Happy new year, everyone. Let's hope it brings some good surprises.

Whose fault is it that they aren't, Walter?
-
Surely that's not the only reason that is stopping us from signing him?

Sounds like many old firm games during NIAR when we won, after defending for most of the game. I always put that down to good tactics and good defending.
-
And it was you who said It was that quote I was relpying to. I wouldn't disagree that Miller deserves criticism along with most of the team.
-
If he had scored then yes, he would have been OK. It's a bit like Broadfoot. If he hadn't let McDonald turn him then he would have had a good game. Boyd did get some half chances in the first half that he did nothing with. McDonald had a half chance that he went on and did something with. That was the difference on the day. As for the long balls issue, we seem to have been doing that for weeks. Totally crazy. MF, I don't think anyone has said that Boyd is to blame. It's just an analysis of one player's performance in the same way as you raised the issue of Miller.
-
Surely it's the guy who picks Adam that deserves the abuse? Adam hasn't played a first team game in weeks then gets thrown into an old firm game. Hardly fair on him.
-
Weird thing is that I couldn't see any police beside me. There are absolutely none in the area where I sit.

Boyd was pish today and apart from winning a couple of headers, contributed nothing. His first "big" game and he he failed (along with many others). Perhaps Burley was right after all? There seems to be a level that he can play against, but he doesn't perform if up against a better team. Miller doesn't look fit. Is he still struggling with his injury as he's not moving around the same way as he was before it?
-
They removed the TBO's brilliant "O'ffended Bus" banner as it "drove" across the Govan Stand, but allowed a similar one in the Broomloan Road stand and did nothing to prevent 2 IRA related banners appearing in their end both before the game and at half time (and not for the first time). Only in today's Scotland do you get such uneven policing.
-
He's by far and away our best centre half.
-
I got told he was seen driving away from the ground with a police escort around 30 mins before the game started. Don't know what that means, but it would seem not to be promising.

Rangers fans' fury after 'hun' jibe on Rab C Nesbitt comeback show
Bluedell replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Correct. Either that or t***. I don't see it as the equivalent of tim. -
Merry Christmas to all.

What Celtic players have had their cars vandalised?
-
Smith only. Burley is just a tool in their campaign. Guess we'll need to agree to disagree on this one.
-
craig, got to say that Burley's selections don't actually interest me that much, and to a certain extent I'm playing devil's advocate. However I still believe that Boyd was wrong in what he did, as he wasn't playing that well at the time and wasn't in a position to "demand" that he should be in the team. There is a big agenda against Burley in the media because it was Gordon Smith that appointed him, but that's another matter.....
-
Craig, you could use the same argument for JCD's inclusion at Rangers. His performances had been dire but Smith still picked him on occasion in front of Boyd. Boyd never even made the bench for the Celtic game IIRC. Horses for courses, as was shown by the team selection for Hibs away, where a more mobile forward was required. Perhaps Burley was taking the same approach? Perhaps Boyd was not performing at training as has already been suggested? Boyd's performances subsequent to this episode have dramatically improved (which hopefully nobody can disagree with) but they weren't that hot prior to it. I do know of personal issues that he was having round about then. Perhaps they were affecting him? Would I have gone for Boyd? Probably, but it could be that we don't know all the mitigating factors. I should add that I'm not aware of what statement by Burley you are referring to. His justification in not playing Boyd didn't seem unreasonable:
-
I'm sure that the cash from the charity War on Want was only "resting in his account".
-
I believe that we had played 11 games at the time when Boyd made his decision. Smith didn't see fit to play him in the 3 biggest (the Euro games and Celtic) and also dropped him for Hibs away. That's hardly complete faith, and was following on from the previous season when Boyd was again dropped for most of the big games. Your assertion doesn't stand up to the facts at that point IMO.
-
I don't see what Burley did wrong. He didn't play Boyd, but this was during a period when his club manager showed no confidence in him either and dropped him for every big game. It seems to me that Boyd took part of his frustration with Smith out on Burley. Boyd was the one who went away in a huff and he has to be the one who takes the blame for this situation.
-
But he wasn't playing for his country before either.

When are the tickets out for this game? I can't remember if I've got tickets for it, but will give you a shout if I have them. Face value only, of course.
