  1. We need to press them from the very start. Get in their faces and put a few heavy tackles into Roberts and Forrest the way we used to do to Nakamura. This is a massive game for Dorrans. He was a decent standard EPL player not long ago and this is the type of game he should be showing his experience and class. Our two wingers will be crucial as well. Windass simply can't go into hiding and needs to put the effort in that the Portuguese on the other wing has done so far this season. We'll get chances on Sat, let's hope they fall to the little man up top as I'm sure he'll take this game in his stride though he'll need to watch his temperament. I think Frankie is probably right with his starting line up but I wouldn't be surprised if he maybe goes with Hodson at left back and John instead of Windass. I'd be happy enough with either. Windass could have the beating of Lustig if he wants to. I've always thought that their right back was their weak link. Along with Gordon. I've never got the hype with him. One thing has to change from last season and that's our physicality against them. We hardly won any of our 50/50's last year against them. This HAS to change. We can't be bullied off the ball. Get in their faces and make sure each any every one of them knows they are in a game. Like Frankie says, if we give 100% and don't get the result then that's football. They are better than us right now but at some stage this season we need to take 3 points off them. Buzzing as always for it
  2. If Morelos isn't willing to score in every game for us then we should sell him
  3. Pena gets into good positions but right now he isn't doing the very basics anywhere near right. His passing has been awful. He does need more time to settle but throwing him in when he's not sharp could do more harm than good. I don't think we play a formation tonight with Sat in mind. I think we need to play our best team to win the game tonight. As much as we need to win an old firm game, tonight's game is arguably more important as we need to start winning cups again while trying to get closer to Celtic
  4. We need to play as strong a team as we can! Giving guys like Pena, Holt and Dalcio starts in a QF is a complete no no for me.
  5. A chance to go top of the league and apply a bit of pressure on Celtic blown. That was as comfortable a first 45 minutes as we are likely to get away from home this season and the game should've been done. Even after we scored, Partick done nothing, but then we never really kicked on either. Pedro has to know they are going to come out and have a bit of a go after half time but it looked like it caught us by surprise and even then we still didn't wake up after they equalised. The referee had a shocker but he didn't really have any impact on the result again. We were awful in that second half. After Miller went off (deservedly) we had no shape whatsoever and it all seemed a bit make it up as we go. We are 6 games into the league having played a fair few cup games as well. Why are Pena, Herrera, Niko and Rossiter not fit? Im baffled with the two Mexicans. Pena gets into decent enough positions but his basic passing is atrocious. That's not a fitness issue. Herrera is a waste of a jersey. I'd rather we brought on Hardie for him. If we play either of those two against Celtic we'll get a doing. Wallace picking up injuries again, I really think we need to re think our captain in January. Declan John looked ok going forward but was missing on several occasions defending. Suppose it mirrors Tav on the other side. I like Jack and Dorrans but I don't think the two of them is enough in the middle and we can be easily over run in the middle. I'd try Jack and Rossiter with Dorrans slightly further forward on Tuesday with the idea of going with that next Sat. Dorrans in behind Morelos could work against them with him dropping deep when we need him. Windass and Candyass on the flanks. Kenny Miller seems to be struggling and i'll be surprised if he lasts the season, I think he has a part to play but it looks like it could be 1 year too many for Kenny as a starter. I read on twitter so im not sure how true it is but apparently we've faced 11 shots on target in the league and have conceded 8 goals. That's unacceptable if its true and our defence needs tightening up. That all seems fairly negative but I don't actually think we are too far away from being a good side. Naismith would've been a no brainer alongside Morelos and maybe we should look at that in jan. We need a bit of strength in depth as when Pedro tried to change the game last night he just didn't have the personnel to make the difference. Our team could do with a bit more heart as well. I wonder how many of them are still hurting from not getting the 3 points last night and the incentive to go top next week by beating Celtic at Ibrox
  6. I think it's massive we now have the spine of a team playing well. Wes, Bruno, Jack and Morelos. Thought we were good today against poor opposition and probably should've scored a few more. Morelos and Candeias were excellent and have settled brilliantly. We are still a new team and I'm delighted where we are right now. Hopefully we can go on a run of wins now. And hopefully Pedro drops Miller and Niko for the next couple matches. Niko is great but he's done. He'd be brilliant in the Masters but he can't handle the pace now
  7. Probably about the same I reckon. I don't think they fixed there centre of defence and I think we improved our forwards so I'm happy with that. Walker we can now get for pennies in Jan. The boy needs to knuckle down for Hearts though and we need to forget about him until the window opens and we see where we are. We now have Windass, Dalcio, Nemane and possibly John and Pena who could play out left. Up to one of them to make that position there own. Let's hope the team gel over this international break and we come back and put a run of results together. Important we stay in touch with Aberdeen and Celtic in this first quarter. Celtic should win the league, hopefully not as comfortably as they did last year and I'd take our squad over Aberdeens so we really need to push on now
  8. Hopefully if one goes in the other direction its done as a loan for the season depending on the player. Holt or Dodoo going to Hearts for a year before coming back wouldn't be a terrible option. That Eliseu was a decent player but hes a winger just about to turn 34. Not for me for the money he'd be on A side note on the Walker thing. Im not fussed either way if we get him or not. His attitude at Hearts has been questionable since our interest. I'd prefer the boy got the head down and remained professional at Hearts and let the 2 boards do the talking. The modern player is king I guess
  9. Niko has a part to play this season but it's probably from the bench. He'll get fitter but I still don't think he'll get to a fitness level where he can be a major player for us. Even last year he wasn't fit after 3 months. We simply can't rely on a guy who's not fit to get us where we need to be. I think the international break is better for us than most teams. Not many out playing so the squad will be together and bonding for another 2 weeks before Dundee. With hopefully a couple more additions
