  1. All very well playing well once the league is already done. If they want to prove themselves, they need to turn up at Hampden a week on Saturday. Does anyone think they will?

  2. The Jolly Bhoy's Outing. Here's the gig. Tom continues his refusal to apologise to Peter over the article he penned reference Brendan's itchy feet. Tom remains not welcome at ra Stade de Gadd and Lennoxtown. Chris has empathy and as such, is consigned to ra grassy knoll across London Road from ra Sellik Way. The PQ CSC supporters' bus travels without Tom and Chris. Convenor, Kheredine Idessane is demanding club Treasurer, Martin Dowden publishes the dues owing. Secretary, Amy Canavan insists upon a constant Sellik State of Mind. Effectively, ra green'n'grey hooped horrors won the Premiership on Saturday after their 2-1 victory over Rangers. BBC Scotland ensured their targeted, preferred audience were fully informed, live radio and online commentary plus TV highlights. Compare and contrast with the five years license fee Rangers supporters endured when Chris fell out with our club? We had to wait until after the final whistle to hear that week's nominated naughty step occupier look at a studio monitor and relay the score. On Saturday last, Tom was confined to the studio and Chris visited the Pride Collection to squeeze into lederhosen. Bavaria bound and hoping Pinocchio would utter some lies whilst Chris squatted on his face, Gollum got away from fellow gloating Yahoos by doing a promo for Auntie on the upcoming Euros in Germany. It is a three day jolly, taking in accommodation, spa facilities, tourism opportunities, tasting the big sausage and, sipping from a stein. Tomorrow, after horticultural tips from Berchtesgarden Chris goes full Cabaret. He is intent upon telling us the Money, Money required for a short time with a Chick with a Stick. Well, he has to grab Brenda's interest. Will both BBC Scotlands Sports Correspondent and Chief Football Writer be in attendance at the Scottish Cup final next Saturday, does Peter's influence extend to Hampden? We should be told.

  3. The vogue PC chaps over here have banned that word. The sane community thus describes these people now as ... Persons without permanent residence and a liberal attitude towards other people's property.

  4. Young Fraser at LB looked particularly good, always great to see the young lads doing well.

  5. Watching him try and recover against Maeda was brutal viewing though. Carragher did a little piece to camera on MNF last week about how Casemiro needs to leave to the MLS or Saudi because his legs have gone and that it's sad to see him like that. That's where I was with Tav on Saturday - if he was a brilliant defender with little pace I'd happily keep him as a starter, like an Azpilicueta or Carvajal..but alas, he isn't. Although if we had a good structure and system in place his deficiencies would be less prominent.

  6. The guys who turn up every week and are available to play at a good level are the least of our worries IMO. Tav has good games and bad but overall he is still one of our best, unless we get a Saudi super bid he is going nowhere anyway.

  7. Time is up for Ryan Jack but it would be good to see him playing before he moves on.

  8. A few short weeks ago, Rangers was in poll position, in the the box seats, in the League, and we should be looking, today, at clinching the title, tomorrow, or next weekend. That we are not is mainly down to the players, aided by an horrendous injury list, if we were to be scrupulously fair. I have thought, on and off, for a while, that this season was, and is, a 'free hit' for M Clement and his coaching, etc. staff, and that this was known, understood, and agreed by him, and by the board, at Day 1. I concede that this is purely speculation, but when MB departed, did anybody really think that the team would have won the League Cup, reached the final of the Scottish, and been so in control of the League Championship that winning it was in its grasp? Did anybody really think that winning the 23/24 League Flag was a sine qua non for continued employment of manager and coaches? I don't think anybody did, and the reason for the general grumpiness, now, is that the opportunity to win the Title slipped, dashing raised expectations. (Continued capitulation to PIE FC did not help). I assume that manager and coaches have now a clear idea of who is worth their salt, and who isn't, who has the stones, and who doesn't, who is a malingerer, and who isn't, who has the talent, and who doesn't, whom they can trust, and whom they can't, who they can improve, and whom they can't, and so on.... If we can have a decent stab at putting names to these categories, then surely to God, a coaching team of guys who have played and coached professionally can see this with greater clarity. Next season is not, cannot and will not be a 'free hit', and the Key Performance Indicator must be: Win the fucking League.

