Now they are bringing out the big guns. They must learn how to deny and deflect at school. This guy would make you puke ... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9013617/ Champions League: Celtic say they will investigate after arrests were made in Holland Last Updated: November 7, 2013 6:37pm 0 Celtic launch investigation after arrests made in Amsterdam Celtic say they will investigate after arrests were made ahead of their Champions League group defeat to Ajax. Violent disturbances in Amsterdam led to numerous arrests being made by Dutch police and the Scottish champions released a statement to say they had already begun probing into the events in Holland. "Celtic Football Club is currently investigating events in Amsterdam last night (Wednesday). "We have been informed that there are five individuals detained in Holland. We are not clear if they have any formal association with the Club, however, we will be liaising with the local authorities in Amsterdam, our own police and the British Consulate in order to fully understand events. We would stress that there is no excuse for any form of violent conduct. "In addition, we have received numerous complaints from Celtic supporters in relation to their treatment in Amsterdam, which we will also investigate fully. "There is no question that Celtic supporters have been subjected to a high degree of provocation. Last week, our supporters were the target of missiles being thrown from Ajax supporters at Celtic Park, a night where 300 seats were damaged within the stadium. "This was followed up by an organised attack on a group of Celtic supporters in Amsterdam on Tuesday, the night before the match. We have also received numerous individual reports of other attacks on our fans. "The Celtic travelling support has a magnificent reputation across Europe and our fans have visited major European cities over many years without incident. Once again the overwhelming majority of our supporters behaved impeccably." Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert, who spent eight years with Celtic during his playing career, said he was surprised by news of the arrests in Amsterdam. He said: "I played for many years at Celtic and I never encountered any bother. "I played in the UEFA Cup final and we took over maybe 80-90,000 to Seville and there was not one arrest while we were there. "Knowing the club and the fans the way I do, I find it incredible (what has happened). I'm not sure they would have started anything. "I know there was trouble in the first game at Parkhead and it might have spilled over from that. "But if you look at Celtic over the past 30 years there has not been one bit of bother. "So I would disagree with anybody thinking the Celtic fans would go out looking for trouble when they never do it."

Fair do's.

I take your point Andy, but I must say in all the Youtube clips I have seen I have not spotted one Scottish saltire or a Lion Rampant. The only identification that I can see is the Irish tricolour and songs such as "Sean South". I doubt Ireland would want to lay claim to this bunch of numpties either.

http://www.sportinglife.com/football//news/article/26854/9012286/violence-mars-hoops-clash Violence mars Hoops clash Last Updated: November 6 2013, 23:34 GMT Celtic's Champions League trip to Ajax has been marred by a clash between supporters and police in the centre of Amsterdam before kick-off, following which 15 fans have been arrested. Amsterdam Police told Press Association Sport that fans armed with bottles and sticks attacked plain-clothed police in an incident described as "coming out of nowhere". Eight police officers were injured with one knocked unconscious following the fighting in Dam Square, in the city centre. Police said the majority of those arrested were Celtic fans, although it is believed that supporters from other clubs were also involved. "At the end of the afternoon a large group of Celtic supporters attacked police officers in plain clothes," a spokesman told Press Association Sport. "Eight were injured and one was knocked unconscious. "A few of them had broken noses and needed stitches above their eyebrows and on their lips. "Bottles and sticks were used in the attack which came out of nowhere. "There were 15 arrests, mostly Celtic supporters." Celtic lost the match 1-0 and face an uphill battle to reach the knockout stages of the competition. Amsterdam Police said it expected the number of 15 arrests to rise during the night and that a final figures would be "high". It is thought that fans from other European clubs were involved, although police said they "had kept themselves covered". Celtic supporters had been urged by the club to be careful after an attack on Hoops supporters in a city-centre bar on Tuesday night. Thousands of Celtic supporters flooded into Holland for the Group H game at the Amsterdam ArenA. A statement on the Celtic website said: "Celtic Football Club is urging all supporters in Amsterdam for tonight's UEFA Champions League tie with Ajax to be extra vigilant following an unprovoked attack on Celtic fans last night "The attack in the city centre by an element of the Ajax support resulted in a number of arrests. "Celtic are urging all supporters to be extra vigilant in the city centre and at the Amsterdam ArenA, and to only stick to the advised areas for safety reasons." At the pre-match media conference on Tuesday afternoon, Ajax coach Frank De Boer expressed hope that the tiny percentage of fans he describes as "crazy" would not disrupt the game. UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against the Dutch club after some of their supporters clashed with police and stewards at Parkhead last month during a match which the home side won 2-1. The case will be dealt with by UEFA's control and disciplinary panel on November 21. De Boer admitted that some Ajax fans remain a concern when asked if he was confident of the game passing off trouble-free. "I am confident in that but you never know," said the former Rangers player. "There is always some crazy people (who) try to disturb something but hopefully it will not happen."