  10. The signs are looking good for young Morelos, lets hope he settles in Scotland as its still early days but if he can go from Columbia to Finland and score, then im hopeful he'll do the same here. His technique for his header was exceptional. Reminded me a bit of Tim Cahill. Id take that
  11. Before he got injured he still wasn't anywhere near fit. He has quality but Scottish football is going to be too fast for him. For me he's an impact sub with Miller. The second goal yesterday was really lucky. I can't think of the last time we got a break like that. There's a lot of work to do and I still think we need another couple bodies but today was all about the 3 points and not the performance
  12. Does this rangers team look like it can go on a run of 15-20 games without being beaten. I don't think it does. Rodgers has them believing they are all ten foot tall. Does Pedro inspire that same confidence? I'd stick with him for now but he's on a shoogly nail where a couple more bad results and I think more would want him out than would want to keep him. These next few games before we play Celtic are crucial and for now I don't care about winning well. Just get a run of getting 3 points on the board and confidence will come
  13. I spotted that too Craig. I was just about to shout that Windass wasn't tracking back and saw Pedro motion him to stay where he was. Tomorrow is massive even this early in the season. That first old firm game needs to be relevant in regards to the title. I know they're always relevant but it needs to matter where the three points end up or we'll have failed again this season. For me he'll start Windass and Miller. Windass should be helped with the return of Wallace who offers more on the left than Hodson. He started well last week but not many played well when we went down to 10 so we can't just blame Windass. I also like the idea of knowing a first 11 and having guys having to do well to get into the team rather than getting their chance by players being dropped. I expect a high tempo from the off again hopefully with a little bit more composure. I'm gonna go for 3-1 with Morelos getting a couple. Though I'll take 1-0 with a Collum og as way of apology for last week
  14. The thought that Beaton can just sweep this under the carpet and move on is crazy. We all have to be accountable in our jobs, he is no different
  15. The standard of refs in Scotland is pretty poor tbh across the board. Beaton and Clancy the worst for me. Should referees be more accountable when they have howlers? The fact that Beaton refused Pedro access after the game is ridiculous for me. Pedro is entitled to ask questions privately imo
  16. After sleeping on it and watching the match back, I'm still in total disbelief at that refereeing performance. As ever when Beaton referees our games its Welcome to the Beaton show. He was beyond awful when he was ref in one of our games last season towards the tail end but yesterday will take some beating. I think it was all set to be a cracking game of football yesterday before he ruined the game with the sending off. We cant say he cost us the three points because we were only just shading it imo before the red. Pedro can only take blame for his subs from yesterday. Rossiter was always the best option to protect a back 3 and I'd have had Niko on instead of Pena to create something out of nothing, We now must take 3 points next week and I hope we get a reaction from them. As mentioned previously its been a lucky weekend for Celtic
  17. It's nice to be in a position where anyone can start and we'd all be reasonably happy. Compare that to last season when the line up could bring about some moaning. Jack just ahead of Rossiter for me just now but I expect that to change as the season progresses. A point on Miller. If a new signing had come in and made 2 the other night and scored 1 we'd be raving about him. Right now he is in that starting line up on merit and I'm happy for him to be there. Up front I agree with Frankie in that he will go with the more physical Herrera over Morelos. 3 points, excellent atmosphere and keep the momentum going. Buzzing
  18. I think they'll be conscious of the fact we've scored early in the last couple games. If we do it again then it should be a comfortable win. This will be the first battle this new Rangers team will face and I think we are more than up for it. Boss them all over the park. Send Lennon, Stokes and Whittaker home knowing they are nowhere near us. Hopefully the crowd is electric! I'm buzzing for it
  19. Another perfect example of it is today's ludicrous article about Tierney being the best Scottish footballer in the last 40 year. Utter nonsense. How does that even get published seriously. The boys a fine player, but articles like that are horrendous. Spiers is the worst for actual football knowledge. Pundits on the radio or tv are there to tell the audience stuff we don't know. Sportsound have never done that!
  20. The BBC Scotland sportsound team pander to the lowest common denominator of our sport. Like our best players, our best journo's are snapped up down south and we are left with utter dross up here. It's a great article Frankie but it's almost lose lose, keeping these guys relevant in this click bait world of 'journalism'. I have never once read an article by Spiers, English or the bald speccy one that actually talked about football and tactics. I could take that sort of analytical criticism if we were told we were conceding goals because player X wasn't doing what he should have. However, my bet is they don't know much about that side of the game and in fact didn't Spiers come out and say he didn't know much about tactics. Why are you a football journalist then? It'll get worse before it gets better
  21. I just don't think a club the size of Rangers should be settling for Away draws. Something needs to be done about it [emoji14]
  22. What's the deal with an away draw? Back 4 were solid and a clean sheet is always nice Rossiter kept it simple and never gave the ball away. We look really strong in this area now Candeias was excellent and what we've lacked for a good while. Never stopped running Miller was brilliant. Scoring and setting two up. Linked well with the Goledor I liked that Morelos on a hat trick was still looking to lay it off in and around the box instead of being greedy. Thought it showed a maturity. He could be a big player for us this season. Windass is like a new signing. Seems to have got stuck in lately. Tom mentioned in commentary that he's one of a few putting extra hours in at training which is excellent to hear
  23. Kiernan best away from us. I'd rather we got this Walker deal over the line sooner rather than later. Has the Naismith rumour cooled off?
