  1. ^ You yourself have mentioned Herenveen as a role model for us and there's no doubt for me this is the way forward for RFC. It's either about finding promising young talent and selling them on when the time is right, or we have to be content with 30+ signings looking for a last payday - and I for one don't want see Ibrox become an elephant's graveyard. Disagree about Weir and Dailly though - they're just there as squad players. Don't see why Aaron Ramsey is outwith our reach though - we could probably guarantee him first team football which is something he might not see at Arsenal for years. Walcott flits in and out and his club still get linked with big name players.
  2. Agree, it is a strange one. If SS was back to anything like the form he showed pre-injury, then with him and Papac we'd be sorted at LB.Hate to say this, but it's beginning to sound like WS has his favourites regardless of ability and if you displease him, you're out in the cold. Look at Gow and Buffel for further evidence. And if you say Gow and Buffel were out because of their lack of ability, then no one can say that about Smith.
  3. Fulham want £4m. If we can't offload Cousin I'm not sure we'll go the extra mile for him TBH. And if we don't, who else does WS have lined up for a creative midfielder?
  4. Is that 'schholboy' - or someone who wears a special kind of footwear?
  5. Just realised, never actually introduced myself - or been introduced, though been here a few months. Domiciled in deepest England. Explanation of my user name: Alex Scott was the first Rangers player I ever saw. Much under-rated. Speed merchant. That gives my age away, too.Was about 7 at the time.
  6. It's not an 'either/or' for me with Lafferty/Emnes (and maybe Emnes isn't the ultimate answer anyway); it's more that the right side of our attacking midfield looks mighty threadbare at the moment, and I've been racking my brains to see who could possibly plug that gap. Just happens that Emnes' name came up because of the 'Boro link. A Lafferty-type on the right would probably be ideal!
  7. [ Personally I think it is a win-win situation. Especially if you consider that I think it was PLG who signed him on a pre-contract?
  8. See what I mean? We COULD have had him if we had shown just a smidgeon of ambition.
  9. That link doesn't work for me. tried it twice.
  10. [quote name=Gribz Maloney would be a good signing but he is more of a left sided player is he not? We have them in abundance for a change, although Id take Maloney over Adam anyday.[/quote] See, this is what puzzles me. We have so many left-footers at Ibrox now (not a sectarian comment) that I reckon when the plane takes off for the CL qualifier, it'll be tilting to the left. Beasley, Adam,Thomson, Fleck,McCulloch (right-footed but plays on left),Lafferty,Naismith(mostly) - and I'm sure I've missed somebody obvious out. While on the right...Novo who's not really a winger and (ahem) Burke, who once promised to be Willie Henderson but is now more like Martin Henderson (who? Exactly.) Davis could play there, but we all know he's more comfortable in CM. The only other option is I believe Beasley, who could cut in on his left foot. But after that I'm struggling.
  11. Thanks. Knew it couldn't be Billy J. Kramer.
  12. Are we not seeded at the third stage? If not could we get Liverpool or Arsenal?
  13. Sorry to be naive or whatever, but what exactly was the offence? Is there something wrong with initials plus a number? If you cannot say, can you give me a clue?
  14. Can 'our man in Holland' shed any light on this Sparta Rotterdam player whom Middlesborough are apparently interested in? Thing is, he's a winger and if he is a right winger, could he do a job for us? Can't think Boro will want him as a left winger because they've got Downing. The fee is not too high - £2.5 million.
  15. He should 'waltz' straight back in because he's the best, simple as that. It's not a question of Alex. having done anything wrong and I believe he would understand that. Comparisons with Klos aren't the same because AM hadn't really proved himself then and I think we had Klos and Waterreus at the time. It's the same with every other keeper at every other big club cf Cudicini at Chelsea, Kusczak at Manure etc....
  16. Yeh, I know but so were Partizan and they were drawn away
  17. No, won't be easy. But why do we keep getting drawn at home? I know we did all right last season but IMO being drawn at home first is a big disadvantage.
  18. Sorry - must strongly disagree. Alexander was signed as a no. 2 and was happy to do so. Granted, he did a great job as back-up but did have dodgy moments, especially when dealing with crosses. He couldn't have pulled off the saves AM did v Werder Bremen.
  19. Yep, remember it..SIR Alastair Burnet! Classic! Robert Carlisle was brought up in Maryhill and also claims to be a Thistle fan.
  20. Trying to think of other 'celeb' fans. Hugh Grant claimed to be one before the eufa final and claimed he wanted a ticket. Dunno how much truth there is in that though. Sean Connery is a buddy of SDM but don't think we can claim him as one of our own.
  21. 'scuse my ignorance - who is she? And is that really a Gers scarf?
  22. Thus spake the silver-tongued sage of Singapore! Poor old Boydy - he now has to create his own chances as well as finish them. Who'd be a striker? Never mind, Ross Mccormack is trying to get him to join Cardiff.
