The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread

Recommended Posts

There are transfers to be done it's time to get the finger out and get these moves made lets not get caught sleeping

Agreed. Ive barely been commenting on the hearsay. I prefer when we just get things done quietly and over the line. But the so called media need papers to fill at the moment.

Id take Dorrans first, a sensible signing.

I think we might go for 2 marquee-type (permanent) signings & push the boat out for them, then followed by 3-4 "smart" signings - guys like Dorrans who are better than what we've currently got, but available for free.

A couple of very influential signings can make a massive difference to the rest of the existing players.

What we need is a half back so hard but skilful that will make opponents tremble somewhere between a souness and a Hurlock

I'd love to see that myself but fear he'd spend more time at Hampden in front of disciplinary committees than actually playing.

It's Rangers we're talking about here mate.

That type of player wouldn't last 5mins in the "modern" game - too many prima donas, who get injured if the wind changes direction.

Why are they waiting on the Whyte case? That has nothing whatsoever to do with the EBT case.

If the EBT case goes against the old company / Murray then it is a judgement against Murray. Murray is a key witness in the criminal case against Whyte in front of a jury. The fraud case may then be compromised. Therefore they will probably let that run its course before announcing their judgement. . Think about it - the EBT case was months ago. They have obviously made their mind up already and are waiting for something. The old company which owned Ibrox and Auchenhowie has not been liquidated yet. If Whyte bought these assets fraudulently they still belong to oldco. Oldco may well owe the taxman 90m. That is the problem. HMRC may be easier to deal with but they won't just go away much as we wish they would. If Whyte never legally owned the assets neither he or D&P on his behalf could sell them. That's the plain logic. Need to keep feet on terra firma hence my concern about endless lists of players we appear to be buying.

dont think posion from the tree argument works in UK law. Any loss would be held against the perpetrator not the oldco.

What happened to the transfer rumours and hearsay?

Just trying not to get carried away. Folk can come up with long lists if they want. Id be more inclined to think along the lines of 2 or 3 priority positions. Centre half, centre midfield, goal scoring forward.