Lovely touch to create space behind the defender. CFC looked very ordinary and it could have been a heavier defeat. I love watching these ABC( ANYBODY BUT CELTIC ) games when the scum lose.
-
Ally's learning how to play by "Sporting Integrity" rules. He's laying the marker for when he gets back to playing with Pete and the bhoys. If there comes a chance where he can stick it to them you can be sure he'll use these games as a precedent. As has been said, I would be very surprised if Ally could not field a team at this level with the remainder of the squad and still be confident of a result.

Last weekend at Parkhead they equalized deep into injury time against Dun. Utd. I'm not saying Hearts will beat them, but they can be a really ordinary team if you pressure them.

@Kilmarnock. They didn't vote against us, and they could sure use the cash. -
If there are any deals made, what's the betting that CFC come out of it better off than the SPFL? Liewell has wanted to crack that market for a long time.

You had advocated on another thread that Rangers should re-engage with the BBC to solve the existing problems between them. Since Traynor was the one who banned the BBC reporter, maybe today's action will facilitate such an engagement.

It's all about perception. The premier club in Scotland owning the premier stadium in Scotland shall be the venue for premier events only. The opening of the Commonwealth Games, how they will play GSOQ there will be something to see, the hosting of the Scottish Cup Final by invitation only since you will be playing the premier team in Scotland. All lesser teams shall play their games at inferior stadia as befits their status. As a loyalty bonus for our favoured lapdog, Rod Petrie, the Ramsden Cup Final shall be played at Easter Rd. Any and all enquiries will be dealt with in the usual manner. Caesar Pete. Get used to it munchkins, he told us that while he is on the SFA board his primary interest and focus will be for the benefit and promotion of CFC.

Ramsdens Cup Final to be held at Easter Road
barca72 replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
Remember the last time we won the league there? Fans on the pitch, referee assaulted. Scotland's shame. How good would it feel for a lower league team to go there and stuff it to them? Bring it on. -
When you make your conclusion "that Pinsent Mason were not fully satisfied" it is still an opinion. When they say "inherent limitations of a private inquiry" they are entirely correct. They conducted a private enquiry and as such they cannot compel anyone to give testimony. They may, however, feel that the available evidence that they were able to accrue was sufficient to base their eventual opinion on. This opinion was accepted by The Rangers' board and the SFA and it would appear that whatever our opinions are, as fans, they are secondary to that acceptance. As far as the majority shareholders go, I feel your frustation. However, if they do not wish to be known that is their prerogative. I don't have very much regard for the SFA myself but they remain a very dangerous organization as far as Rangers are concerned and we must, for the time being, not allow the puppetmaster to cut any of our strings.

That last paragraph has some merit. However, D'Art is right it's all about opinion. It seems to me that you are not really giving us evidence, but rather an opinion that the Pinsent Mason report is somehow incomplete. How many reports, investigations, tribunals etc. will it take to be conclusive? Just what kind of statement will satisfy you, and from whom? The SFA seemed to be satisfied with the Pinsent Mason report, that in and of itself says something. Even if it only tells us that they are too skint to initiate their own probe.

Here's McMurdo's latest, http://billmcmurdo.wordpress.com/2013/10/29/king-not-cleared-yet/ October 29, 2013 King Not Cleared Yet It has come to my attention that press stories today which say that Dave King has been cleared by the London Stock Exchange are wide of the mark. First of all, the LSE don’t do “all-clears” and the vetting of individuals in cases like this is left to company’s appointed NOMAD. It is my understanding that the LSE press office is briefing journalists that today’s story in the Daily Record is untrue and they have asked the paper to change the online version of the story. This will heap further embarrassment on the Record which has been widely criticised for its recent publication of a photograph of Rangers Financial Director Brian Stockbridge’s house. The news Dave King has not yet been approved to take up a directorship at Rangers will be a blow to Gers fans who saw his joining the Easdales and Brian Stockbridge on the board as a massive step forward for the club. Rangers PR people have also pointed out the King story is untrue and unfairly misleading to fans. You have to wonder why the Record would carry such a misleading story. I am told the paper’s editor is raging over the fact that Brian Stockbridge has lodged a complaint with the PCC over publication of pictures of his home, especially after recent threats he had received – threats that the Record actually mentioned in the article! It appears that the Daily Record is intent on alienating bluenoses more and more, especially with its championing of those who are seeking to disrupt the club at this point in time.

