  1. I joined the RST because I a) wanted to help my club b) liked the ideal that the fans had a collective stake in the club which gave them a voice which couldn't be ignored and an influence in key decisions c) felt that this was better achieved via a pooled ownership scheme, rather than me holding £500 of shares as an individual. I had no inkling at the time of the negative perception some have of the trust or individuals who have been involved in it in the past. However, if you like the idea but not the people, join and vote them out. Better still stand for election. And by the way, fan ownership doesn't mean that the Board is suddenly made up of amateurs. With a broad enough membership, the fan groups would be able to either appoint or elect reps with appropriate backgrounds in Finance & Corporate Governance.
  2. No-one else saw or heard anything. Clearly it's a sectarian conspiracy, from Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Hearts, plus the Police and Stewarding company. In Aberdeen's case, it is the silence of the lambs....
  3. We'll need to agree to differ on that one. By the way, it's half time and pissing down, but we're 2:0 up and playing quick, attractive football for once. C'est la vie!
  4. True. Although the shareholders wouldn't be too pleased when they found out.
  5. Yes he is.
  6. Depends on the metric you assess it on. We'll need to concede if it's based on the number of empty seats in the stadium though.
  7. Assuming that the bids for Lee Wallace were real, I take some comfort from the fact they were rejected. When we were heading for admin, we punted our most saleable asset and fans favourite on the cheap. Declining to do so again, suggests that we're not on the verge of running out of cash.
  8. This is not personal and you have every right to do exactly what you want with your time and money, but that's the rationale of a consumer, not a fan. It's also rediculous hyperbole. "Frustrates" would be understandable, but "disgusts"? Really? In sickness and in health, for better or worse etc.
  9. Lol, that best case scenario is a tougher 120 day plan to pull off than Mr Wallace's, that's for sure.
  10. Based on the RST note, it sounds fair enough for an intros meeting. Anyone expecting much more was being pretty naive. Only problem is that the intros meeting is several months overdue as Frankie said.
  11. My first reaction was to wonder what else is going on that they are trying to deflect attention from? Couldn't think of any other reason for releasing anything so pointless.
  12. Craig Whyte certainly isn't one of the first 101 topics I'd like to hear Mr Easdale's opinion on.
  13. "...lean mean fighting machine ..." Half right in Easdale's case perhaps.
  14. Fan ownership doesn't have to mean 100% control. With a broad base of institutional and high net worth shareholders, a 20-25% collective holding would be sufficient to give fan groups an effective say in the running of the club.
  15. New from the Scotsman: hypothetical "news".
  16. Very sad news indeed. One of the players from the first Rangers era I can remember clearly as a boy. An interesting and articulate man as well as a talented footballer.
  17. Faure has been one of our most consistent players so far this season playing at right back. He's come on leaps and bounds IMO.
  18. Sorry, but I didn't suggest we should accept being humiliated or hamstrung, or that we should feel guilty for anything. We used to win everything in sight and weren't slow in letting everyone else know about it. I just don't think we should have been surprised when they (and I was referring to non Celtic fans) then took more pleasure from our problems than they would have done from another team's. As for Celtic fans, my point was that the views of the internet warriors don't reflect what I hear ordinary fans saying. That doesn't mean that I don't get irritated by the crap I read on social media, just that I don't think it's that representative of the majority. That leaves me comfortable with the idea of playing and competing with them again in future.
  19. Amms, I totally understand your feelings and I too was shocked by the sheer depth of animosity we faced in our hour of need. On reflection I think part of that situation can be explained by a relatively small group of zealots spreading the myth that we were cheats, to the point where it became the accepted truth, even among the ordinary supporters of other teams. However, we need to be realistic and accept that for decades we lorded it over Scottish football and the "we are the people" and "if they spend a fiver, we'll spend a tenner" mentality wound other teams' supporters up no end. So, in their view, like seeing the playground bully finally getting his comeuppance, they wanted to see us humiliated and hamstrung. But to die? I'm not so sure. The "your not Rangers any more" chants are designed to rile us and I dare say some do mean it, but most of the Celtic fans I speak to don't want us dead and I detect a certain softening in attitude among several of my acquaintences following the various commission verdicts which have (essentially) found in our favour over the past 2 years. Is it possible that people say one thing to your face and something completely different when they are anonymous in a crowd or online? Of course it is, but I'm pretty sure that the majority want us back and competitive pronto. The bottom line for me is that the next time we beat them will be right up there with 5:1 at Ibrox or winning the league at Parkhead, perhaps even sweeter. These are the moments that football supporters crave and if we have to wait a while for that, or take a few defeats on the way, then so be it. I'm not obsessed or defined by them, but if we want to get back to the top of the Scottish game, they are the team to beat and we should welcome that challenge. If they are bitter, then we display our difference through continued focus on our love for our Club and a refusal to hate them. I don't think anything we could do would annoy them more. If they bait us, we can be confident enough in the facts to smile and not rise to it. And if I'm wrong and the majority did want us to die, then they failed and we can take great satisfaction from that. Let's see what the demand for tickets is like when we're next paired with them. I suspect that will tell us all we really need to know about what they think.
  20. Again, I should have been clearer that I was referring to this year. We've had some poor performances, but very few which reminded me of last year in the way that yesterday did.
  21. My fault for not being clearer about the signings, I was referring to this season. Moshni, Daly, Law, Bell and Clark have all been good signings in my book. I'll reserve judgement on Peralta for now. Smith is decent back-up for Wallace. Simmonson & Foster were both unnecessary, but decent players. Of all of these, only Foster has disappointed so far IMO, and he's capable of better. We can argue whether we needed to sign SPL standard players this year, versus persisting with youth, but the ones he did sign have done pretty well so far IMO. As for the level of performance from the team this season, it has improved considerably versus last year. By this time last year, we'd seen half a dozen performances as bad as yesterday's. I'm not someone who'd back McCoist regardless, but I don't agree he's as hopeless as you make out.
  22. Yesterday was dire and I was angry about many aspects of our play. Like many, I'm not entirely convinced about Ally as a manager, but I'm prepared to give him more leeway than just about any other person I can think of, because of what he's done for the Club. I also happen to think that the football this season has generally been far better than last year (perhaps not hard), Ally's signings have been pretty successful and some people are over-reacting on the back of one abject performance.
  23. From about 10 mins into the game, we looked lethargic, complacent and one-dimensional (long ball to Daly & feed off the knock downs), with no width at all. I had a strong feeling for the whole 2nd half that we would concede a goal, because we just weren't sharp enough. Would like to put it down to just a bad day at the office, but really that was nowhere near acceptable. Interesting to see what reaction the team gives against Dunfermline in a few days.
