  1. Irrespective of what you think of his form this season (and whether or not he should be retained for next), McGregor has been a fantastic servant to the club and well deserving of an honour not many Rangers players can say they've had. I think it's fair to say he's a legend and amongst the very best 'keepers we've had.

  2. No denying he’s been a great keeper over the years. I don’t hold with these testimonials for players who have been very well paid over the years. If it’s for recognition/appreciation and not for personal monetary gain and monies to charity that would be fine.

  3. A win & 3 points is always top priority but the level of performance is sometimes a bit of a concern. We still seem to struggle at home to break down teams who set out to defend deep in numbers and generally to frustrate us. And the tempo of our games is too slow & the game plan predictable. We don’t seem to be able to get behind defences in more central areas often enough to create scoring opportunities. Hopefully in the summer recruitment we’ll see players who can change this

  4. Looks like I'm in the minority but considering we we're up against a back 6, 3 man midfield and an Andy Carroll ordered off wish which were all camped inside their last third I'll take that performance and result every day of the week. Saw a lot worse home performances when we won 55 by the way. Tillman needs bought though, we just can't pass up a lad at his age with that potential for what? 6m? Not arsed if we're stocked with 10's, the kid oozes class. My Motm.

  5. Anyone at the B game? Rangers started well took the lead then our keeper red carded and Celtic equalise. Today's ref on course to be fast tracked to SPL. He is horrendous.

  6. The problem any Rangers manager has just now is that Celtc are beating everyone comfortably. We need to beat everyone and beat them more than they beat us, otherwise we win nothing.

  9. Its a yellow unless a goalscoring opportunity - this wasn't a goalscoring opportunity. This ref will go far in Scottish Football.

  10. Thing is, we simply do not adapt to games and hardly have done so in ages. Even with Beale, we "only" put new players into the same setup and hope they come good. We threw a true attacker on the left side of a nominal 3-man line in the form of Sakala and lo-and-behold, he creates and scores goals, is a constant dangerous menace to the defense. We threw in Cantwell - who has been a revelation (in contrast to others in the squad) - with his spark, anticipation, and willingness to shoot. And, lo-and-behold, he creates and scores goals, is a constant menace to the defense. And if need be, he tracks back and clears balls from his own area - like he did yesterday. And then there is Tillman, youthful confidence paired with youthful fearlessness/haughtiness, but bags of talent. Like every player out there, he has some spells when he drifts out of the game, but ... he creates and scores goals, is a constant menace to the defense. These are the guys that will carry Rangers onwards from here on, with Raskin, Hagi, Ridvan and hopefully some more waiting for game time. There comes a time when even the last one with a love for "stability" (or however you will call it) sees that some people have simply run their course with us. I doubt anyone questions the effort shown by those out there in our jersey, yet, if it yields no end product and titles, one has to rethink. Still, we also need to adapt to their strengths, not press them into our inadequate - for most Scottish games - system. It was horrendous to see two DMs (better than previous players in that role, but neither known for their attacking prowess) having next to nothing to do and thus trying to run into open spaces and help the attack (find the error). After our goal, one of our centre-halfs was constantly near their penalty area, and although the Arabs were truly poor, that should set some bells ringing too. Yet, we kept this going till 73 mins, when Wright finally replaced (bang-average again) Tavernier, Lundstram dropping into the back-3-role ... yet Sakala replacing Morelos in a positional 1-1 change (unnecessary, even though Alfredo is still a shadow of his former self). And just 5 mins before the 90, we finally throw some cavalry on, Souttar (for Jack) completing the back-3 now, Lundstram as DM and Arfield in a 1-1 swap with Cantwell, and Colak replacing another attacker in Tillman. That final line up was anyone's guess though, as "Mr. Irreplacable" Kent was running all over the pitch like he did all game, leaving Barisic to do much of the left-wing work on his own. Maybe something like ... McGregor Souttar - Goldson - Davies Lundstram Wright - Arfield - Kent - Barisic Sakala -Colak IMHO, we could have started the game with such a line-up easily enough, as the Arabs provided next to no danger on the wings. Obviously with different personnel, i.e. Jack instead of Lundstram, Tillman instead of Arfield, and Cantwell instead of Kent.

  11. Never been to Milan. Florence a few times so I favour the Viola. Back to auld claes an’ paiirritch. You’ll be disappointed to have missed a big indy march on 1 April. Quite a lot of dispirited folk, most of them in clown garb, trudging down the Royal Mile, one woman screaming to end the occupation of Scotland. Imagine missing that for Italy.

  12. @Scott7, the food inside the San Siro didn't look great but there was plenty of good food available at vans outside (a bit like Ibrox, albeit slightly better on both counts). Had a cracking day, despite Inter losing. The San Siro itself is something else. I really hope they don't knock it down.

