  2. I must have watched a different game, I thought he did ok and has done recently. I can't see your mind ever being changed though.

  3. Aye right up there with losing 2-1 to Raith in Scottish Cup and drawing 1-1 with Stirling Albion. Did you sleep through the Super Ally managerial era?

  4. Lammers worked hard closing down and doesn't hide when we have possession, he made a contribution last night. He's improved since Clement arrived, like everyone else I'm doubtful he's going to make it with us, but I'm not sure who you play in his place currently. He'd one beautiful bit of skill late in the 2nd half, he got fouled but the ref played the advantage which came to nothing. As we keep saying there's a player in there, he's just hiding him very well. Prague were always going to come back into it in the second half. Sparta are no mugs, they've some decent players and are experienced at this level. That they changed their tactics and upped their game after half time shouldn't surprise anyone. This is the Europa League, we're going to have periods where the opposition are on top. As it was we defended pretty well and again Butland showed his quality, he's been a great signing. Four weeks ago I wouldn't have believed this performance was possible. What Clement, his coaching team and our players have done in such a short space of time is remarkable. We're not only winning again we're doing it in an attractive and exhilarating way.

  5. Disgraceful, disgusting, ignorant manager? Clement has been here five minutes, with the same players who lost at home to Aberdeen, and he’s still not delivering 90 minutes of perfection. What’s the point of winning in Europe if fans are going to be let down as badly as this?

  6. Very chuffed today after our hard fought victory last night. The players gave their all and some were literally on their knees which contributed partly to Sparta's second half resurgence. It was a nervous finish to a game that should have been out of sight. I am so proud of everyone from the manager down. What a transformation. We are well on course to staying in the competition. It was good to see the manager's human side in the post match interview.

  7. I think we're starting to reap the rewards of the campaigns from the last few years, another 3/4 seasons and we'll be laughing with our 10 year coefficient. I'll include a link to our points/rankings. https://www.football-coefficient.eu/team/322-rangers-fc/

  8. "Naive Celtic need to learn from the masters of the dark arts". Above is the headline from today's Herald. There is a struggle to come to terms with Tuesday evening's Champions League skelping in Madrid. The Journo penning the piece is Graeme McGarry, the Herald's current Senior Sports Writer; recently before his designation was, Senior Celtic Writer. Graeme is a growing group of obsessive scarred Journos attending weekly self help meetings. However the group hugs(should that be Huddle) are not enough, you have to write Sellik View pysh to attain a tad more comfort. Anyways, below are the first two paragraphs, any further exposure will have you searching for your own self help groupings. "If you are going to get a lesson in the dark arts of football, then you may as well get it from the masters. Atletico Madrid's jaw dropping Estadio Municipal could well be the Harvard of football's dirty tricks, and how to deploy them while testing the boundaries of the rulebook. Certainly, there was more than a whiff of orchestration about the way the entire Atletico bench sprung up in unison when Celtic winger, Daizen Maeda went in late to a challenge with their defender, Mario Hermoso, and how they then crowded referee, Ivan Kruzliak to keep the pressure on him as he reviewed the incident on the VAR screen". Graeme let me remind you of the final result : Atletico 6(SIX) Sellik 0. The only dark arts are allowing Kevin McKenna to whisper whilst he sticks his tongue in your ear.

  9. Thank god you are not anti Rangers I shiver to think what drivel you would then post😨

  10. Sorry but I thought Lammers was fine tonight as he was on Sunday. Also thought Dessers hold up play was very good in the closing stages and he should have been introduced a little earlier. Think all of our players deserved pass-marks, including the subs.

  12. Sparta Prague aren't "Cannon Fodder"..... And did Big Sam Lammers jilt you at the alter or pee in your Frosties?

  13. It's like the Rev IM Jolly in a particularly depressed mood. All for realism and objectivity but if I hated my team that much, I just wouldn't bother I don't think.

  14. It's a long time since I saw a Rangers manager in such complete control of a press conference as Philippe Clement. He's comfortable offering what he wants to say but he totally dictates the conversation. You can already see a change in the way the journalists ask questions.

  15. Yeah, I think I can agree that we're watching completely different games.

  16. I think he was better without the ball pressing and closing down passing lanes. He didnt do much in possession. However that's not a great measure of success for a Rangers foward.

  17. Between Davies and Jack for me. Danilo did well at times but Jack in particular gave us the platform to win the game by ensuring we won the ball back quickly. We struggled as he tired late on and Cifu wasn't able to get up to speed quickly. I'd be surprised if Jack starts on Sunday but if he doesn't we'll miss him on this kind of form.

  18. The day after the night before. A few musings on the game against Sparta. Started well, took a couple of chances, made another few opportunities for the third but failed to close the deal. I thought Ryan Jack was back to his metronome best for 65 minutes. Jack and the rest ran out of puff and legs between the 65th and 70th minutes. Clement appears to know when and who to utilise in substitutions although I thought he left it a tad late last night? I voted Ryan Jack man of the match; however, two notable mentions. The first is Jack Butland, he came and took three cross balls at important times. He had one save and what a save, a stinger of a shot was not only parried but pushed away for a corner on the 77th minute. Ross McAusland made a telling contribution, he made two killer defence splitting passes, the first was the ball of the night. Oh, in case some Gersnetters are not aware, Sellik were pumped six nil by Atletico.

