  1. Former World Cup winner Vogts was Scotland manager from January 2002 to November 2004, handing international debuts to 40 players. wow, that is quite a stat!
  2. Just goes to prove the old saying about statistics. In football, statistics are a good talking point, but the eyes dont lie, and that guy is not a top level football player, not in a million "radars".
  3. Just as well Dorrans wasnt selected for after-match drug testing then! If Windass is as talented as Dorrans suggests, then he is the hide'n'seek champion of champions because he is hiding it brilliantly!
  4. The middle half hour was excellent, the first half hour was a tough game where we could have been 2 up or 2 down another day, the final half hour was controlled but fairly insipid, but I am happy to take that at 3-0 up given our home form to date this season. Great performance from McCrorie today, easily MOTM, with good games from Holt, Candieas, Morelos, and Tav. Good to see a training ground set piece lead to a goal. Shows what good coaching can do. It would be ironic in the extreme I'd Murty was still in charge and wins our next game against Hamilton, doing in 3 games what Pedro the Pretender couldn't do in 25, win 3 straight games. However I would still prefer it if we have got our new man in place by the time Accies come to Ibrox.
  5. Nobody around me in the Copland rear could make out what it was. A sea of white with black blobs in the middle. They should stick to singing.
  6. What simply has to change is our home form. P5 W1 D2 L2 F7 A7 GD0 PTS5 Is about as bad a start to a home campaign as I can ever remember. If you look at the league table for home games only we sit EIGHTH in the table! Our away form has been pretty good, so if we can rack up a few home wins by the midway point we should all be feeling a lot better! Let's start today by winning this Glasgow derby against the confused students.
  7. I have been keeping an eye recently on how long it takes to take a goal kick. At Hampden the Motherwell keeper took 58 seconds to take a goal kick, and our own Wes took 40 seconds to take one at Murrayfield. A free kick took over a minute on a few occasions over the last couple of games also. The amount of dead time during the 90 mins is disgraceful. A lot of the time it is due to an overly fussy referee. the time taken to settle everybody down after a foul, book a player, get his wee spray out, mark around the ball, pace out 10 yards, spray again, then run away to the other side of the pitch before blowing his whistle to restart play is utterly annoying and can take over two minutes. None of this time lost is ever added back on.
  8. Great preview, really enjoyed that thanks! As for the team, I would like to see Alves partnering McCrorie, Dorrans in for Jack (the Dorrans Holt partnership being the best one we have on evidence to date) and Nemane for Windass. Not sure Nemane is a footballer at all, never mind a good one or one who deserves a Mancheester City contract, but continually getting 5-30 mins in dead games is not going to let us (or himself or his parent club) see if he has sufficient talent to be worthy. We have seen more than enough of Windass to know he is not worth a regular starting slot, so why not try someone else? Cant see it happening as I think Murty will play the same again (with the exception of Alves for Wilson) given the positive result at the egg-chasers stadium last week. We simply must put Thistle to the sword tomorrow, and I hope this is Murty's last game in charge and he can sign off with a win as the 2 week break thereafter should be more than enough to get the new man in. I will be very disappointed if we have not got our man in by the Hamilton game, but not half as disappointed as I will be by anything less than a victory tomorrow.
  9. If Craig Thomson (other examples are readily available!) is the Video referee we will still be victimised. The VR is still, for a lot of decisions, making a judgement call. Was a particular tackle reckless and deserving of a red card? The answer, even after umpteen viewings is still that it is not a red card for Scott Brown but it is for Ryan Jack. Scott Brown's weekly off the ball elbow will still be ignored. Louis Moult still gets away with breaking Cardoso's nose. However there is more chance of getting obvious errors right at a time when it can still influence the game if a VR is in play, which I support. Offside goals etc are a matter of fact.not judgement. I would take that small comfort at least, as well as Tony getting his well-earned P45.
