I dont see the difference between an "independant" C1872 appointee or one of the C1872 board who attends on behalf of C1872 - they are still not going to be able to report back to the membership what was said. In some cases they may not even be allowed to report back to the C1872 board, although I would hope that would never become an issue. A C1872 rep on the main club board can only be a good thing if the C1872 board has enough good board members who are not there for the blazers but there to genuinely represent the members and are not afraid to hold the club board to account for answers to the questions the membership are deeply concerned about. The issue then becomes how to gain enough trust from the membership to the C1872 board that they are doing this and getting something done when there is a cloak of confidentiality thrown about everywhere. It is a very difficult situation to try to get absolutely right. I would add that it seems clear that C1872 is somewhat "owned" by the club at the moment via the Club Secretary being also allowed to remain on the C1872 board, which I hope is rectified at the next election. It is clear his first priority is to the club, which is fine, but his placement on C1872 is there to keep them in check, which is far from acceptable IMO.

I thought I had heard that somewhere but wasn't sure if it was live yet. Thanks FS. -
Walter Smith reflects on the 3-0 win over Lyon
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Far and away the best thing about the recent OF game was the match day programme which included 16 pages dedicated to our fantastic win a decade ago. Interviews with Beasley, Jig, Walter, KT all giving their insight on the game, the tactics, what they were thinking etc Not sure if you can buy them online or a web edition of it, but I would thoroughly recommend it. -
I was on the same flight as the players down to London this morning (went to Wembley for NFL match) and I was surprised to see Miller in players track suits when we were led to believe he was going as part of his coaching duties. The coaches and support staff all wear different colour trackies from the players, quite smart they look too! Pleased to say everyone was well behaved and a credit to the club, as you would expect. Seen them all at Heathrow for the flight back up but they were on the flight before me. Obviously Miller has been sent as punishment for something and nothing to do with coaching role. He sat in the row behind me and mixed fairly well with the other players both at the airport and on board.

Delighted to tough out a good win on a terrible pitch, more so given the terrible start. After a really bad OF defeat, you want to see a reaction from the players and after a minute we are standing there thinking that was not the reaction we had in mind! Thankfully there was no panic and we got ourselves back into the game with a great piece of play from John, and 3 goals in under 10 mins made the game safe despite yet another dreadful refereeing performance. Is this mandatory from referees to err against Rangers in every match? We can now hopefully let the players and coaches regroup over the next two weeks before a really tough Friday night trip to Perth that will be a much harder task than struggling Accies. I was speaking to an Accies player on Thursday night who thought they had little to no chance as they are not doing well just now and he was trying to dissuade a tim from lumping on Accies at 8/1. I hope said mhanky got his bet on! I hate these Friday night games (not as much as an international break!) as it leaves a huge hole in the weekend but it is so much sweeter with a good solid win under the belt. So enjoy the weekend Bears, ignore the papers and Scottish broadcasters on tv, and we go again in a fortnight.

Nothing about Miller in there. I half expected, if the stories are true about him being exiled, to read about him being a doubt with a niggle. Time will tell. Hopefully Alves can come back in as well as John, who looks worth a run in Wallace's absence. That should improve the defence, and another game further down the line for Pena should see him continue his improvement in form and hopefully he can last 75 mins or so as he builds up to full participation. Just get us a win tonight Bears or it is going to be a veeerrrrrryyyyyy long fortnight until the next game!