  19. I always put a bet on my prediction every game , what I meant was there wasn't much on the odds for a straight win to entice me.

  20. Davies was superb over the piece too. It was hard to separate these two.

  21. That’s pretty much the players I would pick out too but I’ll go for Ryan Jack … unspectacular but absolutely essential work in midfield. His best game in ages.

  22. Yes, the international break will come at the right time. Hopefully we get some injured players back and can do some business in January.

  23. Yeah, badly worded and I'm trying to eradicate the Ally managerial years from my memory 😉

  24. Very good result. The drop in quality in the second half shows that we are relying on some of our first choice players.

  25. The quality dropped after each substitution. It was nowhere near as bad as you describe it.

  26. Don’t think ally was manager when we lost to raith in the SC 😋

  27. I thought Lammers was OK for the most part but started to give it away in the 2nd half too easily again. Over the piece, he's just not good enough. I don't think we need to worry too much though: Lawrence, Matondo and Cantwell will take his place after the international break.

  29. Lost our way a wee bit at times in the 2nd half but, in the end, a well deserved and vital win. Felt we tired somewhat as the game went on and were too open as a result but players kept plugging away and fans really made a difference after Sparta scored. Well done one and all! A real pity Goldson was booked during a 'dead' period of play as their player was offside. He, along with Davies and Butland played well and once again allowed us the foundation to be more attacking. Unfortunately, guys like Danilo, Cantwell, Sima and Jack all visibly tired late on and I did feel the manager could have made changes earlier. However, it can be difficult for players to come into an open game like that was so I understand why he waited. Never heard of the referee deciding on extra minutes for time wasting but I'm not au fait with the current rules there. In the end a very good win and hopefully we're able to freshen up the side on Sunday.

  30. C'mon, why don't you include Ian Durrant then, how about Derek Johnstone or John Greig? I mean if you're counting players from 20 years ago why not just make it 50 years and we can close the discussion now? Or, we can talk about the here and now, where we actually are as a club and deal with reality? If they don't break through to our first team then really, what's the point? Listing players the club released as an example of how good our youth system is seems a self defeating argument. The fact that Greg Taylor is a first choice full back for Celtic is not the ringing endorsement for the Rangers 'Academy' that you seem to think it is. Look, I'll be delighted if McCausland, Rice and King, or any of our current youths, go on and establish themselves as first team regulars, I'll gladly recant my criticism. I'm sceptical, but we'll see. Ryan Kent played 140 games for Rangers, that's a decent return for any player who was 19 when they joined us. Did we overpay for him, probably, and should we have sold him a couple of seasons ago, definitely. Same with Morelos and Kamara. But all 3 of those players contributed more to our first team than every Academy player put together over the last 5 seasons. Let Motherwell or Hibs or Charlton or whoever develop them into first team players, then we should sign them young, offer them the chance to play in front of 50,000, European football, the chance of medals and fame before moving to a wealthier club in a wealthier league. From the outside that looks to be a much better 'business model' for the club. It's interesting that Celtic had a short period where they developed McGregor, Forrest, Christie and Tierney, successfully integrating them into their first team. The period coincided with us being out of the league. Without us the challenge to win the SPFL was much easier, Celtic could afford to drop points, take some chances on youth and know it wouldn't really matter come title time. Since our return they've not developed anyone of note. I don't think that's coincidence. I've been having this same conversation on here for a long time. I'd love Rangers to be able to spot, nurture and produce our own players, but unfortunately all the available evidence says we haven't and can't.

  31. The Jolly Bhoys' Outing. Madrid in the second week of December is most attractive and the PQ Gang Hut have been rubbing their hands at the prospect since the Champions League group stage draw. Tapas and vino veritas is just the very rub. Of course, only those that are up to date in their sub' contributions need apply for a seat on the Beeb CS bus. Leaving from PQ and, pick ups at the Admiral Bar and Candleriggs. In the Spanish capital since Sunday night, both Sheelagh McLaren and Martin Dowden did traveling supporters VoxPops for Monday and Tuesday lunchtime and evening TV news. James McFadden and Liam McLeod did Brendan's presser and Monday evening training at the Atletico stadium. Tuesday night saw the same pair do the match commentary. In the studio were Big Dick, Aiden McGeady and, the current unwelcome Tom English. Post game, the consensus was the plucky purveyors of cavalier football were unjustly undone by Masonic VAR. Aiden was particularly upset. We can only assume Pat Bonner and Chris McLaughlin missed the bus? The game finished Atletico 6 Sellik 0. Thus, there were no mentions of the result in Wednesday morning, lunch or, evening bulletins. No supporters VoxPops either. An admiral decision or more probably an Admiral Bar decision? Wednesday night and former Sellik TV employee, Michael Stewart brought much needed gravitas to the situation. He told the listenership that Sellik were deserving of six points from their two Champions League home fixtures against Lazio and Atletico. Further, only one of the red cards in Rotterdam was correct and last night's red card for the Bushido Warrior was also a travesty. There you have it, the Jolly Bhoys have decreed Sellik have at least seven or maybe nine Champions League points and do not forget the bonus three points for hitting the post against Real Madrid last season. The next stop is Rome where Connie McLaughlin, Amy Canavan and, Sheelagh McLaren will perform a re-enactment of, 'Three Bhints in a Fountain'. I wonder who won the bus sweep?
