  1. Serious question - what does he do? Anyone know, what's his remit? Seems to have joined the club and vanished.
  2. And the eleven in royal blue are all proven international players with experience of winning titles, cups and in some cases playing in a European final. The manager deserves better than that.
  3. I think Wenger has had his time. His philosophy is admirable, but that's now 7 years without a trophy and with every season another team seems to be sneaking ahead of them - spurs, man city, Liverpool - so that it's getting to the point that Europa league qualification will be their target.
  4. Slightly playing devils advocate here, but we won our last game 4-1. The only change was forced on him by injury and was one that the majority were hoping for anyway. Realistically what could and should he have changed in the last week? I'm not an apologist for Ally, I also have reservations about his ability to do the job, but the same players that won last week shouldve been more than able to take care of business today.
  5. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2012/02/16/former-celtic-stopper-alan-stubbs-i-ve-got-no-complaints-over-titles-rangers-won-while-i-was-at-parkhead-86908-23753192/ Alan Stubbs article
  6. I happened to hear that on the way to work. The glee in Spiersy's voice when the word 'liquidation' came up... I'm sure he was frantically beating himself off as he was talking.
  7. I'm purely talking short term to see us through to the end of the season. His versatility combined with his personality makes him, for me, pretty important. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea. This situation though shows up the farce of the transfer window. Also, this could be wrong, but I had seen somewhere that players would be classed as creditors and therefore would help make up the 75% that wouldn't be HMRC so possibly keeping the high earners would benefit us assuming they were flexible. Dunno how accurate this is. A wee question though, if this is the case does the debt owed to them total their wages for the length of their contract i.e. 52 weeks @ 20k for example?
  8. Honestly I don't think we can make a judgement at this time. It appears he's taking us for a ride but it could - I stress could - be a clever gameplan.
  9. If we're talking about keeping any of the more 'senior' players, I would like to see McCulluch staying. But I doubt Ally will be given much choice in the matter.
  10. Could be wrong but I think I read with regard to Tevez that Russia is open till march.
  11. If we were starting from the third division, that gives us three years. With the name, the support and the history surely getting back to the SPL would be a formality. Once there, I honestly don't think it would take long before the status quo would return.
  12. Yeah, I wasn't entirely sure. I wasn't sure if it was maybe in a calender year. But surely that will limit who we can sell them to?
  13. Craig it wasn't a you are stupid post, it was obviously a you're on drugs post. I've advocated this approach since MacLeish was buying mladenovic and the likes to try and get us on a stable footing, so with this you're preaching to the converted in my case. Even if we were in a healthy selling position we would be lucky to get about 2.5 for Davis. He's not cut out for the EPL. The players you've listed I reckon we should be happy with between 12-14 million. The wages saved would be the big deal here. With the administration in place, we would be lucky to get about 8 million. Still, it is something and I apologise if my initial post appeared flippant and messed with your crack-ravaged mind ;-) That was a joke btw
  14. Although thinking about it, the window for the majority won't open till the summer so that's not really much of an issue.
  15. Another issue is the likes of Celik and Bedoya who have already played for two clubs and cannot play for a third until next season.
  16. A theory that I think may not be too far off the mark.
  17. 4 million for Davis? You on crack?
  18. Was wondering if he was about to ride in on his white charger. I think it's called Moonbeam!

    Aluko

Here's something I don't quite get. Whyte obviously didn't just wake up this morning and think yeah, administration that's the way to go, it's obviously been in the cards for a bit, so why sign cousin? We're gonna get a ten point penalty so that takes us completely out of the running for the league do its a complete waste of £7500 a week. But aluko hasn't had his contract extended. Worst case scenario, with the form he's been in, we sell him in the summer rather than lose him for nowt as it stands. Best case scenario, he's there for the next season or two contributing, which cousin won't be. Why???
  20. I really feel for Ally... I honestly don't think we'll ever know what sort of manager he could've been for Rangers because I don't think he'll survive the backlash from all the off-field goings on. The more I hear and read, he's fighting a losing battle.
  21. Thing is, there have been quite a few games I would've expected us to win lately that haven't exactly gone according to plan.
  22. I think attitude is the main thing - the majority of these players were playing at the start of the season when we did actually play some decent stuff - not world beating, but at least SPL beating - and the loss of form has come hand in hand with a loss in confidence and an apparent defeatist attitude. But there are obvious (well, to me) tactical errors that need sorted. Is it just me or does it make sense, if we're going to stick with the Wallace and Papac left back & left wing option that the one who can defend plays in defence and the one who gets forward better plays in the more forward position?
  23. Of course he loved SDM, he paid him whatever he demanded without thinking twice. I hesitate to use the term 'financial prudence' regarding Whyte, but maybe he's cautiously making sure that the deal is going to right for us instead of the agent.
  24. Obviously it's possible, but at the moment I don't see us having the fight to take advantage of any sort of slip by them. Even if we win the remaining OF games I honestly can't see us not dropping points to, well basically anyone in the league. I envisage a fair few horrific 0-0 draws for us between now and MAy :-(
  25. Dare I say it, on his day he was a better player than Jelavic. He was more direct and more comfortable running with the ball and he was a beast of a man. But I don't think anyone was ever totally convinced that his heart was always in it, which is the big concern. I've no doubt if he signs he'll be up for the Old Firm games and could easily get us points there, but is he going to put in the shifts we need between now and the end of the season against Killie and St Mirren etc to get three points there? And I suppose the biggest problem looking at the last match against Utd, is he going to get the service a striker needs?