Miller banished from first team according to DR
Tannochsidebear replied to forlanssister's topic in Rangers Chat
On first hearing of this story my initial reaction was that it must be nonsense, as Miller has always been a model pro, well regarded by teammates and coaches, and to think of him having a bust-up with any player or manager just doesnt ring true to me. It is well documented what I think of him as a player, but I regard him highly as a professional. The one thing that gives this some credibility is that it is Jackson reporting it, all from Miller's angle. Miller is well known to be a leak and Jackson has often been his journo of choice. The beauty of this is that we will know over the weekend if this has any substance or not when we firstly hear the 18 man team for tonight, and then get the reports from the U20's trip to London. If Miller is not included in the 18, and then is snapped with the youths in London, then we can then, and only then, give this some credibility. -
While some are arguing my choice of adjective (nobody seems to have a problem with me calling Delia an idiot, which was my point that we have appointed a similar stature of manager), at least we can all admit (or nobody is arguing against at least) that this was a terrible appointment. We are not going to close the gap until we get in a proper manager that is a good fit for our club. I havent a clue who that is, but I know who it isn't. I really like listening to Pedro, he talks a good game and is very passionate, but all of what he says does not transform onto our performances on the pitch. We play without passion, fight and desire, while you see Pedro going nuts and putting everything into it on the sidelines. Why do his players ignore his instructions? Why do his players give up at the slightest setback? Why was Pedro the only one to challenge Brown in 90 mins yesterday? It looks like a complete lack of belief from the players, most of whom he signed, in what he is trying to tell them, how he is wanting them to play. Our board bought into what Pedro told them he could do. They backed him with cash we havent spent in one window for probably about a decade. He got all his first picks and he got them all in very early at the beginning of June onwards. Now at the end of September, nearly 4 months from the first batch of these players signing and about 14/15 weeks since we went back for pre-season training, we are still hearing some are unfit or not settled in yet. To give them time to bed in a new team. Pedro says we will play a high pressing game. We dont. Pedro says we will be fast through the transitions. We aren't. There is a lot to like about Pedro the man. There is not much to like about Pedro the Rangers manager. The whole point about bringing him in in March was to get him time to start the rebuild so he could hit the ground running this season. A very early Euro tie (and subsequent exit) meant he had a lot of pre-season time to get his team and new recruits gelling to hit the ground running. There simply is no argument for saying this team needs more time to get it right. We have won only 3 of our opening 7 league games. We have won only 1 of our opening 4 home league games. We currently sit 5th, having dropped 10 points out of 21 already. We were humiliated in Europe, the Progres result being the single worst result in our history. We have won only 4 of 10 home league games since Pedro took over. This squad is more than good enough to be comfortably second in this league. The main reason it is not must come down to the manager.

I really hope so, and taken one game at a time there is no reason we can't. Remember the same gap in budgets and class we are moaning about today, we have to our advantage over everyone else. We just need to believe it!

I thought we competed well in the first half. Typical cheating from CT denied us a pen and the chance to play against at least 3 of their side on an early yellow card, with a lead to hold on to. I would have loved to see how both teams played if we got the opener. I don't know what Pedro says at half time but we just didn't come out to play in the second half, losing the vital opening goal to sloppy play, then weakening the side with the wrong first sub. We can't just compete for 45 mins every week. When the second goal went in (looked like poor goalkeeping again but I was at the other end?) we just completely chucked it. To have inferior players and lose the game is one thing, to totally capitulate and not lay a glove on them in the last half hour was what really annoyed me. We let them cruise through the rest of the game and only poor choices and poor finishing avoided this becoming a re-run of the last Ibrox OF game. The manager must take the blame for our lack of belief and fight when we go behind, it's happening far too often. 10 points dropped after only 7 games, only one home league win in 4 attempts, 8 points behind already. At what point do we say enough? 15 behind after playing everyone once? 3 tough away games (Ham,St J, Hearts) in next 4 now that the Dolly game is postponed. Or do we judge by how many we are behind Dolly and forget about the scum altogether? That might be fairer on Pedro but given we have vastly outspent everyone else in the league we really don't want to fall any further behind them either. As a footnote, and to try to find some positivity, every time I see this Celtic side I am less and less impressed with them. If we had spent about £40M on a squad and only had that to show for it, I would be quite upset. Team of physical brutes with very little creative talent. I hear Roberts got MOTM, I thought he was garbage and was hooked because Rodgers agreed! £2M loan fee just to borrow him for a year is terrible business. Easy win for Anderlecht coming up I think! If only we could get our act together we won't need to outspend them to catch and overtake them.

Apart from the last sentence I disagree with everything Boydy says here. This could have been written by Spiers it's so bad.

The race to the bottom between Pedro and Ally is not one any Bear wants to discuss! I fail to see what a degree in sports science has to do with being manager of Rangers. I know a lot of really thick people with degrees and a lot of clever people without a higher. If we win today it doesn't change a thing long term, but it would be absolutely fantastic. If Pedro comes up with some tactical master stroke to change and win the game then I will give him a lot of credit but we all know he can't do that.