No I suppose not. The point was to say that the only philosophy that means anything is to win games. Our support doesn't have the patience to allow the youth system to be put in place and then rely on it to feed us superstars or even top quality football players. I kinda lose patience with the group that says we missed an opportunity here. Where was the opportunity? Any money we had from the IPO, which possibly could have gone to youth programs, was re-directed to pay off the spivs and the rest was used to get us enough players to win us the next two divisions. The next injection will need to buy us players for Europe, so please, where is the missed opportunity? Only winning is good enough.

Remember the kind of football we played under the last guy that had a philosophy - LeGuen?

RST - Jim McColl and Paul Murray to meet three fan groups
barca72 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
In the absence of an overall body representing all Rangers' supporters I think it is a positive step that these three bodies engage in a discourse with JM & PM. I would strongly suspect that these three bodies do not think that they represent the full Rangers' support. However, if they meet and report publicly for the rest of the Rangers' support to see what took place, then I think we should be grateful for their representation. -
Observation: Anyone convicted of wrong-doing owes a debt to society. When the person convicted of wrong-doing has settled the conditions attached to that conviction with the relevant authorities, then his/her debt with society is said to be paid in full. Question: How many times must the person who was convicted of wrong-doing have to pay in kind or otherwise for that debt to society? Embarassment will not pay the bills.

I'm certainly not going to address each of those. Deflection again. In what way is that statement denigrating the armed services? The work of a cancer nurse, something that the vast majority of us will have some experience of unfortunately, is far, far more valuable to society than that of a squaddie. Not all jobs are of equal value - which is presumably why you chose the ludicrous example of "secretaries day". To say that a person is less valued in society and is less deserving of recognition in society, is puzzling to you as to why it is denigrating to that person? Really? To compare and base a person's worth to society based on the job they do is a bit ridiculous, but I'll let you argue with yourself on that one. As ludicrous as it may seem, there are many businesses that exist day to day based on the work of the "secretary". Why not have a particular day set aside ever season where we celebrate one particular branch of public sector workers - not just soldiers. We could have nurses one year, carers who work in old people's homes the next year, firemen the year after that. All of these jobs are far more valuable to society than that of a soldier and far more deserving of recognition." This was your suggestion from your initial post. You tell me exactly what form your celebration would take. Assuming of course that you have determined that each of the professions named would welcome your particular form of celebration day. Originally Posted by barca72 If you are prepared to answer directly why you feel the troops, in your opinion, are not worthy of such acclimation then please lay it out. If you are not, don't bother answering. Thank you. And so we come full circle and you've had your fingers in your ears all the way round. I have told you that imho there are other professions far more worthy of celebrating than soldiers, professions which are of greater value and contribute far more to society. You, otoh, have not made any case as to why the armed forces are deserving of their own day other than to claim that somehow they allow all the other professions to go about their business. Yet, when pressed for any evidence of this, you could give none. The only reason, as far as i can see, that we celebrate our own special little AFD is to wind up Timothy. And that really is denigrating and demeaning to the armed forces. You have stated that in your opinion there are other professions far more worthy of celebrating and of greater value to society than the humble soldier. You have not explained why you think this is. You seem oblivious to the fact that other people would not and do not agree with you. I have told you that I believe we have the societies we have because a strong and well equipped, and well trained military afford us the freedom to shape our societies to our own taste. This includes giving you the right to hold opinions which appear to be contrary to the majority. You accuse me of not providing evidence to back this up. As previously stated, ask the people of Ulster if the military did a worthwhile job in protecting them against the IRA. Ask the people of the Falklands if they are glad Thatcher sent in the military. There are many other instances where the military has stood strong. You are good on Google, look them up. As good a job as the nurses, firemen and other professions do, I doubt it would do us any good to ask them to man the front lines in a time of conflict. Before you spout any Utopian pish about there not being a need for wars, tell that to the other guys. You know the ones who fly airplanes into buildings, who blow up train stations in London, the ones who drive trucks into airport terminals in Glasgow. I'm pretty sure that I have made a case for the need for the military. No beatification necessary, just the basics. As far as our AFD is concerned, the forces were invited to Ibrox and they accepted, willingly. Do you think that the Armed Forces Command would allow that to happen if they thought the forces were being denigrated or demeaned? I would suggest that only someone with your mindset would classify AFD as a windup for Timothy rather than a chance for a large gathering of the populace to willingly show their appreciation to the humble squaddies. Timothy can have his own AFD if he so desires, more power to him. However, if you still feel offended by this celebration at half-time at Ibrox, may I suggest that you retire to the pie and bovril stand for the duration.