  10. Surely in incidents like this, if the red card is overturned the referee (or in this case more likely the 4th official) has to be suspended for his utter incompetence. We had a situation where the 4th official has got involved from 50 yards away to "correct" the referee who had issued a yellow card, and it turns out the 4th official was wrong. I dont know whot he 4th official was that night, but there simply has to be an internal investigation as to why he thought he should get involved in that incident when the 4th official only usually gets involved if managers step out of line, or the incident is right in front of them. Personally, I cannot believe Jack "got away with it" as IMO he eventually got what he deserved for his intention to hit Broadfoot (both with knee and hands/head) instead of moving away and let us hit the penalty. I dont see how the CO can overturn that decision. Given that this decision has now been made however, we should be raising this second rescinded red card in 10 games with the authorities, along with the numerous non-red cards that should have been shown against our opponents, and demanding an explanation as to why we are on the receiving end of all the wrong decisions in our matches this season? And make it public knowledge.
  11. A truly staggering claim even by todays Daily Rhebel tim-fest standards. I doubt even the most diehard tims would believe that his treble was better than MON's, never mind our two feats mentioned.
  12. I would give him the rest of the season to learn his trade, gain from the experiences both positive and negative, and be ready to lead our back line, and perhaps even the side, in a couple of years. Normally I would say protect him and give him a few games then take him out for a spell and back in again, but he looks so assured he looks ready to be a long term first team player already. Get him on a long term contract with first team wages just in case he is tempted to move. There is no doubt this boy can play, and he is already a far better player than Cardoso in my book.
  13. Pena has done more in his limited game time than Windass has as an ever present. More goals, more assists. I know which one I'd be happier punting in January, although the likelihood of a large fee either way is somewhat uncertain!
  14. Thanks guys, although I won't take back what I shouted to Thomson at the time!
  15. Nice one Frankie, not a lot to argue with on the ratings either. I wouldnt have given as many marks to two or three players, but I certainly agree with Holt as the MOTM who I thought stood out head and shoulders above everyone else on Saturday, it was the easiest pick all season. I'd be worried if anyone didnt think Holt was MOTM! In your McCrorie bit, you say a rash challenge for the foul that led to their goal. Now I have only seen it live from my seat but it looked a great tackle to me and another Thomson error. Did TV footage show otherwise? Candieas & Windass are fortunate to score so highly as I thought both were fairly poor, but I partly put that down to the windy conditions where balls were launched at them rather than passed and it was difficult for them to get one on one or even to find space to move into. Agree with Morelos, another really impressive performance despite not scoring, but he really needs a goal or two this weekend to get him back to full confidence.
  16. Very interesting reading the various different views on our next manager on this thread. Better debate and insight than any red-top or online column that's for sure. Personally, I really dont have a clue who should be our next manager. I would want to see who applies, go through the list of names and their CV's, and compile a list of possible candidates to interview and see what their vision is, what their expectations are re salary and budget, and see if we can find a good fit somewhere. Given Killie got a Steve Clarke (I would have called for the nurse if anyone told me that Killie could get someone of those credentials with their budget) then who knows what quality of candidate would throw their hat into the ring for our job. I am hoping to be positively surprised. Incidentally, had we taken this route back in Feb/Mar, Pedro would never have become our manager. As I said at the time and have consistently restated, Pedro's CV would never have got on a long list for our job, never mind a short list, never mind an interview or appointed. That was pure cronyism and I really hope that error of our ways is obvious to our board and a repeat performance will never occur. I dont mind having Murty for our home game on Saturday, but by the time we come back from the next international break, we should have the new guy in place. Whoever he is. Incidentally, isn't it sad (but totally predictable) that the hacks writing about this in the papers always mention cash-strapped, skint, etc, but never that we sell out every match, have a huge and loyal fanbase, another potential windfall from a potential share issue, and our board gave Pedro £10M last summer and haven't ruled out doing it again.
  17. Good luck to Murty and whatever side he picks tomorrow. As an interim, he is (again) on a hiding to nothing, and can only try to make us solid, hard to beat, and try to sneak a couple of wins before the board get their man in. I hope the board manage to get the job done in under 6 weeks this time and appoint a manager who has a CV worthy of our club. Another left field gamble that fails will see the anger turn on them.
  18. Get the word out that we are looking for applicants and see who applies, I think we may be surprised at the quality who would be interested. Who would have thought Killie could get Clarke?
