Or to be playing with 'better players'. There are 2 excuses players are often given when it comes to their performances being suspect. The first is that they need time, a run in the team, a real prolonged period to settle in before you can judge them. The second is the players they're playing alongside - if those colleagues are mediocre and off form then surely it will affect said other player, yes? Well, imho, Wylde's display on Thursday blew both arguments out of the water and then some. For example, El Hadj Diouf's current form is being excused because he's playing alongside Whittaker, Edu etc. Players who aren't exactly bleeding edge and who aren't on form. But call me crazy, SO DID WYLDE! And yet looked sparkling. The other excuse is the player needs time - well that was Wylde's debut at that sort of level, and while he's flirted with the first team, this was his first real assertive start. And guess what, he was our best player! By a mile. I find a lot of excuses are given to players in order to justify our support of them, when the likes of Greg Wylde showed you don't need time or great colleagues to shine yourself if you have ability. Maybe Fleck could learn a thing or two from him.

So is this to say Lennon's life was and is at risk for the same reasons from the nutters in our supporter? I despise Lennon and consider him a bigoted scumbag, but I do sense some double standards going on here.

Frankie wrote a very fair article recently branding Neil Lennon his own worst enemy, and giving a comparison as a player of Diouf. And this thread is why. I find it curious how as fans we condemned Lennon's behaviour, but (in places) condone Diouf's which is equally as incendiary. He's making a bit of a rod for his own back, as Lennon did. I'd compare Diouf to Novo in a way. If you get involved with the OF you have to act a bit more responsibly than many of these players/managers are.

Clearly Bartley's played his way into being a first choice, and Bougherra will always start if fit, so could the 3 central defenders be to ensure the captain plays? In saying that, Bartley COULD be put in midfield for a 4-4-2 formation...

It wasn't even laughable that we used our ultra defensive European formation in a bread and butter SPL game. If the reason was because they're '4th' then that's pathetic. Seeing 5 at the back was just awful, and there really wasn't an excuse for it.

Even the most reasonable fans from the dark half of Glasgow fully believe Lennon hasn't caused the barrage of crap he gets. You point out all his own crimes from the past and they say 'source'. Best you get is 'he's no angel' as if that covers the scumbag he actually is. Lennon's conduct of the past has ignited the morons on our side and that of other clubs to drive appalling campaigns against him. The campaigns I don't condone, but Lennon is guilty of inciting them.

A quite preposterous ommission to exclude McGregor who clearly would win this by a mile. There has to be a sinister reason why he's not there. Not a single post in favour of him playing on. Not hard to see why. tbh he did ok tonight, but he had 2 pacey defenders to back him up and bail him out. He was flat on his heels so often. I doubt there's a single supporter who wants Weir on the playing staff next season. It would be a huge mistake to keep him on in that capacity.

tbh, I was more shocked Lawell conceded Lennon had let Celtic down. First time in a long time they've actually condemned anything from their own house.

He just isn't a good player. His technical ability is nil, and while he was able to score plenty of goals in the SPL, the Championship is a much higher level. It's no surprise he never scored in the CL, never scored against Celtic in a meaningful match, and indeed as far as I know I think he only ever scored one or two goals in the Uefa Cup. Against Livorno for PLG I seem to remember. I wish I had an ounce of sympathy for him, but as soon as he started to hold us to ransom last January year, I went right off him and wish him only failure.
