  1. Its not that at all we didn't lose today because of one freakish refereeing decision. Don't forget the guy still had to score from the free kick too. We lost because we didn't score more goals than the other guys. Last year I found it very difficult to agree with Tru and a few of the other more negative posters because I was prepared to allow at least a seasons leeway for a new system and style of play to bed in plus the fact we were in a lower league. This season I find it difficult to argue against them. I would actually add to his statement and also say we look powder puff in any challenge too.
  2. No offense meant Ian. I'm not having a debate I'm stating facts. This result wont say Rangers looked impressive on the ball the records will say today Aberdeen secured 3 points in the league by beating Rangers by 2 goals to 1. Now the if I was to open a debate I would argue that if we don't sort this out we'll be looking at a relegation battle.
  3. We know the place is a restaurant with a bar attached and that's about it. I'd assume for talk sake that since Kenny was collecting his wife from her day out with friends that he didn't get a taxi there and therefore was driving meaning he must have been sober otherwise he'd have been charged with drunk driving too.
  4. I'm seriously struggling to get my head round this development. What the hell is going on here? The inclusion and naming of minors in the report is utterly despicable in fact its reprehensible as they were neither there nor were they involved.
  5. There wasn't any mention of him in the presser earlier so he may well be.
  6. That team looks alright however I don't know if Hodson can play LB. Personally I'd give Tav a rest too and put Hodson on at RB. So my team would look something like; Gilks Hodson------------ Senderos ----- Hill-------------- Halliday Holt------- Crooks------- Forrester (O'Halloran, Dodoo)-------- Garner --------- Windass I don't think Warburton will start Crooks I think he'll start Halliday as DFM and give Crooks 20-30 in the second half. Wallace will play as will Waghorn to get him back to being match sharp. He might start Garner and replace him with Dodoo same time as Crooks comes on. Although I don't see Dodoo is any kind of centre Warburton does. Of course depending on whether he plays Windass like Stanely did as an OL or as an IL where Forrester plays that could be an interesting partnership to see with Crooks.
  7. Dont get me started on that carry on! There's not much annoys me about peoples choice of clothing. However and it doesn't matter which team it is. People wearing replica football shirts as a fashion accessory really grinds my gears and these clowns are the worst for it. In fact just last night there was a fat balding 40 something guy struggled to get out his car while delivering takeaway in my street wearing one. I couldn't resist saying while I passed him... Mate I don't care how much training your doing I don't think Rogers will be giving you the nod for Saturday! It looks absolutely ridiculous on these types.
  8. Wilson started off with his usual long diagonal passes going astray but after about 10 mins cut that out and settled in to a competent game. Clint Hill played well and had a couple of headers from corners cleared off the line. Other than a couple of other chances we didn't look much like scoring to be honest.
  9. The way this is being reported across the Scottish MSM could put a players livelihood in jeopardy. No wonder he went to Talksport to discuss the situation. Its one of the few places he could set the record straight without the interference of the Scottish Mhedia and get a fair hearing. So far among the various Scottish Mhedia twitter profiles... I've read Jim Spence latest twitter brain fart re: mother Thearesa (showing precisely why he wont speak to them), one of many clowns at the Record saying Joey picked a fight with Scott Brown re: not in my league, and has lost that fight already completely ignoring that there are still at least 3 games in that head to head series to go (its only round one) never mind that its over a season, and other sources calling for MW to stamp his authority on a situation that requires nothing other than the action that has already been meted out i.e. I'm the manager, this is the way it is, go home take a few days to reflect and we'll see you first thing Monday morning. I'm with you on this one Rousseau ... Joey has not set the heather alight for one reason or another be it fitness, lack of knowledge of Scottish games pace etc etc etc, but I cant criticise the effort he's put in so far. More than a few commentators don't seem to understand MW style of play or what's mean to be happening around that position on the park. No point in rehashing what I've already said in a post I made in another thread about who I would make it into my team selection and who wouldn't. But if Joey has had words with certain members of the squad then good he should. Theres been many many times where much worse has happened and its all common knowledge to us. One famous one is DW having lafferty by the throat in an away game against the sheep when we were just trundling along which got a response via performances. By all accounts Joey only spoke his mind there was no violent conduct included. As far as I'm concerned, good, some of our players needed told what the score is. Warburton didn't like the robust way in which it was done then fine he's entitled to draw a close to it by exercising his authority he sent the guy home and suspended him from training for a few days... Other than sack the guy for a simple disagreement what else does MW need to do? Its a nonsense and as far as I'm concerned that's the end of it.
