  1. We need to go back to the good old days. A league should be each team playing every team the same number of times home and away. A cup should be straight knock out played over one or two legs.

  2. Initially sceptical, I’m coming round to the idea. While the full 36 team league standings format is a bit mental, the exciting bit is getting to play 8 different opponents once, not just 3 opponents twice. Clearly the luck of the draw is important as you could end up playing Real Madrid & Bayern Munich while a similar ranked team plays Porto & PSV and all points gained are in one table but to qualify for knockout stages you have to finish ahead of only 8 teams. I would imagine we would be seeded in pot 3 so we play 2 pot 3 teams and 2 pot 4 teams, so half our games are against similar standard teams, and if you pick up enough points from those games that should be enough to get a juicy KO game for plenty of Euros in February.

  4. Jock Shaw has already featured in his older days. Here he is again, a callow youth with some of his wee pals, Thornton, Young, Cox, McColl, Rae and Woodburn.

  6. Somebody did a computerised fifteen round fight between Marciano and Ali. A bloodied, outboxed Marciano won by a knockout in the thirteenth.

  7. Almost as tough as Woodburn, scourge of British heavyweight boxers (and all others too) undefeated Heavyweight Champion of the World, Rocky Marciano.

  12. I think they're priming it to help out the big leagues more and to push smaller nations further into the sidelines. Same old shite. One keeps hoping the bubble will burst but there's no indication it'll happen anytime soon. I don't think the CL will be much of a consideration for the Scottish champions in the near future.

  14. League formats suit UEFA, the clubs and the TV companies, so there's absolutely no chance of a return to old formats anytime soon.

  15. Maybe they should consider bringing back the cup winners cup as a simple home and away competition.

  19. Why isn’t it for champions only no second or third or fourth but proper champions the rest can go into the smaller competitions.

  21. Thankfully you posted that mate. Here's what I was told after the Killie game by certain poster 😀 "Bobby Madden is now the bearer of truth? Give me strength."

  22. Our result was a timely wake-up call for the manager and the team. Hearts dragged us out this time, let's hope we do not need a repeat.

  23. He made a mistake playing Raskin yesterday , needs to play Sterling with Lundstam as the midfield two and pick the rest from that . Stating the obvious.

  24. I have a good mate who is a diehard Hibbee and when we meet and the topic of football inevitably crops up, he waxes lyrically about Smith (and rightly so). Mates sadly departed Dad would sit for hours telling him about Smith and the great Hibs (and others) teams of the past. Stories handed down from generation to generation, it's part of what makes football so special, no matter what team you support. Also helps you appreciate players from other eras / teams.

  25. John Rutherford. This Rangers supporting stand off half would have been a brilliant footballer. Could sidestep like Ian McMillan.

  26. If ever there was a confluence of Rangers greatness, it was Jock Wallace in the dugout and John Greig on the park. Frankly, I adored them and in their pomp they pretty much were Rangers.
