers of supporters uplifting tickets at the stadium prior to kick-off. Consequently, standard Ticket Centre services were also affected, including ticket sales and the resolution of Smartcard issues. The Club fully accepts its responsibility to deliver efficient ticket sales distribution, but would appreciate if supporters requiring to uplift their tickets on matchday, could do so at least two hours prior to the match. Supporters who uplift within two hours of kick-off may encounter queues due to the high volume of tickets sold for every home game. The Club always endeavours to minimise inconvenience and provide an efficient uplift service for all home games, and will place specific focus on the imminent Liverpool match. Rangers Football Club appreciates the vast support it enjoys at all home games and once again regrets any inconvenience caused to fans. The highlighted paragraph basically sums it up that this apology is a load of bollocks. In plain English: 'We're sorry.. but it's your fault'.
  12. Not a huge fan of the signing in any way but the guy was one of very few who got pass marks last night. He gave it his all, tracking back to make tackles in his own half, chasing balls down before they go out of play and what-not and it was good to see a general positivity towards him for the most part from the crowd.
  13. IBROX star Lee McCulloch has officially launched Rangers Football Club's stunning home kit for season 2008/09 at Murray Park. Adult and junior shirts, shorts and socks will be available to buy on Tuesday and will be worn by the first-team when they play their opening pre-season game against SC Preussen Munster in Germany. JJB stores nationwide - including the JJB Rangers Megastore at Ibrox Stadium and JJB Rangers standalone stores in Glasgow's Argyle Street, Falkirk and Inverness - will stock the kit and supporters can also order online at http://www.rangersmegastore.com, http://www.jjbsports.com or by calling 0871 702 1972. The new shirt is traditional Rangers Blue with an embroidered Rangers scroll crest on the left breast, an Umbro logo on the right and is anatomically cut to emphasize the athleticism of the modern player. It features a hybrid neckline with no exposed seems for added comfort and a twill mesh body fabric which makes it lightweight and breathable. On the back of the shirt there is a trilogy back panel - a new version of Umbro's lead fabric technology specifically developed to include a zonal body map mesh design - and also features a Saltire on the back neck. The shirt is complemented by traditional white shorts and black and red socks while the home shorts will also carry the Rangers Charity Foundation logo on the rear for the first time. Lee McCulloch commented: "The new top looks fantastic, all the boys are looking forward to playing in it and I'm sure the supporters will be keen to get their hands on it too. "I am also pleased the Rangers Charity Foundation logo will be displayed on the shorts. "The Foundation works so hard to improve the lives of thousands of people every season and we are delighted it will receive this exposure." Rangers Charity Foundation Manager, Connal Cochrane, added: "I am delighted the home shorts will display the Foundation's logo in the new season. "Everyone at the Club is proud of the Foundation's achievements and the fact the players will play in shorts with its logo will really raise awareness." Think it looks cracking especially in the top photo.
  14. Saw this floating around.. it could very well be a fake but thought I'd post it anyway..
  15. Spain are the new world number one-ranked side after their victory at the European Championship but England have fallen six places to 15th. The Spanish moved up three places to depose last month's leaders Argentina after their victory over Germany in the final of Euro 2008 on Sunday. England's absence from the tournament denied them competitive action and as a result they fell outside the top 10 just a month after re-entering it. Scotland are ranked 16th and Northern Ireland are down one in 33rd, the Republic of Ireland (41) are up one with Wales (54) dropping a place. World champions Italy are second in the rankings, with Germany's appearance in the final lifting them to third, ahead of Brazil, Holland and Argentina. The biggest movers of the top 10 are Croatia, up eight places to seventh, while Czech Republic, Portugal and France complete the list of the best sides in the world. I know a lot of people think the way these rankings are determined is a bit shabby and you can't judge much by them, but when was the last time tehre was one place between us and the English?
