  1. Lets look at his performance after us. Scotland - Did well over the piece though it's fair to say Walter had already developed a well organised unit. Despite good results he also lost to Georgia. Birmingham - won the 2nd rate cup in England but also got relegated. Twice. Aston Villa - The worst manager in their history with an abysmal win ratio of 21.43 %. Nottingham Forest - Less said about that the better
  2. Did well with Advocaat's team, terrible thereafter. Signed a plethora of useless players, got record old firm defeats, got beaten by Viktoria Zizkov with a team of highly paid internationalists, finished 3rd in a 2 team league, played terrible football in the later seasons and constantly played players out of position to ill effect. Also, how many games was it he went without a win at one point? I seem to remember it was at least 10? He has since proven his incompetency at other clubs. Both him and Ally are of the same level. By the end of it all everyone wanted rid of him, people seem to forget and bizarrely want him back. His current employment status speaks volumes. The only excuse given for retaining him was he was a 'good guy', which is much like the excuse given for Ally that he 'holds us together'.
  3. I don't know what we have done to deserve having had him and Ally managing us. Both of the same ilk.
  4. I completely agree with him as well. I just find him using that turn of phrase ridiculous given his beliefs.
  5. We will only play diddy teams this summer to avoid embarrassment.
  6. That ship has sailed.
  7. He brings it all on himself and the sympathy he receives is sickening. If he didn't act like a cantankerous delinquent nobody would pay him any attention.
  8. As if he is a man of god. A man of drink and violence more like.
  9. Don't get me started on the signings. Out of 25 signings nigh on 20 have been very poor.
  10. He's taking the absolute piss earning those wages and serving up that football.
  11. • Surrendered a colossal 15 point lead to Celtic in the SPL (they had 2 games in hand granted), overturned in just 7 weeks (5th Nov - 24th Dec 2011). By 8th Feb 2012 Celtic were 10 points ahead - a total swing of 25 points in just 12 weeks or so. • Knocked out of the League Cup, beaten 3-2 by 1st Division outfit, Falkirk. • Knocked out of the Scottish Cup, beaten 2-0 by Dundee Utd. • Knocked out of the Champions League by Swedish minnows, Malmo. • Knocked out of the Europa League by Slovenian minnows, Maribor. • Gubbed 1-0 by Kilmarnock in our first game after going into Administration. Over the following 3 weeks we were also beaten 2-1 by Hearts and 2-1 by Dundee Utd. • Just managed to narrowly scrape a 2-1 win against part-time minnows, Brechin City in the Ramsdens Pawnbrokers Cup at Glebe Park - needing a last gasp, extra time goal to do so. • Just managed to scrape a 2-2 draw with part-time minnows, Peterhead at Balmoor - needing a last gasp, last minute goal to do so. • Just managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with part-time minnows, Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park. • Just managed to scrape a 1-0 win against part-time minnows, Forres Mechanics at Mosset Park - after Forres were reduced to ten men. • Just managed to scrape a 0-0 draw with part-time minnows, Annan Athletic at Galabank. Despite being 5 games into the season, and playing in the basement rungs of Scottish football with SPL players we were still without an away win, sitting fourth in the table. • Horsed out of the Ramsdens Pawnbrokers Cup by Queen Of The South 4-3 on penalties after failing to beat them over 120 minutes of turgid clogging. • Beaten 1-0 by a Stirling Albion side, nestled snugly at the base of Scottish football's fourth tier, and who had just lost their previous five games on the trot. • Finally managed an away win in the fourth tier by scraping a narrow win against 10-man Clyde at Broadwood. • Horsed out of the League Cup by Inverness Caley Thistle who trounced us 3-0 at Ibrox. The scoreline was kept to 3-0 only by an outstanding performance from Neil Alexander, without whom it could easily have been 5 or 6. • Just managed to scrape a 1-0 win against 10-man Queens Park at Hampden - needing a last gasp, 92nd minute, injury time goal to do so. • Just managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with part-time minnows Elgin City at Ibrox - after Elgin had been reduced to 10 men. • Just managed to scrape a narrow 1-0 win over 10-man Peterhead at Balmoor, with a Fran Sandaza tap-in (his first goal in five months) after keeper Graeme Smith had spilled the ball. • Just managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with Montrose at Ibrox - needing an own goal from Montrose's Jonathan Crawford to do so. • Knocked out of the Scottish Cup, after being absolutely destroyed 3-0 by Dundee Utd - the same team that knocked us out of the cup the previous year. • Just managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with part-time minnows, Stirling Albion at Forthbank - when Stirling were sitting joint bottom of the fourth tier. We managed just 1 point out of a potential 6 at Forthbank that season. • Gubbed 2-1 at Ibrox by an Annan Athletic, a side sitting 34 points behind us, and nestled in second-bottom place at the base of Scottish football's fourth tier. It was only Annan's second away win of the season, having only won 7 league games out of 28 played thus far. • Just managed to scrape a 1-0 win against part-time minnows, Elgin City at Borough Briggs, needing a 73rd minute penalty to do so. • Just managed to scrape a 0-0 draw with part-time minnows, Stirling Albion at Ibrox. • Just managed to scrape a 0-0 draw with part-time minnows, Montrose at Links Park - after Montrose had a perfectly legitimate winning volley from Martin Boyle disallowed. • Gubbed 2-1 at Ibrox by Peterhead, the day after Charles Green stepped down. • Horsed out of the League Cup in the first round by Forfar Athletic, 2-1 in extra time, after failing to beat them over 90 minutes. • Just managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with Stranraer at Ibrox, needing a penalty in which to do so. • Just managed to scrape a narrow 3-2 win over Arbroath at Ibrox, needing another dubious penalty award and a highly fortuitous deflection to do so. This was after falling behind twice to the second-bottom placed team, who were FORTY FOUR points behind us prior to kick off. • Just managed to scrape a 3-3 draw with Stenhousemuir at Ibrox, needing an own-goal by Ross McMillan to do so. That was after falling behind TWICE. • Just managed to scrape a 1-0 win over East Fife at Bayview with a 95th minute goal, courtesy of a penalty. • Just managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox. • Losing the Ramsdens Pawnbrokers Cup Final in extra time to Raith Rovers.
