  1. My award for the metaphor of the year. Brilliant!
  2. So none on ESPN? Not all of us have a sky dish! No point in subscribing to Freeview then.
  3. The OF game on Sunday is not scheduled to be on ESPN! We used to moan about Setanta but at least they always showed all the OF clashes.
  4. It' s the same with any competition, any league. If Man U. can't win in normal time they are generally given up to six minutes to do so. How often does that happen?
  5. During the 9IAR era, I seem to remember Paul Gascoigne saying that Rangers were expected to win the game in the first 45, something he'd never experienced in his career. He made this in response to English journalists who seemed to think that joining Rangers was an easy option. As he said, that was some pressure to play under. I know what you're going to say, that we don't have players of that quality now. Nonetheless, we do have Mendes and Davis, experienced EPL players and surely better than anything Killie have in their respective positions. But we fail to put these teams to the sword. Must be mental problem. Don't we have these fancy sports psychologists at Ibrox?
  6. A very good point. When we had the likes of Laudrup and Gascoigne we under-achieved big-time, much more proportionally than now. I also remember a bad defeat by AEK Athens. Not quite sure what all this proves though. Was Europe not important to us then?
  7. Given that Seville will probably beat the other teams home and away (even Stuttgart) our best chance of finishing second is to get one more point off them than Stuttgart. So even a home draw would be good, then we can play our famous 5-4-1 backs-to-the-wall anti-football in Seville and see what happens. The really crucial game will be home to Stuttgart (remember Lyon).
  8. Would have mixed feelings about this. While I would love to see WS in charge of Scotland, I scratch my head wondering who would succeed him here. Just don't see Ally as the main man.
  9. This our worst nightmare. It was inevitable DW would miss some big games. And we failed to buy a CB; actually we need to buy 2 centre halves for next season, cause Boogie will be for the off. In the meantime hang your hats on Big Mac and rookie Wilson.
  10. Classic! The only reason for this is that the SFA don't want to pay compensation. No other reason makes sense, certainly not any footballing ones.
  11. It sounds great. Playing two holding players seems to be the modern way. in our case there's good balance with Edu being right-footed and Thomson left. Plus neither of them are any slouches going forward. Only thing I would like to see is a place for Fleck, but who does he replace?
  12. Your last paragraph is certainly food for thought. I see Walter is being touted by some in the media for areturn to Scotland. If it came down to a choice between Burley staying or being replaced by WS I'm afraid I would opt for Burley remaining, despite my desire to see Boyd restored. My reasoning? I think Rangers would struggle to find a suitable replacement. Then again, WS is unlikely to take the Scots job till the end of the season. If I be allowed to dream a little, maybe we could eventually tempt wee Dick back? After all, he's said that Rangers are like part of his family or words to that effect. All in all a depressing state of affairs this morning. One crumb, though; the performances of Whittaker and Naismith bode well for our CL prospects.
  13. There's a lot of us would like Souness and I don't need to elaborate why but just consider this: he did very little after leaving Rangers, made some terrible signings and his abrasive style means we could have even fewer players to choose from! on the other hand, he's maybe mellowed. I for one think he and Gary Mac might be worth a punt.
  14. That's the key for me. I can see where Fraser's coming from - we badly need continuity and starting from scratch isn't always a good idea - but when there's limited choice we need ALL our players available. There's something adrift when certain players won't play for Burley. Boyd we need, Fergie is maybe past his sell-by and McGregor is still the best choice for back-up in my view. The only way to get all our players available is to change the manager; I cannot see Boyd having a change of heart at the moment and that saddens me. Saying that, his attitude was immature; surely Burley would have seen the error of his ways and brought him back if he had been amenable; we'll never know, but if a new manager cannot get people onside then we're rally sunk.
  15. Love to know where you got these from. I amble around tartanarmy. net from time to time, and I assure you there are a good many Rangers fans who give as good as they get. However, those comments are shocking - no true Scotsman would subscribe to them.
  16. Agree with all of that except I fear that should we get through, there will be pressure to keep Burley/Butcher. Mind you there is a precedent - Burley was sacked when top of the league with Hearts.
  17. No the sleeve up Burley's a*ce.
  18. But has Nacho a UK passport? I love the wee man to death but he's not even British never mind Scottish, so it's not a fair comparison.
  19. He did apparently express interest when he was with Coventry. However, he's not Scottish and should not be considered no matter how good he may be. I don't want another Matt Elliott who would rather walk his dog than support us when he was out of the team. Whittaker is much better even when out of position on the left and we also have Dixon, Wallace and even Mulgrew who should be considered before him. Only exception to the granny rule I can see is Alexander who has always been proud to play for us - shame he's crap.
  20. Yip - if only George Burnley (deliberate mis-spelling) can see it!
  21. Loved the NI commentator saying "Lafferty of Rangers has put it past Boruc of Celtic" or something like that. But seriously Davis and Lafferty were superb in that atmosphere. Bodes well for us. I now think that Laff and Miller could be a first choice partnership - and I'm a Boyd fan.
  22. And that's the problem - we really need TWO C.B's Because for sure, Boogie's off next season.
  23. I don't know if anyone saw Mowbray on ESPN after the game. He was invited to look at the TV evidence and his response? "I don't need to, it was right in front of me." Reminded me of Lord Nelson: "Ships? I see no ships" said he, turning his blind eye to the telescope. Fair play to Craig Burley though - he virtually called McGreedy a cheat, despite his C****c affiliations. Whereas Colin Hendry said "I wouldn't go as far as to say cheat." Well I would, Colin. And as for Killen - he could enter the Olympics, and I'm not talking football here.
  24. I hope you've not damaged your wrist looking at that avatar!
  25. It does look as though this is the sort of group where teams can take points off each other, and it may well come down to who can take the most points off Unirea. Even Seville I don't think are invincible; remember if it had been Barca or the English sides we would not be expecting to take a point - home or away.