  19. Clearly, he is not going to be sacked, so I accept that is just venting on my part. I completely disagree with your assessment that he played fine for an hour, or that he has been one of our better players this season. An anonymous waste of a shirt who you only see when he does something stupid. Taking a 5 yard pass from Alves and giving it to Cardoso is not what that role is supposed to do, yet that about sums up his passing credentials. I thought we were getting a good solid pro to strengthen the midfield, he has completely underachieved IMO. Anyway, there are now bigger fish to fry with this afternoons news, so it is probably best to park this, hope he learns from his mistakes THIS time, and we see the player he supposedly can be under new management.
  20. I accept the first and last sentences are controversial and wont happen, but I dont think there can be any argument with the points I make about his play and performances to date. If there is, lets hear it.
  21. To my mind we have had one good result during Pedro's tenure, the 3-0 win at Dolly (which was in the balance for an hour before we hit them ruthlessly on the counter), and the list of really poor defeats, both in scoreline and performance, is 3 capitulations to the tims (none even at the piggery), Motherwell, and the "sackable all on its own" Progres debacle. There are also a number of games we have not won that we should have, or at least should have fought harder to do so, like Hibs, Hearts & Killie all at home, The most galling stat of all is that we have won only 1 of our 5 HOME league games this season. I dont know of any Rangers manager who could spend £10M on a new team, have that run of results, throw in a Euro humiliation and a Semi Final defeat to Motherwell and expect anything other than his P45. In fact, he should be walking, not waiting for the pay-off.
  22. No, not Pedro (although that obviously should happen as well), but Ryan Jack should be sacked on the spot, his contract terminated with no pay off. His performance last night was bad enough, he not once was where his position dictates he should be in mopping up loose balls, preventing play through our middle, tackling and winning the ball in our half, but to stupidly get involved, again, in agro with other players shows he is not learning or listening after this has now happened twice already in the short time he has been with us. When Broadfoot goes to wind him up the first time as Candieas is trying to settle himself to take the penalty, he has to just leave the area and let us win the game. Instead he goes and looks for trouble, trying to be a hard man, and instead of moving away from Broadfoot, he is more than happy to go towards him. Broadfoot sneakily stands on his foot, but his reaction to first bring his knee up towards him, and then move his head forward while pushing the opponent to the ground is beyond stupid, it's sackable. It's not his first offence either, and he is a loose cannon we cannot rely upon. This was the captain of the runners-up we got in and we were led to believe we were getting a leader, a good defensive midfielder, a mature player. He is a wee ned with no composure and has no place at our club. He might have been the same player at Dolly, I dont know as I never noticed him play in our games v them, but he certainly isn't a Rangers player. Wee Holt has totally outplayed him in a couple of games, with a goal and an assist as well as covering all the boring stuff Jack does. He reminds me of Ian Black, a hider who thinks he is hard but buckles at the slightest pressure. I hope he never plays again for us.
  23. Social media is not real life! It is keyboard warriors and arseholes, especially in the septic world of timmy. I am talking about the club and getting back some influence and credibility in the boardrooms of the other SPFL clubs. Some will not ever be friends, which is fine, but many others will understand that one club is running everything for their exclusive benefit, and that is not good for the long term health of our game.
  24. Tell me how boycotting Tynecastle, or Kilmarnock, or the piggery, gets referees to treat us fairly, or gets us a fair compliance officer? It is not the other member clubs (bar one who runs the show) who are making referees cheat, so why take it out on them. We are supposed to be building bridges with the likes of Hearts, Killie, Ross County, Motherwell who can help prevent the tims running roughshod over our game, ruining it like they have done without our presence at the top level for the last decade or so. We cannot get any changes or fairness at the top while it is in the firm grip of our direct enemy. However it is a democratic organisation and as such, if we gain enough support among our fellow clubs, we can demand equality knowing we have the votes to get things done. This is how the tims got to power, while we went to sleep and treated our fellow clubs with contempt.
  25. I hope we appeal and come out fighting showing all the other red card offences that were not acted on at the time by other clubs and ask why the compliance officer is only interested in Rangers players, while totally ignoring every other game, and just come right out and call him and the system corrupt to the core. We have guys in our employment that study footage of all the games, get them earning their money properly and defend our club.