These injuries make parking the bus a much more attractive option, strength in numbers and all that. We will still get some chances on the break and at set pieces, we just need everything to fall our way, which we are certainly due to happen for us for a change.

League Cup Semi-Final Draw - Rangers v Motherwell
Tannochsidebear replied to Scott7's topic in Rangers Chat
What? That is disgusting if that is happening and should be stopped immediately. It reminds me of the time around '89 where we were at Tannadice where a win secured the title and some English accented guys had some tickets which were like gold dust and were trying to sell them at about 4 times face value. Some very large bear took exception to this and went up, smacked him in the mouth, and handed out the tickets to the Bears surrounding him for free. Never seen touts again at a Rangers game! -
Why is it every time I see a thread title like this I sigh and hope it's not going to be too embarrassing? I just hope they drop that dreadful song for the tanned Rob Kiernan, cringeworthy, as is the Windass song, and was the Halliday song. It seems Ub only come up with new stupid songs for our worst players. Give me Every Other Saturday, Follow Follow, Blue Sea of Ibrox, Wolverhampton Town, The Sash (unedited), on repeat for 90 mins and let us all join in.

It must be a reward for giving UEFA all that money in fines over the last couple of years. Seriously, our fans groups, or just even individual fans with time and a suitable skill set, should be sending a dossier to whoever is responsible for this outlining their despicable behaviour in recent years, and the clear backing of terrorist organisations worldwide, and force an embarrassing climb down.

Been busy with other things mate! I must do better!

Respect is earned, not inherited by means of your pal getting you a job. Rangers 1 Celtic 5, Progres 2 Rangers 0. I am happy to stand by my post, the worst manager in our history that has overseen the worst results in our history. If the language is too colourful for some of my fellow bears, then change the adjective, but the end result will be the same. None of this gives me any pleasure, of course I want every Rangers manager to succeed, and the team gets my full support every single match, but I'm allowed my point of view on here surely? The vast majority of Bears I speak to at the games and elsewhere agree he was a terrible appointment made for all the wrong reasons by the wrong people.

League Cup Semi-Final Draw - Rangers v Motherwell
Tannochsidebear replied to Scott7's topic in Rangers Chat
I may take Motherwell to beat Hibs if they were playing each other, but we know fine well that a Hibs performance against us is not the same as a Hibs performance against Motherwell. Therefore I am much happier playing Motherwell than Hibs. The recent ibrox game being a good case in point. Hibs havent won a league game since in 4 attempts. -
Compliance Officer to Charge Sinclair? Probably Not
Tannochsidebear replied to StuGers's topic in Rangers Chat
I did such a list back in 2009 or 2010. Within two months of the season there was about a 10 point swing to them on referee decisions that directly affected results, plus many others that didnt directly affect the outcome but went their way, like red cards for their opponents that were later rescinded or shown to be wrong, offside goals going their way etc. We still won the league that year! -
I knew you would come round! When Miller had pace (ie his second spell with us) I would happily support him being given the lone striker role as he had the pace to annoy the defenders and exploit them on the counter attack. His pace has long gone and that was always his biggest strength.
-
He has the right to be a bit arrogant having won the treble last year, undefeated domestically since he arrived, took over from a complete idiot, his only rival have appointed an equally ridiculous idiot for a manager. It doesnt get any easier than that. However arrogance has a nasty habit of becoming complacency, and complacency has a nasty habit of getting its comeuppance, hopefully tomorrow followed by another humping in Belgium next midweek.

League Cup Semi-Final Draw - Rangers v Motherwell
Tannochsidebear replied to Scott7's topic in Rangers Chat
Couldnt have asked for a better draw. Motherwell, while a decent side, are clearly the weakest of the remaining clubs, and also the nicest fans so instead of a hate-filled, tense semi final, we have a proper football match and leave all the sectarian stuff to the other semi, where are least one set of disgusting, hate-driven, sectarian, scumbags will be eliminated. This will also mean our scheduled home game against Dolly will be moved to a midweek slot instead of a Saturday lunchtime game. Shame that for the 800 or so travelling fans! -
If McCrorie is being lined up to play, it shows how far down the pecking order (rightfully in my opinion) Danny Wilson has fallen. Must be time to offload in January. Unless I have missed something and Wilson is injured?
