  1. I don't fancy Broadfoot's aerial ability so i don't really fancy him at CB. I would give him the chance to prove himself though.
  2. Not many top managers will go with that, so hopefully for Boyd he will up his game and improve his general skills. good for Boyd, good for Rangers.
  3. Possibly but you were putting the blame on the people criticising him and not on Chris Boyd and i seem to remember about 40.000 posts with it is goals that count in it. Would he have tried to up his game if he did not get the criticism he has now received. If improving his out the box play does result in less goals for him but better link-up play that brings other players in better positions then that will be accepted but if he gets caught in no-man's land and does none well, he will get criticised. I for one don't want a lazy poacher who does nothing else for the team than score a lot of penalties and some good goals in my team, but the CB of the last 2 games would be a first pick. 20 years ago it would be okay but in this modern athletic age it is not acceptable. The ball moves so fast now from front to back that you really need someone who can control and hold a ball up in the forward area. A striker losing the ball is a danger for the defence. Team game! That is the point we criticise Boyd for he is not a team player. Sorry off to work can't reply again until tonight.
  4. I can't believe Jon and Johnny claiming a victory here. Were they not the ones that were willing to accept his lazy mediocrity as long as he scored. It is a bit like me saying to the wife i think i will paint the room and her saying it is fine the way it is. After it is painted she then says i told you it was needing done up. Boyd is now getting plaudits because he has upped his game to the level his critics have been wanting. His critics are the ones that should be feeling good about Boyds improvement not the ones that were willing to accept his lazy mediocrity. I for one hope he can keep up this form and add that bit extra to his game because it will make him a class act. We all knew he can score goals, that was never under question.
  5. I would love to see this taken through the courts as i don't really see a case for arrest. It would certainly start a dangerous trend in freedom of speech or lack of it. What about all the pop songs where the texts are a bit dodgy are the singers going to be arrested. I doubt it, this will be another case of the police setting an example but only to Rangers fans.
  6. Funny enough Gribz it was always the Celtic end no matter who we played( Well at least in my circles.) I can't even remember people calling it the Broomloan much in those days. My sisters boyfriend then, husband now, had gotten an extra ticket. He is a red hot Celtic supporter and Catholic. He and his brother and other guy's from the snaffle bit pub, took me with them.
  7. I won't be there but i believe that is the way to go. What a slap in the face it would be for the family if they had chosen for applause and no one clapped. In modern life we have to be flexible and accept new idea's. Technology is setting new boundaries everyday, if you set your feet fast you will live in the past and the world will pass you by. Just wonder if BD still uses the ancient accountancy tools instead of modern computers and calculators.
  8. Excellent post from Cal and a great piece from Traynor. Sums up everything really. The whole thing is totally mind-boggling pettish to be true.Unbelievable.

Not so sure about the bench bit craig, as we have just went 2 weeks without a game. I think match practise to find our form is probably a better bet. Fergie could be on the bench but Mendes should play.
  10. I prefer a minutes silence but i think it is all about what the family want and not what i want. To be honest BD i think it is disrespectful and a bit selfish of you to put your non-acceptance of a new trend in showing respect before the wishes of the family. It is not about Bluedell it is about the family McColl. Sorry.
  11. I have been in the Celtic end at Ibrox when we were playing Celtic. We won 3-0 so i nearly bit my tongue off trying to keep quiet. It was great hearing the groans of pain from close up though.
