  1. great read! although he does seem alot more complementary of Gers eg Walter and Whittaker. When the guy is that open about his opinions, its hard to grudge him giving harsh ratings on naismith who had to play in centre mid... great to see someone finally say what we all know about this celtic team.
  2. Well you have to laugh don't you! Got to be able to take it if you're going to give it!
  3. you should see his green and black hooped one! :fish:
  4. Sunderland all of a sudden are not as shit a team as i thought they were...
  5. good stats, shame the game against newcastle is void... So the epl win?
  6. he is pish. but he's the kind of c*nt that would score in an OF game which he gets away with murder... dirty scrotum of a player
  7. You're kidding?! I listened to the pompey commentary on radio quay. They had nothing but praise for the travelling bears and the atmosphere they created! even saying would have been better if there hadn't been a roof - cos we were too loud! And thats what they come away with? People will only see what they want to see. sadly when this is the case in the media it is alot more dangerous...
  8. Assuming Arsenal beat the tims, and Lyon beat Anderlecht... TOP SEEDS FC Barcelona Liverpool Chelsea Manchester United AC Milan Arsenal Sevilla Bayern M¼nchen SECOND SEEDS Olympique Lyon Internazionale Real Madrid CSKA Moscow FC Porto AZ Alkmaar Juventus The Rangers
  9. Yup, you are sort of right. Craig is spot on too Basically, the teams that are yet to qualify that are seeded above us are Arsenal, Lyon, Sporting and Panathinaikos. All the teams that they are playing are seeded below us, hence if they were to get knocked out, we would move up a place. After Shaktar Donetsk getting knocked out in the last round, we are now ranked 18th, with the 16th seed getting the final spot in pot 2. Therefore we need 2 from Athletico Madrid, Fiorentina, Anderlecht and Celtic to go through. Chances are Madrid and Fiorentina will win. Tims have no chance. but even if they do, will only help our chances!
  10. Fantastic! Also pot 2 is looking good! in with juve, inter and real where we belong (lol)
  11. So how does that work? Had a wee glance and only saw live betting. Nothing about live coverage... Do you need to have an account or something?
  12. wondered what went wrong 2night, now i know who jinxed it! Not great, but it means that some of the stronger teams stay unseeded, and can see them going out that way! Still, would be nice if shaktar john the tims in the europa league qualifiers!
  13. to be fair, the only changes Smith made yesterday were attacking (changed all the forwards and 2 of the midfielders) and to me, they actually IMPROVED the performance!
  14. But not the best way to display it... i just think the club should do their best to avoid any type of sectarian connetations (sp) and although the back ground is more a result of historic traditions, being singled out as prodies vs catholics doesn't do us any good. especially if we are to try and move to a league that won't hinder us like the SPL. I know it was done in innocence, but our "sectarian image" portrayed by some in the media will never go as long as you have these preconceptions from further afield. maybe its just me?
  15. That makes alot more sense... Never too sure if its a good thing knowing the truth... cos if we know it, the opposition know it too! Hopefully the kick up the arse he needs, if he did infact need it. That said, it is the news of the world so take with not a mere pinch, but a chippies dose of salt!
  16. was waiting for someone to make that joke. I resisted... obviously you could not... :fish: Can't see us getting rid of boogie. not with the prospect of getting an extra £2.6 mil of CL TV money. We're thin enough as it is in defence!
  17. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/emirates-cup-find-out-more-about...-rangers First off, the squad is rather out dated... smith? webster? and some of the posessions are a little questionable... (perhaps they spoke to smith first?!) but its the quote at the bottom; fact 10 of 10: Honestly, thats shocking!
  18. You for real? or was that just a bad attempt at a joke
  19. Though after next wed that may not be the case! Pana are ranked above us and lost their first game 3-1 (albeit away from home), while Sporting drew 0-0 at home to Twente - a good dutch side capable of winning at home, and the third team ranked above us are shaktar donesk who drew 2-2 at home! If all three teams were to fail to qualify for the group stages, we would become the 16th ranked team, resulting in being classed as second seeds avoiding such teams as Juve, Real and Inter! (ok so you lose the glamour but more realistic chance of qualification!) Also Arsenal and Lyon make it 5 teams ranked above us that can get knocked out moving us up the table. So if 3 of those 5 fail to qualify for group stages, we're in with the big boys! And looking at some of the teams that arsenal and lyon could play at the mo it wouldn't be too easy with teams like stuttgart, fiorentina and athletico madrid! (i better stop all this coefficient chat... can anyone guess what my undergrad degree was in?! )
  20. Not sure about those numbers... but i was thinking of looking into where scotland would be ranked if the old firm were considered a seperate league from the rest of the SPL - of course this would change things like qualification entry levels, but neglecting that - would be interesting to see where the rest of the scots would finish each year without us and them... Not 100% sure there will be enough data to do that tho... cos individual clubs get a 3rd of their national points... It sounds confusing saying it out loud, but i seem to be able to follow it! Trick is to keep it simple and look at which thing you are looking at first (country vs club) then work out how the two are related (club influence national, while that national total is divided by 3 and ADDED to the individuals clubs tally that contributed to the former national total - hope someone managed to follow that! lol)
  21. Seems strange... would suggest that there are plenty others ahead of them that need more game time? Its 2 games in 2 days, so surely he'd get a whole game out of that? Not sure if its a positive or a negative thing. Feel sorry for Gow - really don't know whats happened there! (gow has been relegated to reserves for up coming games too!)
  22. god loves a trier Good luck Christian - though very glad you've moved on!
  23. cheers for the link - was just being lazy! lol I'm sure all this will still be relevant by the time the CL comes around for us, if no1 does write anything - i may have a bash trying to explain it around that time... pretty busy for the next two weeks at uni (big end of masters year project) and then im off to australia for 6 weeks! Hint Hint S_ally
  24. BINGO! You're spot on - so basically, we need to win the league for the next 9 hopefully 10 years () if we want a shot of qualifying. Would be a huge step to qualify via the runners-up route, especially as the bigger leagues just get stronger and stronger as they make more and more money, while thanks to the SPL our income and strength seems to be dwindeling. In a few years time there is a high chance of only getting one spot in champs league anyway! If you check the country standings on Bert Kassies site it will list them by score and says how many places they get (and if i recall correctly) the location at which they enter the tournament/qualifiers. If not his website, then I may have stumbled across it on the uefa site. Any way, the info IS out there, and not too complicated... or it shouldn't be for people who call themselves professional journalists! Winds me right up the misinformation they put out there! Hopefully BD and some of the others will have benefited from my ranting!
