  1. He was called up about that on the show at the time - the presenter (good for him) basically said "John, isn't a bit rich for you to be saying all this when you kicked a team mate in the head when he was on the ground on his knees". Hartson's defence ? "Was my worst moment in football, it was 25 years ago and I apologized for it". All good then John, you can continue your moral crusade. Hartson is a bellend.

  2. We're only half way there and we have it all to do. But the first half of the season has been better than some maybe recognise. On the face of it, looking at the League table, we have just edged it. We are joint on a goal difference of +42 but we have dropped 1 point less. However, we have dropped 1 point less and have managed an identical goal difference despite playing: 1 less game 3 fewer home games 2 more away games So taking them 1 at a time, what's the significance of those stats? All of the below excludes OF games and assumes current form to date will continue. 1 less game Goal Difference Rangers average GD per game is 2.2, Celtic's is 2.1 so it gives them a 2 goal GD advantage that they have played 1 more game Points Both sides average circa 2.6 points a game so obviously this gives them an advantage of about 3 points 3 fewer homes games Goal Difference Rangers average home GD is +3.43, Celtic's is + 2.9 If we had played 3 extra home games our GD would be 10.3 better off Points Both have a 100% home record so no impact 2 more away games Goal Difference Rangers average away GD is + 1.9, Celtic's is +1.33 If Celtic had played 2 extra away games, their GD would be 2.6 better off Points Rangers average points dropped away from home is 0.4, Celtic's is 0.625 If Celtic had played 2 extra away games they would have dropped 1.25 additional points I know the methodology isn't perfect, but if you add those together you end up with: Rangers 2 points clear Rangers 8 goals clear on goal difference The first half of the league campaign has exceeded everyone's expectations. Let's hope it can be maintained! Big challenge ahead.

  3. He’s in fine fettle & sends his best regards to all the Rangers support, sure this is going to be ‘our’ year. Speaks positively about Stevie Gerrard and the team An absolute gentleman, covered the highs & lows of his Rangers career, Birmingham, Scotland Will be out in a few weeks on 4lads podcast which you can get on all usual platforms I’ll leave you with one quote he told us tonight ‘ ‘The biggest shiver up my spine, it was something I’ve never experienced before, the most amazing feeling when the Rangers fans roared which hasn’t been equalled since’ Alex McLeish on 22nd May 2005

  4. The first couple of league games are of the biggest concern to me. Why ? Because it was at this stage last season that our title challenge flopped. If we come out against St Mirren and Hearts and beat them whilst performing reasonably well then I will take significant encouragement that our 1st half form has continued. The mid-season break didn't do us many favours. If anything it helped Celtic IMO.

  5. Very scientific indeed. For me the only stat that matters is that we just have to keep winning. If we keep winning our games we win the title. That's a fact. Draws are as good as defeats in a tight league race

  7. Not really. Where we actually stand is hat what you’re looking for isn’t currently in the rules. 1st team out In the raw is the home team. Thats where we stand. And no amount of you chatting to Accies fans because you know them so well will change any of that. It’s prevarication, Its a hypothetical suggestion which s hardly worth mentioning, because it isn’t going to happen. And it would be wrong too.

  8. Dear Bearger, Our last League result, at Parkhead, was the perfect way to end the year and meant we moved into the winter break and 2020 with a sharp focus on what can be achieved in the second half of our domestic and European campaigns. Supporter contribution to our remaining games this season will be vital and fans will continue to provide a source of inspiration to the first-team squad and our coaching staff, in particular at Ibrox, where our 50,000 strong support create an atmosphere which is the envy of most other clubs. As always the club is grateful to our 46,000 season-ticket holders but it would be immensely helpful if fans could inform the club when they are unable to attend matches. By doing so, we could pass on these tickets to other supporters, many of whom are on our season-ticket waiting list which currently sits at 15,000. As we enter a potentially defining period for the club, we urge every season-ticket holder to back the team in person at Ibrox Stadium, no matter who the opposition might be. However, we fully understand the demands of modern working practices and family-life commitments must take priority at times so we have relaunched the Seat Sub platform, which offers an easy way to exchange seats when fans cannot make games. Under this scheme the club will return 50% of the ticket price for resold seats to supporters unable to attend matches to be credited against their 2020/21 season ticket. So, if you can’t attend, please use the Seat Sub platform so that another supporter may have the opportunity to attend and help ensure we keep Ibrox roaring for every last minute of this 2020/21 season. If you use the scheme throughout January, you will be entered into a draw to win an exclusive, behind the scenes tour of the Hummel Training Centre. For more information or to release your seat for our games against St Mirren or Ross County, visit rangers.co.uk/seatsub Yours sincerely, Stewart Robertson Steven Gerrard Managing Director Manager

  11. The only table that counts is the one at the end of the season. We've had a lot of false dawns recently.

  12. I’d be mortified if we lowered our ambitions to the level of Shankland.

  13. Not massive news But interest in Tyrese Campbell is extremely high & he’s high on wanted list What that means we will have to wait n see with regards to now or in the summer but just posting anyway As I said not new news as he’s been widely spoken about but it is at least confirmed interest Definitely one to watch

  14. Looks like Wilson has brought a smart new strategy to the club. We used to just let young guys' contracts run down. Now we are selling them for probably next to nothing but it allows us to insert clauses in their contracts just in case they prosper. Houston's contract is up in May so he'd have gone for nothing.

  15. I'm a bit uncomfortable with this C1872 seems too close to the club. We need a fan's organisation that's happy to criticise the club when required, and not just be its mouthpiece when the club's too scared to issue its own statements.

  17. I disagree completely. It's the Scottish Cup, not a think tank for money men. First team out of the hat play at home.

  20. You must have skim-read, I said all stats were not including Old Firm games. The difference in games played home and away was between the rest of the league so to gain a more accurate prediction of how those games would go I didn't include Old Firm games which would skew the stats.

  23. At this stage last season all those stats were significantly worse though and you could flip every one in Celtic’s favour. We had a terrible December. There was little justification for the level of optimism at this stage last season but this season it is backed up by the stats. The absence of Morelos and Tavernier and the threat of future injuries and suspensions in the biggest worry for me. Our starting 11 have been exceptional but we lack a bit of quality on the bench.

  24. Definitely, hopefully nothing will be done until the end of the season. If he keeps scoring domestically and in Europe surely the value can only increase and possibly not just for him.

  27. Is there a fee and sell on involved for Houston? Also, any chance you can expand a bit more about King? I’ve heard he is definitely staying but I trust you will have more reliable info than me.

  29. Suggesting it for cup games between two top flight teams is just as ridiculous. Absolute lunacy. I could ALMOST get behind it for a Junior club playing an OF team, but top flight teams ? Nope, not ever. You aren't talking about Stranraer, youre talking about another team in Scotland's top flight. Fans shouldn't be taken into account in this type of suggestion - the rules of the competition, tradition, and common sense should though. Silly suggestion.

  30. Realistically, neither Barjonas or Murphy has a future at Rangers.

  31. Completely agree. Allowing clubs to change the venue based on their financial desires completely ruins the romance of the cup. Like it or not, Accies should be playing this tie at home, not at Ibrox. Maybe we should just let Accies, St Mirren, Killie etc play all their league games against the OF at Ibrox or Parkhead too - you know, because it would be financially beneficial for them to do so. It's a ridiculous suggestion for a top flight club to give away home field advantage to another top flight club.