  12. Natalia Barbashina came off the substitutes' bench to score an excellent solo goal that gives Russia the edge in their UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009ââ??¢ play-off against Scotland. Russia ahead Having been boosted by manager Anna Signeul's decision to sign a new two-year contract despite an offer from the United States, Scotland took the lead almost immediately though Pauline Hamill, only for Olesya Kurochkina to instantly level. Hamill then struck an excellent free-kick, but Natalia Mokshanova made the most of a penalty at the end of a frantic half-hour and Barbashina, on for Kurochkina, struck late on to give Russia renewed hope of reaching their first final tournament since the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup. Early goals Scotland, at this stage for the first time, began the game without captain Julie Fleeting due to suspension, but even without the scorer of 107 international goals, they were ahead after two minutes. Joanne Love played in a ball from the left that the Russia defence were not able to clear and Hamill's shot eluded the grasp of goalkeeper Elvira Todua. However, the celebrations had barely ended when Kurochkina broke free, outpaced the Scotland defence, and shot past Gemma Fay. Second equaliser The home side were not disheartened, though, and in the 13th minute scored again. A Russia handball in a central position on the edge of the box conceded a free-kick which Hamill curled past the dive of Todua. Yet as the half-hour approached Michelle Kerr tripped Valentina Savchenkova in the Scotland box and Mokshanova slipped her penalty underneath Fay's dive for her eleventh goal in qualifying. Substitute strikes It was unlikely that the second half would start like the first though Olga Petrova, a half-time replacement in the Russia midfield for Elena Morozova, shot just wide after combining with Mokshanova. Russia coach Igor Shalimov also sent on Barbashina, and with 15 minutes left she set off on a surging run that took her past Kerr, fellow substitute Leanne Ross and Ifeoma Dieke before powering a shot inside the far post. Hamill hit the side-netting and Todua dived to save a Kerr header late on, but Signeul's side will have to score at least twice in Nalchik on Thursday, though they will have Fleeting back in the side.
  13. Scored a good goal today, what more do you want!
  14. Sorry for this late reply but i feel i do have to mention this again. First of all i have never been to a game where the fans sung from start to finish. It was not always high-tech songs and sometimes just olay olay, olay, Fc Twente but the difference was, almost the whole crowd joined in.(At least within my range) They had a set of about 10 drummers in what they call the P section(Utra's) and they keep going from the first to the last minute and seem to pick the songs to be sung. At one point they had one song where a few thousand on the long side started singing. Not much i thought. At the end, then the drums and the whole stadium seemed to kick in with the same song. The crescendo stopped and the small group then took over, again at the end, the whole stadium kicked in again, this happened about 4 times i was really impressed and it was obviously arranged.(Small, crescendo, Small, crescendo) And hey, not one song about the hate of another club, just about their love of FC Twente. The atmosphere was fantastic! The football well that is another story. When i left Glasgow to come to Holland i wanted to carry on going to football as i had done with Rangers. Unfortunately i just can't get into that chess-board football. Give me Scottish football any day. As for strikers that do nothing, then Blaise N'kovu must take the biscuit for me. If i watched that guy every week i would have pulled my hair out years ago. Twente scored early on and that was virtually end of game. Football crap, atmosphere 200%.
  15. As far as i heard on the radio the weather was not perfect for passing the ball. Plus it is common that players have a backwards step while they try to fit in. In the first few games they run on adrenaline and then reality kicks in. Mendes will come back to form i am sure of that.
  16. Totally agree BD and i would go as far to say he would only come off the bench at home to Celtic. I watched Blaise Nkufo for FC Twente during the week and he makes Boyd look like a work-horse. Touched the ball about 5 times in the whole game and doesn't even jump with the defenders to a high ball. But he scores 20+ a season so in the Boyd theory i suppose that is all that counts.
  17. personally i would prefer that Fergie goes. For the short and long term.
  18. Sorry Cal we are not part of a bigger country, we are a partner in a union.
  19. Got a freebie ticket for this game tonight so i am going to have some Euro excitement this year. The Grolsch Feste( Twente stadium) has just had a new tier added to it,so i am looking forward to seeing it. I Would prefer to be watching Rangers on the telly but shit happens. I will try and get some good pics to post later on my stadium tour of Europe.
  20. Above video is no longer available! Great piece Cammy.
  21. Great piece Barry. I must admit i am one of the old fuddie duddies that prefer it without the swearing and as you can see from the replies it has brought up more discussion than your excellent post. I feel that, that is a shame. Can i also point out what i believe to be a type fout. I take it you meant Where. Changes the content a bit.
  22. Great read Cal and as Jon said i can't disagree with much.
  23. Both offside. But who cares.
  24. Yip i worked that out the second after i made my post. That is the minimum amount whereas 333k is the maximum otherwise you go into 7 figures.
  25. The Dutch think the qualifying round is over and are already planning for SA. Oh how i would love to beat them home and away.
