This bit is excellent:

"But the United chairman has always got something to moan about - especially when it has anything to do with Rangers.

There is no doubt in my mind he was pandering to United fans with his comments. And not for the first time either.

Thompson certainly hasn't had anything quite as bad to say about the club on the other side of Glasgow over the years."

when an apprentice finishes his apprenticeship in the rolls Royce factory then goes to general electric do rolls get compensation of course they don't and neither should rangers more to the point sack the fool who let the contract run out .

That's hardly comparable.

Telfer is getting a pretty easy ride through all this. The club is being blamed, it's all the fault of McCoist or the coaches is the accepted narrative. Our club is a mess, but in the end Telfer chose to walk away and sign for a club that's got a serious hard-on for Rangers. Rangers players who achieved and contributed far, far more to our club have been demonised by many in our support for leaving our club in the past, yet Telfer is seen as put-upon soul trying his best to get on in the world whilst being dragged back by big bad dysfunctional Rangers. It's funny how we view some events.

The rule was not made for Rangers, it was made for smaller clubs being raped for decades, as they did all the scouting, rearing, and ended up with a few quid for their efforts, if anything at all. Rolls Royce or General Electric can always snap up well-trained apprentices from one another with essentially no harm done to either company.

If a player is highly regarded by his club, wouldn't he be offered a contract renewal prior to another club showing interest in him?

is that not one of the conditions????

If the club has not made a contract offer, then there is no fee????

He went to join a club who were interested in him and wanted to help develop his career. Imagine that.
