I don't necessarily agree with your first two paragraphs but I will bow to your greater experience and knowledge of the inner workings of our stalwart footballing authorities. However, I do disagree with your last sentence. They have agreed that the fans engaged in "unacceptable conduct" therefore, in my eyes anyway, they are admitting that they as a club refused to prevent said conduct and since they knew of the banner being brought into the ground { remember they said that the banner was not approved implying that other banners were approved } they have to accept that what is on the banner has their approval. Otherwise what is the point of having stewards ( police ) scan fans as they enter? Ergo since they have stated ad nauseum, that they are in reasonably constant contact with the representatives of the GB, then they must stand as the only party that can be held responsible for such objectionable displays. No excuses are, or should be, acceptable to the fans of Scottish football. UEFA proved that they were unacceptable to the rest of European football.

I agree with this. Surely CFC are admitting they are culpable when they make the statement ... "Celtic condemned the display of the banners shortly after, saying they had not been approved by the club and were not welcome within the stadium." They must accept vicarious responsibilty for their stewards being lax in their remit when they allowed entrance to the banner but did not check its content. Even after what you've said BH you would think that CFC should be charged, if not under the Terrorism Act, then under the new OBA by the police. Also when they banned the GB for their behaviour, surely once again they were admitting that they were guilty of allowing an offence to take place.

How many neutrals in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee will turn up for this Highland derby? This is the SPFL'S showpiece, and if they insist that it be held in Glasgow then they should play it at Hampden. Many of the players will probably have had youthful dreams of playing at Hampden. Otherwise the obvious choice, to limit travel difficulties for the fans involved, should be Dingwall.

Two years ago, weren't these same club supporters - Aberdeen, St. Johsntone, Hearts & Celtic - united in their common comdemnation of Rangers? What could have broken that unity and resulted in this attack, assuming it happened of course? Indeed, what was the motivation for the alleged attack?

Here's the link ... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11781/9146866/celtic-claim-aberdeen-fans-spat-at-neil-lennon-at-tynecastle I've posted the last few lines of the article ... Police Scotland said they had received no reports surrounding the incident. A spokesperson said: "Police in Edinburgh have received no reports relating to assaults and abuse of anyone associated with Celtic Football Club or Heart of Midlothian Football Club following the match at Tynecastle." The Scottish Professional Football League, which is responsible for security at the game, have declined to comment. No corroborating witnesses ( apparently ), no complaint from Tynecastle Security, who do we believe?

If they miss the CL Group stages next season, I would think you might hear noises emanating from the east end. Somebody will have to take the blame.

Bye, bye. I suppose you will also be giving up your subscription to Rangers TV.tv?

Until that happens I won't hold my breath. Tell me what alternatives you have for the present situation with the board at Ibrox, right now, today. I thought so. Suck it up buttercup. There is more than you would dearly love to see another Bill Struth at Ibrox. It is what it is.

How many did you buy? You still think you have the right to judge? Seems to me you might consider that there are two kinds of life here - a) the life that should be, b) the life as it is. In which one do you live?

It's a pity that we have to depend on people like this buying a stake in Rangers to help us out. Nauseating in fact,eh? I mean, anybody that doesn't want their support, nor to be represented by them, could always buy them out I suppose. Until then I suppose we could just buy boak bags, and do the best we can.