  12. I agree. Something people also don't like to talk about is Giggs has been very mediocre for several seasons now, not having a huge influence on play. Man Utd's midfield has been very weak for years and he's been a key part of that. Also, even in modern times, the likes of Ronaldo, Vieira, Henry, Drogba etc have all been elite level players that I'd rate as far better than Giggs ever was.
  13. It's a shame Simeone lost the plot but he won the Spanish league which is seen as impossible and he was a baw hair away from CL glory. He has an absolutely terrific future and he was one of my favourite players as a kid. A real tenacious player and absolutely world class.
  14. Honestly, some of the stuff you read fellow bears posting is beyond reasonable belief. Signing Lampard would have been unlikely when we were trying to sign Ronaldo, Vialli and Van Nistelorooy. Let alone in 11/12 when we couldn't even afford to sign Gary Conway. Some fans are so out of line with reality that I'm delighted fan ownership will never happen.
  15. to be honest anything associated with the RST will always make me skeptical due to the MD affiliation and the fact he used to constantly ban me on FF in the 00's for no reason.
  16. If you favour adventurous, attacking play perhaps you should doth your hat in the direction of Barca because unlike their rivals they consistently play the game correctly and don't buy their way to success. In fact it is utterly remarkable that a team of such wealth like Barca probably rely on youth more than any other club in Europe. Messi, Puyol, Pique, Fabregas, Valdes, Alba, Iniesta, Xavi, Pedro etc. You could just about form a team of players produced through their youth system, whereas I can't think of fuck all players that Real Madrid the cash whore have produced. Spain and Barca are all that is glorious about the game and I only hope that Luis Enrique restores Barca to their great self (albeit not to the expense of Chelsea). I cannot comprehend why anyone would show any respect to Real Madrid. They are an absolute atrocity of a football club with no redeeming qualities.
  17. Which is hugely ironic because at least in the big games they were very negative and entirely focused on counter attacking this season. Against Bayern and Barca this season they barely touched the ball for long spells and I don't think a team with such resources should ever be doing this. I also don't recall them finishing third under Jose. I agree with Atletico not being anti-football. Well drilled is a very salient way of putting it and is exactly how I consider them. I feel sides like Real Madrid should always play attacking football given their resources, and I include my team Chelsea here. Above all else, I watched a lot of Atletico this season and can't recall many times they 'launched' the ball. Ally take note.
  18. They certainly played some terrific stuff in the galactico era (though they went through some really bad spells too) but that's a long time ago. Atletico Madrid do not play adventurous football and are not a possession based team either. They are at their best when they don't have the ball and are all about organisation and defensive play. I read an excellent article recently actually which basically said they play exactly as Simeone did when he was a player. Whilst I'm not a fan of such play, given their resources their success is admirable. They won the league with a squad that cost less than 10% of Reals so clearly they are not going to be playing attacking football v such a side. Real Madrid consistently played negatively in big games this season, most notably against Bayern and Barca. They allowed the opposition to have all the possession and counter attacked with huge pace. I don't think they deserve any credit at all, they needed a 93rd minute goal to avoid defeat to a team that cost the same as Fulham.
  19. Are you being serious? Ancelotti is known for playing negative football, Real have not played good football at any stage this season. They counter attacked well against Bayern in the semi but Bayern had all the possession. Real have played much more defensively this season than they normally do. The team that attempts to play football the way it is intended is Barca. Although plenty times in Spain also do likewise eg Bilbao. Real played better football under Jose and he is hardly known for playing attacking football. At the end of the day, Real finished 3rd in La Liga. Behind Atletico who were assembled on a shoe string budget and below the worst Barca in donkey's years. They sneaked past Atletico tonight despite having a team that cost over 10 times more.
  20. I can't stand him either. Played shite but acted like it was all about him. He is undoubtedly a phenomenal player but I have seen him barely touch the ball in loads of big games.
  21. I've always had my suspicions
  22. He must mean the Arsenal shares?
