"Celtic are playing like the Harlem Globetrotters" - I suspect they were confusing the basketball entertainers with the reality, the Gallowgate Bogtrotters? "Celtic have invested in their future with Engels whereas Rangers are stuck with the same old faces" - I am sure he will be the third famous Belgian after TinTin and Hercule Poirot. PQ CSC has wound it's neck in reference website articles. The day after their Slovan victory, we were treated to 8(eight) pieces including the effect on the Scottish coefficient and how much money was earned from the game. There are only two articles this afternoon, one of which is a hard hitting critique by Tom Anguish. I thought they may have included Financial Analyst, Kieran Maguire's jottings ie Dortmund have three times the budget of Celtic whereas ra Bhoys have a budget 25 times that of St Johnstone? No, the continuing Sellik fantasy consumes the Gang Hut, there is no sustenance in cold porridge reality. Talking of Tom, the very essence of PQ was on display near the end of Sportsound. The panel was Kenny Macintyre(the Token), Pat Bonner, James McFadden and, Tom English. There had been a fastidious non mention of the last Scottish club to visit Dortmund throughout the show's four and a half hours. It was only three years past but the game was not referenced. The consensus being Brendan's team had been both naive and soft, would he/could he change it? Pat and James opined well rehearsed platitudes then, Tom dropped the R bomb. He compared Rangers 2-4 victory, recited the Dortmund team and, suggested a more practical approach from Brendan. The responses were illuminating. James dismissed the comparison with, "Brendan won't shut up shop and hope for a result" and Pat bullishly replied, "no Celtic supporter would take advice from a Rangers performance". Kenny moved the discussion on to the next game against Atlanta because the Producer/Director guillotined further discussion on that specific topic. A reminder of a Rangers victory was only going to rub salt into collective raw wounds. Pat allowed his mask to slip but, McFadden's retort is preposterous, Rangers parked the bus and got lucky on four occasions? Watch the game again Faddy. Brendan will continue to produce many more Champion League stinking turds and PQ will do Peter's bidding by rolling each and everyone of them in glitter.

I'd just like to reiterate how much I can't stand Cyriel Dessers. A diving fanny and a person who does nothing but make excuses for his poor play. His demeanour, constantly complaining to referees and opposition players (none of whom are listening) whilst play goes on, is utterly pathetic and not becoming of a professional sportsman. He's useless when it counts. We really need to get rid of him.

We should've skelped Malmo about 5-0 a week ago.

Our level is against teams with similar financial clout playing in similar leagues regardless of what European competition they are in. There are teams in the CL we could take.

That was a hard watch. I didn't think any of our players played particularly poorly but their quality in the final third was light years ahead of ours. The referee seemed to constantly favour Lyon. We could've had a penalty for the tug on Dessers' shirt and definitely should've had a free kick for the foul on Diamonde right outside their box. Barron has been an excellent addition but overall our midfield just isn't good enough. Lawrence and Dowell would be nowhere near a good Rangers team.

Agree with this tbh. The 3rd you can write off as pure quality, the rest are definitely avoidable. We can still get something out of this. Get Cerny off though FFS. He's useless.

Chuffed that Hagi is back in the first team squad. Imo he is as talented as, if not more talented than any player at the club at the moment.

The main difference is that team was more than competitive, domestically.

Every single player in that 2007 team (maybe apart from jig) would walk into our current team with absolutely no hesitation. And you've got to remember most of these players retired some years ago. True story, I was there that night and we were sitting in a bar just off the main square when some locals came up and asked us for a score prediction. Me and my mate both played it safe saying we would love a draw but appreciate what a top side Lyon are, my other mate replies with a straight face 3-0 to the Rangers no problem, at which point they locals fell about laughing and we took the beer off him. When the third went in he turned and said, told you, never in doubt!! One of the best smash n grab victories ever, with a Walter tactical masterclass, a huge effort from the players and a lot of luck. No idea what to expect from Lyon tonight, but hope we can raise our game and take something out of it. A win would be sensational, a draw would probably be a good point and keeps us in the top half of the table.

If his year at Arsenal was poor I'd love to know what you thought of Arteta's first 2/3 seasons. Considering how toxic that club was at that time I thought he did well enough. Not even just the fans either, the way he was portrayed and made fun of in the press and media was bordering on xenophobic. I'm a Rangers fan but Birmingham City are the club I follow in this city, even I'm happy that he's proving the fans and media wrong and taking it to the establishment. If you ask me he's been the best manager in England over the last couple of years - relative to what he's doing. Villa were in a relegation scrap ffs.

If I were a club selling Rangers a player, I'd be looking for more cash up front or sell,-on clauses that weren't easy to get out of. They won't play (Michael) Ball ! Will be good to have Hagi available again. Excellent player at the Scottish level.

A tough match tonight but very much looking forward to seeing what we can do against Lyon at Ibrox. Suspect Jefte for Kasan will be the only change from the Malmo win but there is scope for a different attacking midfield if the manager is tempted by a more conservative outlook. I'm not certain Emery will be as successful at a big club. I think he's well-suited to those clubs below the elite, Sevilla, Villarreal, etc. His PSG stint was fine, but not great (he failed to win the league one year, if I'm not mistaken), and his Arsenal stint was poor.

Well done The Villa, cracking goal again from Duran Duran but Martinez had a couple of worldy saves. The other thread about Man Utd's next manager - what would they give to get Uni Emery?? I mentioned A-listers who are Klopp, Pep, Anchelotti and possibly Zidane (although needs to prove himself elsewhere) but Emery cant be far off from being promoted into that bracket.

The shoes are a bit of a disappointment.

If we've got out of paying the fee to Gent, it's good. I'd rather see him in the team than Dowell or Lawrence, although I doubt the manager agrees.
