It's a decent first team with a few weaknesses. That central defence is dire. Full backs are good. Midfield is quite strong. Can't understand Wilson being omitted.

Bank not running us is handy, but the debt is still there. I don't really see stability going by what seems to be going on right now with the tax stuff and this supposed mortgaging of assets. As for Rangers men running Rangers, I simply want the best and most qualified people running Rangers, whatever their football inclinations are.

Can I just clarify one point. My post was about a rainy day in Falkirk - I am less sure of this Forfar match,
-
Well given Leeds ended up in financial collapse and relegated, I'd say bad.
-
Not jealous because the Europa League is the bowels of European football. My issue with this is they're getting money they're not entitled to. Money we could do with badly.
-
I am no fan of the previous regime either. In fact my post history will show how much I ended up hating the board. I just don't see much evidence this new regime is doing a lot of good for Rangers.

No mentions of Lee 'Robben' Martin?

I'm completely dubious about Whyte. Johnston warned us to be wary of him and his promises. I am beginning to see what he meant. As painful as that is to say. tbh we're no better off now than we were under SDM. Or is that another of my 'gross generalisations'...

Gav, have to side with the others here. I remember the team was appalling at Falkirk one season, with little to no heart. He came on in the pounding rain and gave it absolutely everything, including getting hatcheted over the advertising hoardings. Just dusted himself off, and got on with it. He was our best attacking threat once on and simply looked a class apart from the shirkers that filled up the rest of the jerseys that day. He was treated very badly by this club, by Walter who lied to him, by Eck who kept fannying about regarding him, and even by PLG to an extent. Buffel was an extremely talented player with a much better attitude than many gave him credit for and I hope he and Genk do really well in the CL.

I saw an interesting tweet today. One I found quite amusing. Presumably if Sion get kicked out the Europa League Celtic will decline to participate on grounds of 'sporting integrity'?
-
tbh I am dubious that a 9M bid came in from Liverpool, I think it's actually a load of bollocks. In fact this entire regime is starting to reek of a load of bollocks so far. That said, Celtic taking potshots at us is nothing new, and there's no point dignifying it with a response.

I'm on Gav's m8's side tbh for now. Just because someone used to play for us doesn't make them a great judge of player. I stand by what I originally said - a 28 year old who's played in Australia most his career doesn't fill me with excitement. I will of course be won over if what I see on the pitch contradicts this, as has been the case with Lee Wallace. But for now consider me a skeptic.

Having read Craig's posts over the past few months I have one thing to say: he types a lot!
-
I don't quite follow what you're getting at here.

Gets my vote.

You're being very picky today. I think around 4 of our players are European level - and the likes of Bartley, Wallace and Goian are good if not spectacular. Just because I said Wallace is better imo than Papac doesn't mean I think Wallace is Roberto Carlos. To answer your last question, I'm not sure why you appear to be implying that Papac would have saved the day? I have no idea if we'd have conceded - and neither do you. It's not down to one player, never is.
-
We retained Davis and Shagger, that was vital and I applaud that. Whittaker was a mistake, one I still can't fathom, but fending off at least one bid for Jelavic was impressive. We did a decent job securing what we had, but we didn't do much of a job bringing in better players. We simply bought wholesale, inexpensive players who could do a reasonable job domestically, but which was a long way off being good enough for Europe. You seem to be quite happy with our summers' business?
-
Fair enough, you're a fan of Papac. I'm not so keen on him, particularly his refusal to close down crosses. What I've seen of Wallace has impressed me more than Papac ever did.
-
Has to be Davis. Been pretty consistent.
-
This time last year we'd just signed Jelavic so if we'd then lost him that would have been a dodgy affair indeed
-
I think the squad is BIGGER, but no better.
-
None of them are 'marquee' players, not even close. Goian: seems decent so far, probably about the same as Bougherra but without the stinking attitude. Ortiz: struggled to settle in, not really performing yet. Wallace: decent, better than Papac by a bit of a distance. Bartley: seemed impressive last season but can't judge him yet this year. Bedoya: only just joined, can't really comment yet. Bocanegra: decent without being special. McKay: obviously cannot judge at all. I think we've done very averagely. That Wallace was our big summer signing borders on slightly depressing.

Rangers reject £6.5 million offer for Jelavic

tbh I don't think I'd blame him if he left. We're out of Europe (he's partly to blame) and the Championship is a far higher level than the SPL. It would leave us horribly short up front through. And it's too late to do anything with the money. -
Hearts fan case in Lennon attack.... NOT PROVEN

Well that chap who abused Smith and Diouf online got pretty much the same sentence. You're the long arm of the law, wtf is with these insanely lenient sentences?