  10. Its a wee bit different from the normal pressers he does.
  11. They'll get round to it sometime Frankie oh I'm sure. What makes you think that it wont happen again? The Green Brigade basically do what they please and don't forget they have a reputation to maintain.
  12. In this current climate of anti-rangers our MSM and commentators may gloss over these uncomfortable realities however out with our shores it hasn't gone unnoticed DB. Just this morning the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo published an article about one of the many distasteful displays during Saturdays match, in both the online and print version. Its a noteworthy article as the Spanish press generally have a fondness for that club and their fans. However they found the hanging dolls in particular distasteful saying there are no words to explain this particular action regardless of what Lawell or the fans say. The articles headline points to the general thrust of the piece and goes on to say that the fans and club have lost their mystique and charm. Basically the article is calling it a shameful embarrassment. I've linked the original article and a roughly translated page. http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/champions-league/20160913/41267853470/la-ultima-verguenza-del-celtic-de-glasgow.html https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/champions-league/20160913/41267853470/la-ultima-verguenza-del-celtic-de-glasgow.html&prev=search
  13. Thats not the way I read it Ian. It says that the home club has to provide a reasonable amount of tickets for the away support and this has to be agreed in advance. Failing agreement on the number of allocations it is to be determined by the the Board which is final and binding and since it is part of the same sentence in the clause I read it that this is what has to be determined within that 14 day period. It also goes on to state in further clause I30 that any tickets accepted by RIFC for away games have to be returned no earlier (seems poorly worded to mean no later) than 48hrs from match day. However in my opinion Rangers would have the right to refuse any person/s entry to the stadium. Of course this would also be subject to ticket refund even if it this decision were made on a public disorder/health and safety issue.
  14. I can think of at least three or four players who for want of a better word need rested. Some seem to think that our front line is the issue its not. The issue lays squarely in the centre of the park and W&W better sort it out pronto else we're in for a heck of a season yet again. Not necessarily based on Saturdays poor result but based on what I've seen this season so far. Here's my 4-3-3 team set up. Foderingham Tavernier (Hodson)------------ Senderos ----- Hill-------------- Halliday (Wallace) Holt------- Rossiter (Crooks)------- Forrester Waghorn (O'Halloran, Dodoo)-------- Garner (Miller)--------- Windass (McKay) I'll start with Foderingham although to be fair I'm leaning towards Gilks. Foderingham for me stands on his line too often leaving too much space in behind the CH's. As we know most games we'll have the ball for 60-70% possession and from what little I've seen of him Gilks for me plays this sweeper keeper role much better with his positional sense. Wallace defensive game seems to have deserted him recently and as far as I'm concerned he needs a rest albeit a controversial decision since he is the club captain who stood by us and rightly deserves the utmost respect however respect doesn't win games so sorry about that. I've covered his position with Halliday who would play anywhere just to wear the gersy. Unfortunately in the centre of the park he needs too many touches to bring the ball under control and he struggles with anything breaking to the right of the centre circle unless he's running on to it. Last year he got away with it as many of the teams we were up against were semi pro's lacking the pro fitness, speed and control so in this league where time and control is of the essence I want to play him but I find it difficult to put him in any other position other than as cover for Wallace. Tav is a much better defensive performer when he has someone inside him that knows what they are doing Hodson, looks a decent buy if I'm honest, is a natural replacement if Tav should need to be rested or injured, suspended. There is no place in the team or on the bench for Kiernan or Wilson who are consistently caught under the ball or simply ball watching both players distribution is poor however Wilson edges it with the ability to recover in a last ditch tackle where as Kiernan is pretty much static. Neither men can jump to head clear cross balls and their timing at crosses is particularly poor. Folk have given Hill a hard time for losing Boyd during the Kilmarnock game when he scored but IMO it was Kiernan as usual stuck in no man's land not tracking his man that was the root issue leaving Hill looking way off the pace and scrambling. Kiernan was also at fault just ten minutes earlier when the same man Boyd inside the box pulled his shot wide of Foderinghams left hand post in fact most of the goals we have lost have come from the area of the pitch that Kiernan or Wilson were supposed to be covering no matter who