For those of you who were disturbed by McMurdo's original piece, he has issued a second blog. viz: January 31, 2014 by billmcmurdo Defending The Rangers My piece earlier on Sandy Easdale’s threat to throw Craig Whyte down the marble staircase at Ibrox has been met with approval by many Gers fans. It’s good to know the Jock Wallace spirit lives on at Ibrox. Big Jock was not a man to suffer fools gladly and many bluenoses want this kind of attitude in the custodians of the club. However, there have been some fainthearts who have remarked that Sandy Easdale’s remarks are not befitting a Rangers director. Presumably the same people who always complain about dignified silence. These people seem to be so negative towards the board that they will use anything to disparage the directors of Rangers. So let me be specific. Sandy Easdale’s remarks were not any kind of neddish threat to inflict violence on Craig Whyte. They were said to emphasise Easdale’s determination to protect the club from people like Craig Whyte who are looking to harm it. It was definitely said tongue-in-cheek i.e. in a conversation where Sandy Easdale reiterated that Craig Whyte would not be welcome at Ibrox and would be escorted off the premises, even, as Sandy said, if he had to throw him down the marble staircase himself. It wasn’t a sinister threat and any attempt to convey it as such is mischief-making of the lowest degree. As I said, most Rangers fans that I have seen responding to it are appreciative of the proprietorial manner in which Sandy Easdale is defending the club. In short, it shows leadership and a willingness to confront anyone who would damage RFC. I certainly want that from the men who wear the blazers at Ibrox and I think most Gers fans feel the same. Those fans who think otherwise but who then whine about dignified silence are welcome to tell us how they would go about hitting back against the club’s detractors. Sandy Easdale is a cool customer and this has been a great attribute in his business life. If he loses his cool at those who want to hurt the Rangers then it only shows the passion he has for the club – a passion shared by thousands of bluenoses. I back the Easdales on this blog because I think they are doing a good job in shaping Rangers into a formidable force once more. They have put together an impressive board which has silenced critics and is working hard on making the club a lean, mean fighting machine. That process involves painful cost-cutting and that doesn’t suit everybody. Add to this the inescapable fact that the board is working in the face of opposition from Rangers-haters in Scottish football and the media, as well as hostility from a vocal minority in the club’s own support base. Being aware of where Sandy Easdale wants to take Rangers, I am behind him all the way – even although I might not agree with everything the board does. More importantly, those who have serious money invested in Rangers are more than comfortable with Sandy Easdale and the team he has put together. As for those timid wee souls that are scared that wee Craig might get hurt if he wanders up the staircase on Edmiston Drive, they can always hand in some pillows to put at the bottom of the stairs.

Surely, as leader of the pack in the SPL, the team which won the champion's share of the sponsorship money, in the interest of "sporting integrity", would trickle down an amount which would cover the "loss" of the expected sponsorship money and also share the TV money acquired in the CL group stages with its fellow SPL sides. In fact they may buy a player or two from each team to help cover their cash shortfall. After all, no one voted to make less money when the SPL rearranged itself. How many more will publish similar accounts? We wait to see ... Mr. Lunny, please stay on alert for any misdemeanours thay may expose themselves.

That was very funny watching these guys struggle with the vernacular. I doubt any of them comprehended Rabbie's message. I think Peralta's head would have exploded if they had asked him to read the piece.
-
It's worth it if that was the only way we could have got rid of them. Now we have a chance to build the team properly.

Five arrested after Celtic fan trouble at Motherwell match

They were not sectarian chairs, they were biggoted chairs because they were not green in colour - thus being objectionable and hence provoking the poor supporters present. -
Gordon Waddell : Selling Lee Wallace could be the only option for Rangers
barca72 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
All of them seem to want the Rangers support to accept the idea that we are handicapped and should accept this, hence slowing our rise to the top. No thank you, Wallace himself said there is no chance of administration 2. Deal with the situation but move forward and upward. -
I take it from your post that most Rangers people in the West of Scotland vote Labour and this is an entrenched situation. Instead of relying on Labour MP's, as they are now, to protect Rangers' political interests; and rather than allying ourselves with another party to our detriment, may I suggest that a possible solution could be that those who are worried about the politics of the situation as it stands should actually join the Labour party at the local level and hence influence who is able to stand as a candidate for each seat offered for election. This could be done not only at federal level but also at Glasgow City councillor level. How do you think ' they ' have managed to influence land deals etc. Probably it would take 5-10 years to effect the changes required and would require a commitment from our young and middle aged supporters to see it through. The mechanisms exist for our own protection - they have them, we want them, go take them back.

Good post, Andy. This mood too, shall pass. Especially after we gub Celtic the next time we meet them.

Are they within their rights to refuse to release this information? Is there a mechanism that would force them to release it?

This is all re-hashed stuff. Why isn't he doing an investigative piece on the Celtic land deals?

Too late Jackson. You make some salient points in this article but where were you when we needed you to say them 18 months ago, you and your MSM colleagues. You gave us no quarter then and we will give no quarter now. One thing you say is very true though - "And while so many old scores are being settled, Scottish football continues to hate itself to death." One thing you cannot say is that Rangers or her fans are culpable for that . Look to the corrupt cabal that all of you in the MSM supported for the actions taken then, and the horrendous league reconstruction. You know who the leaders are. Make them face their responsibilities now. For God's sake man, find a conscience.

Somebody in that organization should get a pat on the back. That is excellent initiative.
