The Winter 2020/21 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
Bill replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
It's difficult to gauge a transfer target properly without first knowing who the club expects to move on in the summer, I think we should be prepared for a few familiar faces to move on and it reassures me that Gerrard doesn't think his mission is accomplished by winning one SPFL title. Long way to go yet hopefully - we need to be laying the foundations of many years of success. -

Radio 4 used to be the epitome of British identity. Now it’s like a drop-in centre for self-pitying woke activists. Like the rest of the BBC its main function seems to be telling audiences how and what to think. -

Absolutely right. It takes about three days to realise you’re not missing anything. -

Scott Wright grew up in our village. He still lives here I believe, at least I see him around sometimes. That said I knew very little about him as a footballer until recent interest from Rangers came to light but it would be nice to have a local lad running out at Ibrox. Unlike the Kittybrewster Kid, it's unlikely he grew up with Rangers on his mind but better late than never. I wish they'd get on with it. -
Rangers announce appointment of Light Blues investor onto Ibrox board
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I just can't see the point of appointing a non-exec to an operating board. It can't be advisory, you don't appoint a director to advise another director you have already appointed to do a specific job. So it's either oversight on behalf of a senior board that he isn't part of, which wouldn't make a lot of sense, or it's in preparation for some planned transition coming down the line. I'm guessing the latter and that this is happening as part of a structural change to the operating board, with Letham perhaps taking up chairmanship of the TRFC board. Otherwise, the natural place for Letham would be on the RIFC board. -

There's no need for a non exec on the football board. It almost certainly points to a division of Andrew Dickson's responsibilities into separate administration and finance portfolios. Either that or Dickson is being replaced altogether, which I doubt. -

That was the first question that came to me too. It might suggest a perceived need for closer control/guidance of TRFC, to tie its progress more closely to the overall funding plan. TRFC board should essentially be made up of people with specific operational skills and if that continues to be the case, you have to wonder if Andrew Dickson has another future planned. -
It's full-on desperation mode now.

That press conference yesterday was a clear signal that preparations for the formal departure of Neil Lennon can at last begin in earnest. I think we can therefore expect this coming weekend to see sports coverage in Scotland devoted almost entirely to eulogising the increasingly demented Neilly, with the loyal spouters at Pacific Quay naturally assuming the role of principal mourners. I expect Pater Lawwell will be cast as the man who brought Scottish football into the 21st century, rooting out much-discussed financial corruption in the process, but whose utility after years of exhausting achievement now has to be questioned. Ever the victim of uncontrollable circumstance, managing Neilly's demise will require a significant sacrifice and Lawwell will be the chosen offering. Peter's understandable burn-out will have led poor Neilly into an impossible corner from which there was no possible escape. Poor Neilly, with everyone conspiring against him, this may be a long process.. Keep your sick bags within reach.

From a practical rather than a moralistic standpoint, there's really nothing Rangers can or should do unilaterally. At least nothing that wouldn't risk making the situation even worse than it is today. If some fans are missing out then they need to take it up with the BBC, not Rangers. -

I think Cedric Itten's time is fast approaching. For the first time I'd say he looks genuinely ready. Far more important right now is to get Ryan Jack back in the midfield before it completely runs out of steam. I just wish Scott Arfield was closer to a return too. I'd like to see this option tried..... Itten - Roofe - Hagi Davis - Jack - Kamara Barisic - Helander - Goldson - Tavernier McGregor -

A chilling read. If there's a more penetrating writer out there on key Rangers issues I've yet to come across him or her. I've shared this to several thousand followers across social media - and urge everyone who sees merit in these words to do the same - it's the only way to fight back. -

I’m not sure it’s yet an illness to be a complete bastard. -
I have some doubts if he could get a game in our current midfield and if not then it would be a backwards move to sign Lewis Ferguson.

I predict a full blown mental health crisis being concocted, leading to an absence on compassionate grounds and a cloying exploitation of acquired victimhood. Light a candle at the vigil for poor Neil. -

Despite him being a despicable scrote, there are times you have to give Neil Lennon credit for being the perfect embodiment of his club, the personification of everything that makes Celtic the unique football club it is. Few other people could so perfectly display the whining victimhood and complete absence of honesty and dignity that have become so emblematic of Celtic. -
He reminds me a bit of Ian Ferguson when he signed from St Mirren. Which can't be altogether a bad thing.
-
There's much negative sentiment expressed in some corners towards Lewis Ferguson but it seems inevitable he will be on Gerrard's radar.

It's interesting to see almost half of those who played being nominated as MOTM ... in a game where it's difficult to believe more than a couple could possibly have earned it. This seems to suggest that it might after all be possible to please all of the people all of the time. ?

Ex-Rangers administrators David Whitehouse and Paul Clark in £21m settlement
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
"maliciously prosecuted" That's one hell of an admission. It says the justice system in Scotland is unfit for purpose and is operating on behalf of someone other than the people of Scotland - and in the absence of any stated remedy, that this remains the case today. And that is a characteristic of a failed state. It means you cannot trust anything from parliament to the judiciary to the justice service to the police. It's almost beyond words what has happened to this country.