they've been partnered with. Hill does lack pace and it showed against Burnley in the friendly but I do think he can do a job for us in the premier league if he is paired with Senderos. Young Rossiter has for me looked every inch a player who can go on to great things if only they would play him without the nanny Barton sitting on his shoulder. Neither Barton or Kranjcar make my team either. In the case of Barton he's not performed particularly badly its just that he's not anywhere near the pace of the premier league just yet. He may eventually get up to speed but right now he's slowing the game down and reducing our quick pass and move attacking style to one or two breaks per game resulting in particularly poor service to the front line. We need the ball to move from our own third up through the phases much quicker and when both these players are in the team looking for that defence splitting pass from the halfway line since neither have the shunts to carry the ball themselves then it is nothing like they way W&W want us to play in short quick pass and move triangles round and about opposition midfield into the final third. Jason Holts dynamism has been sorely missed this season so far only seen in short spells from either Windass, Forrester or young Rossiter and the sooner we can get him back in the team the better as far as I'm concerned. Windass from what I have seen looks like he could potentially be one of our better players and might I add no great transfer fee paid for him at £60,000. He's a unit with skill and pace to burn and would fit in seamlessly across a number of positions through out the six mid-forward line. This lad has the ability to hurt any team provided he gets the service. I've played him on the left of the front three McKays position where he was effective for Stanley. McKay is a smashing player when he can be bothered but so far this season he looks like he cant be bothered to take responsibility leaving it to other players. The jury is still out for me on Dodoo. From what I've seen of him he could do a job on either wing but he is by no stretch of the imagination a centre in fact he's no where near a centre so for me he would have to fight for a place with Waghorn and O'Halloran who is another who fans call for to get a game. Personally I'm not impressed with him I see him as one dimensional. He can fair shift through the gears but what he has in pace he lacks in control. He looks fine when he is running onto a ball or when he is running in a straight line with the ball but that's pretty much it for me. I don't need to say much about Waghorn we all know how effective he can be coming in from the right and his link up work with Tav is exceptional at times. Miller like him or loathe him always finds space but 70-80% of the time hasn't received the ball this season. His finishing leaves a lot to be desired but if he's not there to take the chances he does get then no one else is. His quality for me is that he'll track back to cover as far as LB or RB, he never hides win lose or draw. He's on my subs bench here so 60-70 minute mark is when I'd use him. Garner I haven't seen enough of yet but what I can say is if a centre has no service there's not much he can do about it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now, based on his movement and endeavour, I feel he'll be there or there about to knock the ball home when we get our transition through the phases gelling right. Finally the 4-3-3 can change to a 4-1-4-1 formation when either not in possession or against tougher teams not parking the bus Foderingham Tavernier (Hodson)------ Senderos ---- Hill------- Halliday (Wallace) Rossiter (Crooks) Waghorn (O'Halloran, Dodoo)------ Holt----- Forrester--------- Windass (McKay) Garner (Miller)
  15. This stuff gets on my thrupnies. The main thrust of this article again is that Rangers are unable to challenge the current league leaders because it indulged in wild spending leading to inevitable collapse. None of the statements reflecting this position are attributed through quotes to Willie Henderson. Anything he said is written in quotes. Therefore the rest is at best supposition and conjecture by the writer. I'll say it again... it wasn't wild spending that crippled the club it was Craig Whyte refusing to pay PAYE and VAT in 2011 that crippled the club (possibly fraudulent behaviour was at play and as such prosecution and court proceedings are still live on this matter). Granted the EBT dispute the club and its administrators has with HMRC didn't help in relation to selling the club on when Murrays empire collapsed and he had to offload it to the charlatan mentioned above. Incidentally this too is still a live issue with 2 out of 3 court sessions ruling in Rangers favour. As said it is still live and will be heard by the Supreme Court sometime in Spring 2017. If the UCL nets the current SPFL champions £20-30 mil that suggests every club in the SPFL is trailing them by 20-30 mil yet somehow the sole responsibility for this disparity lies with Rangers? Get it tae ***k! EDIT: Forgot to say... The sub text is that Dave King is a shyster and a liar hence the strap line. All cobbled together from a group of random quotes from Willie that appear to be answers to a set of leading questions.