  10. Not quite sure what happened to Dundee's challenge in that 2nd period and, it might not mean much in the grand scheme of things, but some credit due to our players for a much improved half. I'll happily take that small positive ahead of the Cup Final.

  16. It strikes me that the vaunted 'Player Trading Model' only really works when you have gettable, already identified, replacements for the asset(s) whom you wish, or need, to sell. If you don't have this crucial part of the model in place, then you end up keeping players to pacify the manager, and the support, and risking these assets disappearing on a Bosman for free (and, of course, with no replacements in immediate view). Is it too much to hope that we move towards this slicker, more professional, m.o.? Or is it all just too difficult?

  18. Not to sound like captain obvious but we also need to install a 'No Dickhead Policy', for want of a better term, when scouting potential targets. Thorough background and character references - players who show up well in a dressing room and against adversity. Players who want to be the best they can be rather than coming to collect a big signing on fee and paycheck. We've had some pull out of playing because they aren't 100% imo. That's not on. Maybe I'm shouting at the clouds though - I'm just fed up of seeing a team full of 'crocks' and chancers.

  19. @Rousseau will be appointing the Director of Football. He's too modest to reveal this. And, he couldn't take the cut in wages to do it himself.

  20. I don't disagree with the retained list but I just can't see how we shift Tav and Goldson outwith Saudi money. Both have 2 years left (criminal), legs have completely gone and have a really poor recent CV (post Seville). Although I am encouraged by the links we've had in the market in recent weeks. Qerfeld, Cordoba and Mofokeng are all players in markets we should be looking at at the right age profile too. Clement today saying we need to replace the experience that will be leaving is a nonsense though, the average age of the starting XI next season needs to come down by about 4 or 5 years compared to this - if that means it takes a couple of seasons to hit a groove and gel then so be it. And don't give me the pish that you don't win with youngsters either - Arsenal have a young team atm and are pushing City to the last day...but guess what? They'll get better and better. If there's Bosmans out there like Alzate or Ben Johnson to be done then by all means do it - but I want the actual transfer fee's spent on youth, athleticism and potential. Sellable assets basically. Hopefully this post makes sense.

  21. I learned something valuable today. No Ranger games are to be listened to while in the office. This team is schizoid. They won though.

  24. If you wanted to watch a team bereft of confidence tonight, then Ibrox is the place to be. Some decent moments but the all too common double jeopardy of missed chances with awful defending again evident. Very disappointed in a few players with a few simply passing the buck.

  27. Ideally, you would have a 'production line' of young talent. The problem is that this, to be successful, requires an enormous operation, involving age groups from 5/6/7 yrs upwards, and, what has always seemed to me, at least, a rather harsh culling operation, telling really very young children that they are being cut. We seem, and are not alone in this, to poach players from other clubs, at c16/17 yrs, for a 'development fee'. This must be a cheaper option. Has it been successful? The aim must be to have young players to step into the shoes of your bankable assets.m, along with a comprehensive programme of potential acquisitions.

  28. Very much so, we are no longer in a position to hold on to an asset and let it walk out the door a couple of years later for nothing. We also need to have more confidence in our ability to recruit, rather than be afraid of letting go.

  31. Given the scale of injuries we now have, we really are down to the bare bones in terms of selection. We still have an XI capable of winning but this side doesn't scream character or physicality so Dundee will be keen to get stuck in tomorrow not. I, erm, can't wait... Regarding injuries, this has gone beyond an issue to joke about now. Yes, the manager has suggested they know the reason for our continual injuries but the sheer number of these muscle problems in almost every week of the season is something the board of the club have to explain.

  33. Maybe me being an eternal pessimist, but I'd say the jury is still out on Diomande and Cortes. Both shown flashes of what they are capable of, but too early to say either way. In saying that, injury dependant I'd like to see us get Cortes back on loan next season with an option to buy. Same with Sima, but think Brighton will be looking to sell him rather than loan him out again.

  34. Maybe they are immeasurable but after another season of horrendous injuries, overall poor recruitment, players taking weeks to recover from niggles, poor trading model, poor fitness levels etc, we have to change the way do things. It may not result in us winning the league, but not changing the above will certainly mean we'll regress further.

  35. I'm sure that there are a few other Butlands out there. This is the issue we have, we hold on to him for another year or two and due to his age, his value decreases and fans will sat "he should have been sold earlier". If there is a substantial offer on the table for JB (or any of our players) then we simply have to accept it.
