I don't quite get your point, Zappa. Are you saying you wanted Black punished more severely, or that actual offences on the pitch are punished too harshly? I don't see the connection between the two indiscretions. If we are going to start hammering every player who has a sly fiver on the football, we might as well all give up and move to China. I've already said if he was doing it for financial gain that he should have been hammered, but he wasn't. He's just an idiot. The moral indignation of some of us about this, is what annoys me. He's just a daft boy, that made a daft mistake. The case with the boy from Motherwell a while back, when he was betting about a sending off, was much more serious. This was nothing like that. If Black had gotten a 6 month ban up his hole, the forums would be flooded with, it's aw a conspiracy against us. The disciplinary system might well be a joke full of inconsistencies, but I actually think they got this one spot on.

Keith Jackson: Rangers fans will have to decide..............
TheTinMan99 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The problem is, our support can't agree on the colour of shite, nevermind who should be in charge. On paper, we have around 11% of the company, but in reality we have 100% of the power. Two or three boycotts of home games would see us get exactly who we wanted in in the boardroom. The AGM is the support handing over the power and decision making to those rich enough to think they can buy control of the club. Without the supports consent, they are major shareholders in an empty vessel, and their shares are virtually worthless. Will we finally wake up and take the control back? Naw, we will keep fucking about backing individual agenda's, while the club falls apart around our ears again.- 45 replies

I'm not saying the actions are irrelevant, but he broke the rules and received punishment for it, albeit a tad harsh in my opinion. What else would you like to happen? It wasn't an attempt to gain financially to the detriment of Rangers. If it was, I would be right behind you with the pitchfork. Personally, I'd like him out of Ibrox, but to try use this as an easy way out is pretty low.

You would have a good point if he had a grand or so on it, but he had a fiver to win about a score. It's hardly crime of the century. He's guilty of being stupid and not knowing the rules, nothing else. I suppose you're one of these folk that's never broken the law or even had a parking ticket. People taking the moral high ground over a fiver bet for fun is laughable.

What doesn't wash with you? He put a fiver on a draw, and then scored to pump his own bet. It's been blown out of proportion, and he's done nothing that deserves all the drama. I say that as someone that isn't a big fan of him.

I'd rather it was pissed away on the team, than on directors bonuses, and god knows what else. There's no need to spend the sort of money that Murray was spending. We just need to cut out the excessive non-football expenses.

Tom English: Ian Black betting punishment mystery
TheTinMan99 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Black's getting a fairly easy ride on this because he actually started to come on to a game this season. I have a feeling if this came out last year, when he was mostly shite, that Green would have had him in the same taxi as Sandaza. The board do seem to not have an opinion on this, unless I've missed it. -
Of course, 2/3 years of coming second would be almost acceptable and expected, but the position this mob are putting us in, it could be decades before we recover. It's a scandal that they have fucked it up so badly, when we had a clean slate to start from and almost zero debt. There is much more chance of King putting his money into the team than any of this current mob. Not one of them can afford to lose money on us, they only take out. You can't say the same about King. He puts his money where his mouth is for the benefit of the club.

If Jig isn't up top, he shouldn't be in the team. He's a bomb scare in any other position, although we get away with it against teams like Arbroath. If anyone is getting shoe-horned in, it's Daly. It should be a straight choice between him and Jig for the target man role, and in my opinion, Jig is better in that position. He's also a better goalscorer than Daly. We actually looked pretty shite until temps came on and gave us a bit of spark going forward. We will get away with it this season, but next year we will have to be on the ball from the start, especially away from home.

I think I must be one of the few that doesn't care what the books say, or what Murray and McColl's plan may or may not be. I've already seen and heard enough to want every single current board member out on their arse with as little profit as possible. The fact that it's even a debate within our support between the two shareholder factions, goes a long way to explain how we ended up in the shit, and how it continues to be a pantomine. The people have the power, and as is the norm of today, we choose to hand it over to a few individuals who may or may not have the clubs best interests at heart. If this current board win this power struggle at the AGM, then I genuinely fear for our prospects of ever challenging for major honours for decades. Maybe it will take coming second best to the ******** for a few years, for some people top wake up and realise that the money is fleeing out the back door, and not being used for the benefit of the club. We can't say nobody tried to warn us....

When Murray takes close on £4m from the club, like chucky did, then you have the right to give him the same level of scrutiny. You seem willing to give everyone and his uncle a chance, apart from people who obviously care for the club, and not just their bottom line.

Have we got enough blazers? Both sides have went from 100% confident of winning, to this pish. Surely the whole point of Blin, was to replace Stockbridge? Mental.

I quite enjoy the civil nature of this site, compared to others, but if ever a word was invented for Murdo, then "fud" would be it.

The same people will be up in arms in 2/3 years time once it sinks in how much damage they have caused us. I still live in hope that McColl has some long term masterplan up his sleeve, otherwise it's more of the same for a decade. If only he was a Unionist. Sigh.