  16. As I said they stack/overload the midfield and stifle teams creativity breaking quickly from any play that breaks down. Its a tactic if you can get a away with it and of course they will in the Scottish league. I don't want to say teams don't try against them because I think they do but they seem intimidated by this overloading tactic that they use. They'll win most of their games in our league with it but when it comes to the CL it'll be exposed for exactly what it is, lacking constructive control of the ball feeding off scraps or missed passes from the opposition. They can be dangerous breaking through in those final two thirds but I think they'll be lucky to finish third in their group because other than that they have nothing. Actually Barton and Rossiter from my perspective looked fine against Motherwell. Rossiter is going to be a cracker as far as I'm concerned. I suspect MW's thinking behind the way he plays them is that Barton is more composed and can deliver a neater pass into the forward areas where as I personally think like HF last season Barton has been surprised just how fast our game is up here, coupled with his age he hasn't quite managed to be up to speed with where he should be in those areas and therefore sometimes looks out of position and cant cover the ground he needs to (only games can get his sharpness up to spec). From having now seen the lad play it's possible that Rossiter could do that job better than Barton. Having Barton as the holding role would free the lad to use that tenacity of his further up the field. I think we could break down the oppositions play much quicker with him promoted further forward although the jury is still out for me whether moving Barton to that deeper position would help Joey.
  17. I've not posted for a wee while whats all this palaver with password having a timer? Unlike those who refuse to watch any of this teams games I wanted to see for myself what exactly it was that these world beaters the MSM were bombarding me with that I should be worried about. The blurb from pretty much all sources was that Forrest was like a new player playing out of his skin, Broonie is back to his old and best self now that he's concentrating only on the Parkhead club, Grifiths is on fire scoring goals for a laugh and Ted Rodgers has done a wonderful astute bit of business in signing 3-2-1 Mil man Sinclair. Here's what I seen. Brown was a week off the pace chasing shadows. Forrest was virtually anonymous hiding behind a blade of grass I suspect. Grifiths was contained by no one in particular to an odd shot from 20-30 yards outside the box. Sinclair for me was the only one mentioned by the press that looked as though he could do some damage however he was reduced to defensive duties most of the time as the HBS right back (who I thought had a great game) stretched both Sinclair and Tierney. On the other side of the park Janko was getting roasted by anyone who took the ball anywhere near him. Lustig hadn't a clue what he was doing when facing his own goals so much so that his defensive partner Toure (who appears a decent stopper if they can keep him fit) looked completely bemused about it through out the game. Late in the game they brought on Dembele up front to partner Sinclair. Now this partnership looked more dangerous than the Sinclair, Grifiths combo however both Dembele and Sinclair like to occupy more or less the same space which has good and bad connotations for us facing them if Rodgers goes with that pairing. Effectively they would be doubling up on Tav and he would need to be on his mettle to deal with both of them at the same time however I think he could eat either of them, individually, for breakfast. HBS played against a flooded midfield with two touch, quick passing, moving, switching play down the flanks and penetrative runs into the box to mix it up, pretty much how we are set up to play but as yet havent quite got up to speed with all the new boys. They exposed the midfield area as an overly complicated congestion of the spine of the park from Toure to Grifiths. They used the above to good effect and bypassed that congestion by playing around them. The result being that I cant even remember who was playing in midfield for the team from the Eastend they were that non existent. I'll add more thoughts to the post, re: Rossiter/Barton/Holt?Halliday/Windass etc if the discussion develops.
  18. Aye Ok... I'm away tae record the tennis on my Betamax!
  19. Way tae cut yer nose aff tae spite yer face. The profile of the women's game in the last few years has sky rocketed and quite rightly too. Granted its not as fast or physical as the men's game although they're no shirkers and it can get quite tousy now and then. It is however filled with skill based players, some of the players have fantastic skill and I'm not just talking about wee Kim Little here. Secondly and perhaps more importantly its an emerging market and a huge one at that. Rangers would be boxing clever to throw a loss leader or two in at the moment setting the ground work to tap that market as the profile rises.
  20. I'm more concerned about the lack of condemnation from SPFL/SFA and Scottish Media sources than I am about whether a political party has any Rangers supporters within it because quite frankly its a red herring that is based in sheer conjecture. For example the media are still reporting violence towards Rangers players and staff as 'alleged' when at least one Hibernian supporter has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in July. Which changes alleged an 'accusation' to be answered to an answered conviction. It is no longer alleged that a Hibernian supporter entered the field of play and threatened, intimidated and assaulted a Rangers player. Its a fact that he did! That's what we should be concentrating on.
  21. Joey just raised the Cantona - Sartre with his Camus. Ha ha ha... classic!