  13. The performance was OK but not great - I've seen worse from title winning Rangers teams. Kent wasn't nearly as bad as some (OK, just the usual suspects) are saying. Anyway, Beale has improved this team by miles but there has to be a limit to what can be achieved without a significant number of better players. Maybe we're just at that limit now and no amount of hysterical fan reaction is going to change that. Another three points, another clean sheet, a 500 game goalie and on we go.

  15. It baffles me, it’s not as if we know nothing about our opponents and how they will play.

  21. Too bad no-one wanted a bet on Kent ... So much effort, so little end product. Not against him, it's just so frustrating time and time again. And then something need to change. Tillman, Cantwell and Sakala show how it is done.

  22. Tillmans best game by far. First time he's showed up for the whole game.

  23. Any bets that Kent won't come off? For all his work, the difference in end product that Tillman and Cantwell provide playing in similar roles is staggering. You'd hope we actually deal Tillman in for longer than his loan.

  25. Goal and Kents effort apart, been a very drab 1st half against a team who have no intention of playing football. Hopefully a couple more goals for us in 2nd half.

  28. Ash as been noted, Jack and Lundstram are not required, one of them should be enough. We clearly need another attacker, as those 2 or 3 up there are swamped by 6+ defenders. We will most likely score a goal or two and they might open up, but why not change Plan A from the beginning ... BTW, Tillman get's no protection whatsoever from the ref.

  29. Hoping to see Yilmaz and Tillman back in the team. Hoping there are better midfield options than Lundstram. Just seen Hagi post on Instagram he is I’ll so won’t be involved sadly.

  30. It's definitely legitimate. It's just also definitely poorly timed and clearly unhelpful. But, as you so effectively demonstrate, everyone is entitled to an opinion, however misguided. 😂😉 What would be of far more help to the entire Rangers family right now is to put an item of heavy outdoor footwear through that bloody drum of theirs.

  31. Correct. Put this Time For Change muppetry back in the cupboard until we see the playing squad at the end of the next transfer window. Right now, we can do without this negativity.

  33. Yet Rangers can beat Dortmund in a match that actually matters, while Scotland lose home and away to Wales in WC qualifiers. Which shows you can make a case for anything if you chose carefully. Better to stick to the big picture ... club sides from big leagues have more money to attract the best players from all countries and win most club tournaments .... and countries that have most players playing club football in the big leagues win almost all international tournaments. Sure, there are occasional exceptions but the broad picture is that club and international success march in step to the same tune. What's to get excited about?

  34. I'm going against the grain, I find myself enjoying international football more these days than for a long time. When I started taking a serious interest in football going to watch Scotland was as normal as going to watch Rangers. I barely missed a Scotland home match from around 1982 to 1989 or so. Then, like a lot of Rangers supporters, my interest started to wane. Now I can't actually remember the last Scotland match I attended, certainly it wasn't this century. I'll still watch them if they're on TV, I still want them to win and they still have the power to elate or depress me depending how the performance goes. My expectations are different from Rangers. I almost expect Scotland to disappoint me in a way I don't expect from Rangers. I'll caveat all of that though, Rangers can elate or depress me on a scale Scotland simply can't, or haven't so far. Reaching the Europa League final last season was an incredible feeling, maybe if Scotland reached the latter stages of a finals competition it would feel the same. I'm not sure I'll ever find that out. Losing to Celtic puts me on a downer that so far no Scotland result ever has. Where my enjoyment of international football is coming from isn't directly connected to watching Scotland. I feel international football is simply more meritocratic than club football. The powerful club sides in the bigger leagues are on such different level financially now that frankly the sport is now rigged. It's impossible for a club with Rangers support and history to compete with any English side in their top flight. That gap only looks like it'll continue to grow in the coming seasons. Chelsea spent over £350 million in January, and no one bats an eyelid. When we do produce a decent young player he's taken from us, often before he's even made the first team squad far less played 50 matches for us. We can see this happen all across Europe now, a two tier system is firmly in place. It wasn't always like that. In my formative years clubs like Rangers could expect to compete in Europe against the very best. Clubs like Brugge, Malmo, PSV, Benfica and Porto all made the European Cup Final. They all now struggle to even qualify for the Champion's League. Which is where international football comes in. Spain are clearly lacking in a top striker currently, as they demonstrated on Wednesday night. Now, if it was Barca or Real they'd simply go out and buy the best striker in Brazil or Germany or wherever. Spain can't do that, they need to work with the players they have. That's why we see countries like Portugal, Croatia, Morocco, Belgium, Uruguay and Wales reach semi finals in recent years. The bigger countries will always have an inbuilt advantage simply through having more players to choose from, but smaller nations can compete, they can sometimes do more than compete when they get a handful of very good players at one time. International football is simply fairer. I love that Argentina can have the best player in the world in their side, but they might need to also play a couple of total journeymen in the same team. I miss the Rangers matches during international breaks, but I enjoy watching football that's not as corrupt or imbalanced as club football now is.
