One positive. We have an 18 year old defender who didn’t look out of place in this company.5 points

Ultimately well beaten as Liverpool eased off in the 2nd half. The usual caveats over resources aside, we didn't really offer any decent quality on the ball until far too late in the game. You can play better teams but you can't afford to be so poor on the ball. Not good enough. Obviously there were a few exceptions to that. McGregor was excellent, Goldson was largely solid whilst Matondo and Sakala provided a work-rate and threat that was missing previously. However, we're clearly well short overall and that goes further than a few bad passes. Before bed, our season won't be defined by dropping out the CL group stage. However, the manager really needs to find a system and an XI that provides a lot more consistency and quality domestically and in Europe. As it stands I'm not seeing much progress but no white flag yet.4 points

Really good effort against a club that gets a £130m TV handout every year plus CL money. Anyone seriously expecting us to be competing on an equal basis with Liverpool at Anfield is deluded. Win, lose or draw, the objective for me is to walk off at FT with the players feeling good about themselves and thinking about next week at Ibrox. McGregor and Goldson have been huge.4 points

Well, that was 2-nil going on six. Thank you Greegsy. Liverpool had 16 corners, we had one. Still, it is an improvement, 4-0 becomes 3-0, then 2-0. Clearly, the Champions League is a step too far for our beloved club so far?3 points

Yeah you gey more MyGers points for buying a pair of slippers than you do for standing out side Alloas ground in the snow trying to punt tickets your clubs been left with because Rangers dumped them on you 2 days before the game and refusing them would impact your allocation going forward. The loyalty honoured depends on the colour of your money.2 points

Not too bad really. They could'nt score from open play. The young lad King did not look out of place. Colak, Kamara, Jack, Matondo & Sakala were good subs and made an impact. Not happy to be beaten, but not embaressed either. Onwards and Upwards. WATP2 points

I thought our defensive players did okay tonight. The midfield was overrun and the wide men (Kent and Tillman) were largely useless. I was really disappointed we didn't make changes while we were only a goal behind. Winning on Saturday is more important and I doubt any players are too downhearted about losing 2-0 at Anfield. Too many corporate tickets in our end again. Ajax were much, much louder because they sell tickets to real supporters.2 points

Liverpool hate everything and everyone including themselves its bred into them.2 points

Wasn't a shrinking violet when we destroyed Dortmund away last season. We are outclassed at this level and quicker we understand and accept that, the better. We've punched above our weight for 2 or 3 years in Europe, starting with SG and continued with Gio last season and this season by qualifying for the CL. Wouldn't matter who our manager was, it would be same outcome.2 points

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62338836 Just found this fancy layout !! Sands suspended Not many options in the middle if Jack is out. If he is declared fit, I'll put a fiver on him being taken off by or at HT. Kamara in from the cold or McCann Is Davies ready for a full game ? If Leon King were to come in and have a good game, he'd instantly be worth more than we paid for Davies. Arfield won't last a full game at the pace this game will need. Will Steve Davis ? Even with the players that are available tonight, too many who have to be constantly managed in terms of minutes.2 points

Not sure but is that not the guy that seen red during a Europa league match a couple year back going for a similar high ball?2 points

If someone had offered me 2-0 at kick off, I'd probably have taken it. A bit embarrassing but that's where modern football has got us.1 point

The bulk of this team peaked a while ago and it shows. Put that together with the most difficult group we have ever been in and you're always going to be struggling. Our next away game in the CL is against Napoli, a team who scored TEN against Liverpool (4) and Ajax (6) in the same ground.1 point

I actually think Gio is far better at setting up an aggressive, attacking team than a defensive, controlled team. It's just that he seems to think he's better at setting up the other way round.1 point

Simply down to Liverpool having far superior players to us with vast CL experience.1 point

But again there is no urgency. No pressing, no energy. We are outclassed, I get that, but I want to see some passion.1 point

The worst thing about it is you could see it coming. What the actual F were we thinking about in putting together a squad for this season? If it was about saving money, it is going to end up having the opposite effect.1 point
