  1. Yesterday I had the honour and pleasure of attending the event to unveil a new stone on the plot of Rangers great Neilly Gibson at Larkhall Cemetery. Thank so much to all those who attended. The grave had lain unmarked since 1947. Gone but never Forgotten. Neilly Gibson: NEILLY GIBSON joined Rangers when he was still a teenager from junior side Royal Albert and went on to enjoy more than a decade of service with the club. A man who would become a 14-times capped Scotland international, he would go on to win six major honours with the Rangers including four league championships. Defender Gibson was an ever-present in the 1898/99 league campaign when Gers won every one of their 18 matches to win the title by 10 points. Indeed, he scored three times in the two biggest wins that campaign, notching a double in an 8-0 rout of Clyde and scoring from the penalty spot in a 10-0 thrashing of Hibernian. That championship win was the first of four consecutively and in the first three campaigns Gibson missed only three games overall. Playing 377 times overall for Rangers – including in 184 competitive fixtures with 14 goals – he later spent five years in Partick Thistle’s squad. Gibson had three sons – Neil, Willie and James – with all three going on to follow in their father’s footsteps as they played the beautiful game. In James’ case, he emulated his dad by playing for Scotland and also scored once against Wales in 1929, some 32 years after his parent had struck against Northern Ireland. Neilly Gibson (1894-1905) Appearances: 184. Goals: 14. Honours: Four league titles, Two Scottish Cups. 14 caps (Scotland).

  3. The BTC rubbish was in full swing long before SDM sold us to Whyte. Why is it that BDO are seemingly successful here and OldCo failed or never tried? To argue this is because HMRC now agrees that they will possibly not get the full amount anyway is one way of explaining it. But after spending millions to go to the virtually very last possible court they now also accept less money? Did anyone ever attempt a Freedom of Information inquest about how much money HMRC had to pay here? Thing is, the Times would most likely have not burned their fingers with this without some fire behind the smoke. But where their info comes from and how valid it is remains to be seen.

  4. I wonder if Barjonas can make the step up? He looks tidy, and Gerrard seems to be a fan. If we were to lose Kamara, I can see Barjonas taking his role. (Let me pre-empt the Polster fanboy(s): he too could come in, but I think a youth product would be a better option. ) I like the look of Mayo too. I thought he was quite good in the pre-season games.

  5. Because it will be contrary to the well defined rules of sporting integrity?

  6. Scoring in both games against Porto and now for Columbia show continued progression. A hat-trick in the League Cup Final would put the icing on the cake. You tend to think that seriously interested clubs will be looking to beat off other suitors and I'd be surprised if bids didn't come for him in January. As for numbers, this season has taken him into new territory, a more rarefied atmosphere.

  8. I have to say, the name Cooper Knox is terrific. Great to see our youth sides doing so well. They all seem to be playing similar formations and styles, which bodes well for the future.

  9. I don’t give a stuff what the ”national” team does, total disinterest, and they should keep their noses out of club affairs. If this goes ahead, I really hope it backfires on them badly.

  10. What about the players who play outside Scotland? will their clubs release them early?

  11. In the court case the letter of the law didn't matter to the judge it was common sense tax had to be paid. in the court case against Sport Direct it is the letter of the law that counts. Common sense that it was a stitch-up has gone out the window.

  12. I’d always thought HMRC expected to lose the BTC but they won it (in the end). Now we’re seeing oldco liquidators BDO trying to reduce the amount owed and are questioning much of HMRC’s conduct throughout the BTC I suspect they’ll also be asking why Whyte was allowed to avoid paying income tax/NI for almost 6 months

  13. Hopefully come March we will be in sight of the winning post of another title the last thing I would want is a break

  14. Agreed. I’ll never want Celtic to win ANY game. If that’s me hating Scottish football to death then so be it. Were no different to fans of these other clubs.

  15. I'm hoping Barry is wrong on this one on both counts. I'm hoping Morelos will still be with us beyond next Summer and hoping his £30 million estimate is inaccurate in the sense of being an under estimate. Goal scorers draw premium prices and Morelos is scoring prolifically at every level thrown at him. Which is why i'm hoping he stays beyond next Summer to do it in the CL and boost his price tag up into the stratosphere. Contingent on winning the league of course. I see little chance of him staying beyond next Summer if we don't. If get a go at the CL that could be the draw to persuade him to stay just one more year. Anybody getting the feeling that on this form he's destined to score against the yahoos at Hampden?

  17. Why surely it's better with two strong teams from the capital two strong challengers from Dundee a strong Aberdeen to make our league competitive instead of this continuous who's going to finish second

  18. No they don't (I work beside fans of both clubs five days a week). They do, however, expect their teams to be in the top half, with some justification, given their relative size(s). Wanting your team to have a go during a cup semi-final (you're losing) is what any football fan would do.

  19. When feeling understandable reluctance to see some of our star players sold, it's important always to remember there are even better players out there and the only way we can have them at Ibrox is to sell current players to raise the funds.

  20. As an aside, I'd like to reiterate that I don't want individual names and associated allegations being made on here. Yes, there are a number of people who may have played a part in what happened to Rangers over a number of years but, rest assured, if there was proof of nefarious activity then it would be most obvious by now.

  21. The scenario you posted.....If Porto win their 2 games, we beat Feyenoord and lose to YB, will it not come down to goal difference between us, Porto and YB so we could still get knocked out? Would see the table... Porto 10 YB 10 Rangers 10 The tie would be resolved on points won i games between clubs tied (criteria A) Porto 7 YB 6 Rangers 4

  22. Thanks. Given our luck in Europe, that scenario must be worth a bet.

  23. We would be out as the first rule in a 3 way tie is to deduct the points won against the 4th placed team, and in your scenario where we beat the Dutch but lose to YB and Porto win their 2 games we would be left with just 4 points and be eliminated.

  24. if we end up with the same points as Porto AND YB, then we're better than Porto, Porto are better than YB and YB are better than us?
