  1. Scottish defences are generally set up well and have tall and athletic centre backs. We're never going to score many goals from corners (out or in-swingers).

  2. Need to get Billy Davies in as set piece coach. He knows all about swingers.

  3. Rangers go joint top and we've got folk arguing about some Croat forgotten boy versus a Colombian lard-arse. Forget the past.

  4. an improved version for me. More direct in attack and even more pressure.

  5. Last night was really frustrating and it was strange to feel a wee bit deflated after a decent 3-1 win. I don't think all our finishing was that bad (their keeper was excellent in the 2nd half) but we conceded another cheap goal which knocked us off our first half stride then lost our way for a wee bit after the initial subs were made in the 2nd half. 10-1 wouldn't have flattered us but we could easily have conceded two goals ourselves later in the game. I'd like to think that at some point we'll actually score the goals our general play has merited but there's still an obvious lack of quality that is costing us at key moments; both in attack and defence. The manager will know this and there's not a huge amount we can do about it now but get behind the team and hopefully see them continue their improvement on the way to more trophies.

  6. And that’s equally true in both boxes

  7. I thought we put in plenty of decent balls but rarely do we win the header. Other than Souttar and sometimes Goldson we're not a team that compete too well in the air.

  8. We played some terrific football last night. You can sense they're playing as a team too - lots of shouting and encouragement that didn't seem to be there with the last two managers. I like how the two full backs are often seen attacking not just up the wings but also further in field. We're causing the opposition lots of problems with our dynamism.

  9. We need to mix them about a bit. Take short ones occasionally

  10. Yet another side note from last night... Last night was our 25th league game of the season and our 3-1 win versus Ross County put us on 61 points from 25 games. Almost a year ago we played Ross County in our 25th league game of the 22/23 season. We won the game 2-1 after County equalised against the run of play, with the win putting us on 61 pts. A year ago, Todd Cantwell was MOTM. He must be up for a decent shout last night? It's a funny old game, as someone once said...

  12. I remember reading an article several yers past on the meticulous methods of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, he had brought a specific throw-in coach to the club. The corners thing is something that rips my knitting. At Ibrox, we average a dozen corners; last night against Ross County we achieved twenty. Whether in is out swinging or in swinging, it makes no difference as we barely achieve the first touch. Ross County's central midfielder, Yan Danda took two corners last evening, both wickedly whipped balls, one grazed the bar, the other was the recipient of a Jack Butland one handed punched clearance. If we receive at least a dozen opportunities to put an unfettered ball into the opposition's box every game at the Stadium, maybe a specific coach could inspire much improved outcomes? I nominate Rosseau, do I have a witness?

  13. You can have that, you just need to move the ball, no one says you have to cross it from the corner. But then you get the howling 'get the fuckin baw in the box' brigade! 😆

  14. Yeah especially after going in front early. The RC goal was a real jolt. As you say we won - thats the bottom line and if we predominately do that between now and the end of the season we shall have at least one more🏆

  15. Statistically teams score something like 3% of all corners. It's just not a profitable method for scoring goals.

  16. we play very high up the park and are very aggressive in attacking the ball. It has huge advantages but we can see the disadvantages clearly in the odd goal we lose. The advantages clearly out weigh the disadvantages

  17. We just need to keep winning. I came out disappointed and deflated last night. which was utterly ridiculous considering how we played and chances created. Bring on St Johnstone

  18. Those three are as strong a MF three as we’ve had in a long time but it’s the wide areas up front which worry me. Wee McCausland has gone right off the boil & Matondo is very hit or miss. Cortes seems to have a lot of tricks in his locker but is there an end product? The much-maligned Scott Wright can at least go past defenders but can’t always be relied on.

  19. When at his peak. His last year was 1 goal in 5 chances, if not more. He will remain our European top goalscorer, but "let's keep the church in the village". Dessers gets really good assists and scores some fine goals now. Colak would have loved this environment too. Same as Roofe. Maybe we leave the "better than" debate on strikers, as it is all about opinions and preferences.

  20. Tbh wouldn't mind a crack at most of those teams. Marseille for obvious reasons, would also like another crack at Benfica. I geniunely think we could turn over that Milan side too and a win in the San Siro would be incredible. Should be a good nights football!

  21. You have point but corners force you possession to the corner flag with only one possible direction of travel whereas a more central starting point would offer the attacking team freedom of options. Anyway I’m just thinking out loud, it’s not a considered suggestion but corners are essentially a waste of time.

  22. I’d much rather be awarded free possession 30 or even 40 yards out in line with the penalty spot. Corners provide zero advantage.

  23. That header is something he wouldn't have been there to make just 2 months ago. He is improving all the time on and off the ball.

  24. I thought MacAusland was excellent throughout. Works really hard and made a goal-saving aerial challenge in the six yard box which could have been a title-winning moment.

  26. I voted for Cantwell - he seemed to be everywhere for large spells and I actually enjoyed watching him boot the ball at the Ross County player on the deck. Football needs a bit of devilment...keeps it from going stale.

  27. Swing 'in' swing 'out', swing over the neighbors dog. If corners were an investment vehicle they would have been abandoned long ago for lack of return. I like corners when I really have to piss cause I know nothing will happen when I'm gone.

  28. that table is just the league. It also doesn't count winning a penalty for some weird reason.

  29. Spot on, I love how Clement has us keen to get the ball forward quickly when the option is there, instead of prodding it around like a training exercise.

  30. There were also the off target ones and the ones that hit the woodwork that were inches from going on. This didnt feel like lots of the ball and a few half chances like we did under Gio and Beale.

  31. I find it quite worrying that we need 23 shots on target to score 3 goals.

  33. Agreed. Get them to Specsavers where they may bump into those that think Barisic is better than Ridvan 😉
