Club confirm Lee Wallace and Kenny Miller suspended until further notice

Recommended Posts

Murty has gone from being overseer of our under 21s/youth set up to temporary manager of Rangers twice. He has been in charge during some awful performances and results, particularly at Ibrox. Rangers should not be succumbing to Accies, St Johnstone, Killie, ........ etc at home in the same season. Overall, I think we should thank Murty for providing a dozen weeks of hope. However, the old firm game at Ibrox was an open goal he failed to convert. Almost forty second half minutes against ten men, and he took off the one player that can get his head up and play a pass, Goss. Now, the QPR loanee might have had an indifferent game up to that point; circumstances change, more space available, and we have no one who can play the necessary pass. We played for forty minutes in front of ten men, without attempting to get in behind.

Graeme Murty should realise his time has come and gone as Rangers manager. If he doesn't, then those in the Rangers Boardroom should tell him soonest. They should thank Murty for twelve weeks breathing space, but short term solutions are not the answer. Fiddling with tactics when over arching strategy is what is required is damning. A largely absentee landlord of a Chair, Park in to firefight as Vice-Chair(we are told he pressed heavily for Pedro's appointment), and issues such as a Rights Issue meandering off into the ether.

The last five games of the season are mega important as to the club's financial plan. Securing second place is a must because it is integral to competing in Europe, where the Chair has identified the necessary monies can be raised. The current laissez-faire attitude at Board level is not acceptable. The spat involving the temporary manager and two senior players is a symptom of a lack of hands-on Board management.

Disappointing from Miller and Wallace, especially Wallace because he still had a contribution to make. On the other hand this guarantees Miller won't get a new contract which is good and Wallace's wages can be used to sign a younger, hungrier player who will make the club money and stay injury free.

It's safe to assume from the story that they crossed the lines so no matter how poor the performance was the board had no choice.

Which do you prefer?  Players going mental after that totally unacceptable performance or a manager saying he won't be saying anything to the players because there will be conflict?

I think what he said was that it was too raw to analyse immediately after because everyone was too angry to discuss it rationally. He was evidently right about that.

He evidently wasn't as his approach has led to the sacking and/or suspension of two players.

Well, Barton laid into his fellow players and the manager the day after the OF debacle* and was sent packing. It all depends what was said and how, but we sure lack a few strong characters on and off the field.

*And while people may not like him, it was not his fault that we were horsed 5-1 that day. He was chasing the Scum folk all day and was brecking his neck to prevent the 5th going in. Nothing I saw from his fellow chaps ...

True. Sounds like it’s got so poisonous that kicked off anyway. Don’t buy the ‘showing some passion’ angle on this, personally. Showed no fight on the pitch and post match tantrums don’t make up for that

One who probably had a petted lip because he wasn't a first choice for the match (Miller) and another who has probably been pissed off from not getting a look in since returning from injury thus suffering from the same affliction as Miller....and in both cases so very fucking poor having a go at the manager, fair enough fighting among them selves as i've been there and done it.

As seen from Halliday's attitude when subbed, he should have thought himself fortunate to get a starting position.

Hard to know what to think about this.

Murty is clearly working on borrowed time.

I think it's fair to say that Miller and Wallace don't exactly have the trust of the support.  Neither are they making a great contribution on the pitch.  Not a great platform for a dressing room revolt.

We already knew that we needed to replace Murty with a proper manager.

We have known for a couple of years that we needed to replace Miller with a proper forward.

The only revelation will be whether or not Lee Wallace has a future at Rangers.  A dwindling number of supporters seems to care about him coming back into the team.

I think Alves suffers from the same thing Barton did to an extent. High expectations mean they can't do anything right for some people, when they both suffered from playing in a poor team for managers who weren't up to it.
