I think this guy is different, gs. He may yet turn out to have his hands tied, only time will tell, but so far he's doing and saying all the right things. Let's give him some breathing space before we tar him with the same brush as the others on the board.

so far so good, Mr Wallace.

Total respect to you, mate. You can be a pain in the arse, but thankfully you're *our* pain in the arse. Stuff like this is worth a million forum posts. and I think we *all* thank you for your pain-in-the-arsedness . We talk. You do.

exactly so, bud. This is as good as having T-shirts printed with the slogan; "Aye, there was a leak, but it didn't come from us" -
Plan 'S' For Scots Football: More Irish History
The Real PapaBear replied to andy steel's topic in Rangers Chat
The IRA command, like their supporters in their Janefield Street sporting wing, were always ready and willing to jump on any passing bandwagon and attach themselves to any other legitimate cause they thought would further their aims. I don't expect they promoted their 'socialism' too much when they were collecting funds from the Americans, who, true to form only decided to join the 'war on terror' well after we had been fighting it for years beforehand.- 14 replies

Plan 'S' For Scots Football: More Irish History
The Real PapaBear replied to andy steel's topic in Rangers Chat
Andy, you're on fire tonight, sir. Excellent writing as usual. However, whilst the journey was enjoyable, I think the destination leaves room for improvement. I'd make two observations about your article: the first is that you ask and I presume the questions are rhetorical - because you know the answer. You can, indeed must, argue all of the above, because it is the right, and thus only, thing to do. It really doesn't matter what Celtic FC, the plastic paddy guevarras of the 'green brigade' or Paddy Mcginty's goat say, think or sing. The only thing that need concern us is that *we* do the right thing and get our own house in order. The second thing I'd note is that every word written about the vacuous nonentity that is Graham Spiers is wasted time, effort and bandwidth. I implore you not to waste any more of your time or ours writing about someone whose pretentiousness is matched only by his affectation and hypocricy and who has nothing of value to say about Scottish football - or indeed anything else come to that.- 14 replies

we're all pretty much anonymous anyway, so it may be of more use to you to post your questions to the forum and see what answers you get. There's quite a wide range of opinion here, so what you get from the forum should be of more value than one or two individuals.

Did he not do that with that young Italian fella Gattuso? Whatever happened to him?
-
As far as I recall he was simply a bit of a round peg in a square hole at Ibrox - a great player on his game, but maybe lacked the toughness needed for the game in Scotland. He certainly flowered when he moved to the English game and was allowed to show what he could do in midfield. He reminded me in some ways of Le Tissier at Southampton - some guys need to be a big fish in a small pond before they can deliver their best. I don't think he regarded us as a stepping stone when he arrived, but things just didn't work out for him in the team of that time.

Ah, that was when a team photo was a team photo.

I suspect it may have been the same one I bought Did it have a team photo on the front with half the squad in blue tops and the other half in the vertical blue and white stripes?

Venom? I was being nice. I could go through your post line by line, but it would simply be an exercise in correction. Half the stuff you write is attributing things to me which I did not say - where, for example did I say that you or any other ex-pat is insignificant? Where did I say that Celtic are driving the agenda?- and the other half is irrelevant to what is being discussed - what relevance is it that every club has some numpties? As to whether I have the right to tell people how to conduct themselves, I'd have thought it was pretty obvious; it's both a right and a responsibility to do so, if those people are behaving in a way which is anti-social, criminal or damaging to the club. What's the alternative? Just shut up and look the other way and leave it up to outsiders to force reform upon us?

And you're not in the least curious about this CD? The fact that you've been told it exists is good enough for you? No questions asked? I'm guessing you've been scouring the web trying to prove that it does and I'm guessing you're just not finding it. But you still believe it exists, this elusive loyalist cd. Very odd.

If you think that Rangers has a "Global" following, with or without the protestant/unionist baggage, you are deluding yourself, mate. Man Utd, Bayern, Real Madrid, Juventus and Milan have global followings. What we have is a couple of thousand expats and their families and the odd masochist like dB or Shane from CRO. The protestant / unionist baggage is nothing more than an albatros around our necks and there is almost nothing that could make us less attractive to a global audience. We are actually in the middle of the very process which, if we play it right, could define our club and how we are perceived all over the world for generations to come. That word is loyalty - not loyalism. I can tell you for a fact that the wider football family in Europe and further afield has noticed the reaction of Rangers fans to our catastophe . We have an opportunity now and for the next season to capitalise on that and brand ourselves as truly the greatest fans in the world - all we have to do is drop the - sorry Andy - knuckledraggers and the poisonous baggage they bring. We took at a very minimum 150,000 people to the final in Manchester; the biggest movement of people in Europe since the end of WW2. Do people remember that expresson of love and the stunning display of loyalty to the club? No, what they remember is a couple of hundred neds, tanked up and causing trouble. 99.5% undone by 0.5% We are the 12th most supported club in Europe - and that's while we are in the lower divisions of a joke league. We have higher attendances than any team in France or Italy; only the big two in Spain have higher numbers than we do and outside of Germany only one other club has more - Ajax. But who knows this? Nobody. And why not? Because it suits the agenda of too many people, most of all celtic, to have us seen as an orange/unionist/loyalist dinosaur. Once again, we are allowing others to set the agenda which only serves to damage the club.
-
Does that include people who glorify terrorists?
-
Yes, I attend matches., thanks for asking. I share a season ticket with two other family members. How about yourself? Just weekends I'd imagine. it'll be tough getting to games on a school night. Now, back to the CD that you "know" Rangers released with loyalist songs "a while back"- any further develoments on that? A name? Catalogue number? Even the label would do. Christ, I'd be happy if you could pin it down to a decade. You can google if it helps. Run a check on Spotify, see if they've got anything.
-
You *do* know that any changes you make are visibile only to you, Ryan? You *do* know that, right?
-
they same ones that are on the CD?
-
Which background have you changed there, Ryan?
-
Quite a while ago in a galaxy far, far away? A cruel person might think that you're just making stuff up and saying the first thing that comes into your head. Again.
-
When did Rangers bring out a CD with loyalist songs on it? Any chance you could give me the name of this CD? I'll nip right out and get one.
-
A stunning riposte, Sir; simply stunning. Witty, erudite and full of pith. At least that's how I think you spell it.
