  1. That lot think they will win EVERY game Jon - overly optimistic !
  2. There is a part of me that thinks that the club do want to rid themselves of the sectarian element (and there IS an element) but that in doing so they go far too far at being P.C. on the subject. What they seem to fail to realise is that by "condemning" these supporters they provide a rod to the media to ensure we are cast as the worst of the 2 OF clubs. Contrast and compare - Celtic say nothing at all about their problems unless there is positive spin on it (maybe that is due to Reid being a politician). Look at their AGM - they say that the fans are self-policing, very small minority but that they get all these wonderful awards for having great fans. They say it is a very very small problem and then highlight the positive. On the other hand, we show the negative and ignore the positive - in the last 3 years there is NO DOUBT in my mind that WE have done a far superior job than them in eradicating the sectarian element from our repertoire - yet the powers that be are allowing lies and deflection to have us pinpointed as the bigots. Another instance of lack of spine at the top.

    Welcome Thread

Ha ha - Boaby ya prick !! Not Bobbyrfc obviously !!! Welcome to Gersnet mate !
  4. Gribz, I am pretty sure that BF;s injury is a different one to the one he carried last season - was sure I read that somewhere. BF hasnt played well for a while but he now has a quality player beside him in Mendes - I reckon we could see a very good partnership in there with those two. And with Davis on the right if we could get consistency on the left we have a very solid midfield - a far cry from the last couple of seasons when we had NO midfield.
  5. Six figure, three year deal..... Six figures = at least 100k. Divided by 3 yrs = 33,334 per year, rounding up to 35k.
  6. Or maybe 333k a year....... aye, right !!!
  7. Gribz would be right ya pair of muppets.....
  8. At least get the grammar correct...... it should be "there weren't any mistakes....." Aye, away and get yer coat - need a loan of mine ? :fish:
  9. "And I encourage anyone who has not read the song, however distasteful it is, to read it so they can see that we are not over-reacting." And I would encourage Dr Reid to actually listen to what is sung by RANGERS FANS AT GAMES. The full version has NEVER been sung by Rangers fans at games - so to request people read the full lyrics is beyond the pale. He is attempting to tar Rangers fans when they NEVER have sung the full version. You can't extrapolate these things - fans need to be punished, or not, based on what is ACTUALLY sung. I would also suggest that Dr Reid makes more of a concerted effort at getting his own house in order rather than focussing on Rangers. Rangers have done a far better job of curtailing the unsavoury element from our repertoire, regardless of what the gutter press suggest.
  10. Right, this groan thing doesn't work too well, I am not supposed to have any !! I am removing that last one Jon, would be unfair for people to see those groans and think you are a pain in the arse - they should just find out for themselves And yep, looking awesome - great job Frankie and Barry
  11. Frankie, they wouldn't accept responsibility.
  12. Stevie Smith is rumoured as being surplus to requirements ? That would be crazy given we have no NATURAL left back.
  13. Why did he sign Gascoigne twice then ?
  14. haha, had to try the "groan" - you were the obvious culprit Jon !
  15. Alan, I lost my father back in 1997 and I had to be back at work 3 days later (and I am sure many of us have similar instances). I think that losing one's close family is as tough, probably tougher, than losing a close friend. Yet that is all that us mere mortals get - why should footballers be afforded more ? And that is the thing - all of a sudden postponement and cancellation of games becomes the "norm" - what happened to simply having the traditional minutes silence ? If we continue on this route then Granted that two memebrs of the same family have been lost in quick succession but I would doubt that the playing staff or management would have the same interaction with Eddie Thomson's son-in-law. Difficult for the family ? Absolutely. What I question is how the son-in-law's passing would affect the club ?
  16. With all due respect to Eddie Thomson, his family and DUFC I personally believe we should NOT postpone the game. There are other ways of showing respect. Further, the farcical scheduling of last season's games at the latter end of the season played a not-insignificant part in us missing out on the title. I said then, and I say it now, Rangers should look after their own interests and if that means being the media-whipping boys (like we aren't already) then so be it.
  17. I can see a lot of chairmen (ours certainly) being happy with that scenario though !!
  18. Frankie & Barry, Let me know if I can contribute to the cash needed to upgrade. I would LIKE to help out financially - cant help any other way as I am no techy and am obviously too far away to do much.
  19. Sorry but this is nonsense Shroomz. You suggest that the arabs and their wealth is somehow not legitimate simply because they are selling the fuel ? It is simple supply and demand economics, in my opinion. They have the supply and western economies have the demand - we will pay the appropriate price for fuels given market economics. Now what amuses me here is that you kind of stumble upon one of the true reasons why pensioners are getting "screwed" and that is the government. Did you know that about 80% of the cost of petrol is pocketed by Gordie Brown and Westminster ? So how do you make that the arabs as being somehow shady ? Sorry but I think you will find that the arabs supply oil at what is deemed to be a fair price - if it wasnt a fair price then there would be no-one purchasing. You want to blame someone for the price of fuel and electricity perhaps look closer to home and to OUR government, not the arabs. Is the oil industry legit ? In a word, yes. Oil companies are heavily regulated by the governmental authorities (I work for an insurance company that insures the major oil companies). They actually do a lot of good in the community as well (at least in the US). Are they legit ? Yes. Provide me evidence to the contrary and I will stand corrected. Give me some kind of debate to work with as to why you believe they are not legitimate. Oh I love conspiracy theories but to simply stand and cry wolf without backing it up with your own examples of fact makes it a lesser argument. I will happily debate this with you. Just tell me why you believe they are not legitimate (and, sorry, but pensioners paying over the odds for electricity is NOT a legitimate argument for the arabs being shady) and we can debate it. Perhaps we should take this to the bluenose lounge though. BTW, not having a go at you Shroomz, I enjoy your posts - I just so happen to disagree with you on this one.
  20. Nice to see you admit that he has had successes in the past maineflyer. And as for the rest of your post..... it is hard to find fault with it. In fact, had you initially started your tenure on this forum with that type of somewhat balanced approach then I would have been lauding you I think that, for the most part, your post above would be concurred with by many fans, myself included. Don't expect him to answer questions about the demise post NIAR though - there actually arent that many Chairmen or CEO's who want to, or are willing to, answer the tough questions. Just look at the debacle with AIG this month - their most recent THREE CEO's were asked to appear before Congress - one of them didnt attend citing ill health but sent a prepared statement. Now, when Congress asked them why things went tits up every one of the three blamed the other two. It isnt just SDM who likes to deploy deflection tactics.
  21. Sorry but I have to disagree with the statement regarding Arab wealth. What proof do you have that arab wealth is less than legit ? Much arab wealth comes from oil and there has been plenty of that wealth to be passed around. The arabs, and the asians too to be fair, are churning out a huge amount of wealth and, for the most part, legitimately. How can you be so sure that SDM's wealth all comes legitimately too - because he is British ? The Russians are far more shady than the arabs.
  22. One potential issue to be considered is whether foreign investors would "get it". Whilst we know that SDM doesn't do his job to the full in defending the club and it's support against the detractors we have NO IDEA if new owners would understand it, let alone deal with it. The finances can be a great boost and I am certainly one that wishes to see SDM go, especially if he no longer wants to be here but it really does need to be someone that wants to progress the club and not just have a plaything.
  23. some people simply arent interested in the RST. Dont forget that it is less than a couple of months since the RST spectacularly imploded. This statement is "out there" from an RST perspective - in the past they have been far more conservative. Not sure I like the tone of this statement.
