  1. So, you see a house you really want to buy in your ideal location. It needs a lot of work and was bought for just £5k at auction by a bunch of shady types who tried to paint over the cracks, but did a botched job. You know they want £50k for it, but that you'll need to spend almost the same again to return it to its former glory. The vendors are holding out for the full price, but you know that they don't want to live there themselves, that they don't want their money tied up in the place forever and that there is no other interest in the place. What would you do Rab, just pay up because you can afford to? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I'm wide awake thanks. I guarantee that the hedge funds will have moved on by then. Our prospects will depend on who owns us long term and how much damage we take in the interim. Being realistic is one thing, being defeatist is something else entirely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Happy to clear that up. It was Rangersitis who said that, not me... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Nothing in my post gave any indication that I would accept a lowering of expectations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm sorry Hildy, but while many of your points are valid, the general tone of fatalistic defeatism doesn't sit well with me. I think you need to read some quotes from Mr Struth and try to fall back into love with the Club again...because it needs us now more than it did in the good times. It will be a long hard road, but I believe that we'll get back where we belong in 4-5 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Spot on. I'd be happy if we could move on Perry, Simonsen and at least one of Hutton or Peralta. A genuine finisher like Boyd and a creative no.10 would put us in pretty decent shape. Even better if McKay could come back and give Aird and Templeton some real competition. We wouldn't even need the 10 if Dean Shiels actually played to his full potential. 7. That was always my concern about Dave King's ST trust - the supporters' collective holding in the club will end up diluted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. That's more like it. Frustratingly slow progress, but much better than total radio silence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I look forward to hearing how many members he signs up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Was badly missed in the 2nd half of last season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Looks good. Might print "Obama" on the back of mine after today... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Who's going to be first to suggest to our Chairman that he pays for the bus to take the team to away grounds? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. In the first paragraph, yes, but he's talking about a wider disengagement with the Club at the end of the post. Listen, I'm not saying that on its own online abuse is causing large numbers of supporters to stop attending games, but I think it contributes to some people falling out of love with the Club and we need to address it. 14. My view is simple; "The Rangers Standard" should be self policing. A code of conduct asking for a modicum of respect to be shown towards fellow supporters is neither a distraction, nor a threat to freedom of expression. Appropriate and consistent forum moderation, plus more blocking on Twitter would certainly help, but I simply don't see the problem with an initiative which gets different groups involved in agreeing the principles Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Agree with your bigger point about the Club, but it's neither a distraction nor futile to try and do something about unacceptable supporter behaviour now. If the collective response by Rangers fans to online abuse, is to tolerate it, then we are all lessened by it. On several occasions, I've been so saddened at the way fellow bears have behaved, that I've challenged them about it. I've never been abused back (yet) and in some cases, a more productive debate followed. I fail to see how a few short meetings and some work for a handful of people to produce guidance on what is acceptable is a distraction, when the infighting is turning some supporters off the Club altogether. 16. There are many things on and off the park we need to spend scarce cash on, but another experienced keeper isn't one of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I've replied too. We could have a representative sample of Gersnet in attendance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Facilitating these types of session well requires a fairly rare combination of skills, so I doubt there's anyone in house who could do it justice. An external researcher should also help avoid various types of bias in the process and the costs won't amount to more than a couple of weeks wages for a first team player. Properly designed and executed research is rarely a waste of time or money in my experience. Any shortcomings usually lie with those unwilling to hear the answers, or lacking the vision to know what best to do in response. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Post Christmas we really missed McLeod & Templeton. With them back in the side and a real footballing challenge to face for the first time in a couple of years, I think you'll see better quality football, but more dropped points. I'm sure we could win the league with the squad as it stands, albeit a mobile and skilful centre forward and a centre half with a bit more pace and poise would be welcome. Might need to wait for Santa to get them though. Rangers by a 12 point margin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried." Churchill. RangersFirst now have 10000+ followers on Twitter with 1000+ donating regularly. I see people who can't agree on anything else around the politics of Rangers uniting around fan ownership, so I do believe it can happen and we can make it work. We need BuyRangers and RangersFirst to work together; we need a few individual fans to take a step back from the limelight for the greater good of the Club and we need a properly co-ordinated and high profile launch to take the fan ownership agenda beyond social media. If we can get that then it's game on IMO. Quite frankly, I'm fed up waiting for Murray, McColl, King or any of the other high net worth fans, to step up and pay. If they want to invest, then great, but the fans need to have a significant stake and a significant say in the future of the Club regardless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. If McCoist is really as poor a manager as some seem to think, then next season he'll fail to get past the first serious league opposition he's had to face on our journey back to the Premiership and that will be the end of him. However, I think he'll win the league and keep his job for at least one crack at Celtic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Can't agree about Hibs being favourites for next season's Championship. I don't see them splashing the cash and even with 10 players out of contract in the summer, much of what they do spend will have to go on compensation to the other underachievers in the squad they need to move on. If and when they do recruit better players, they'll still need time to gel as a team. I think Hearts will be our closest challengers by a distance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. He resigned mate. Time for everyone to move on and see the bigger picture. Until the ordinary fans have a real say in the running of the Club through a substantial shareholding, we'll always be at the mercy of others with different priorities. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
