  1. Strange appointment process. Someone remote from our club appoints someone remote from our club.
  2. What I am not clear about is who approached Somers, with a view to his becoming our chairman? Who interviewed him? Who decided that he was the most suitable candidate? I may be unfair but when he was appointed it was like a political party selecting some person, who knew little about the constituency and shoeing in that person to be their candidate in a winnable seat. Sure, there are good points in his statement but I just find it hard to believe that someone in their seventies, residing down in Sussex and with a seemingly average career record is likely to provide the leadership that is required to take our club forward.
  3. Think that you are being optimistic Frankie, if you expect the club to engage with the fans in an open fashion. They have had ample opportunity to do so and it is unlikely they would want to get involved at a time when the requisitioners are struggling to be convincing.
  4. Stockbridge and Irvine? Would. Be surprised if many would want them around the club much longer. Get the impression that many less consider Easdale to be unacceptable. Is this view shared?
  5. Don't know anything about Cathro other than what is included on this helpful thread. However, a fresh initiative with our youth programme at Auchenhowie is a welcome step.
  6. Hope that CG doesn't visit me.
  7. A repetition of what they have been saying for the past few weeks. I have no time for those currently in charge of our club but for me, the McColl/Murray group have been a source of disappointment.
  8. Unnecessary statement from Somers. Confused by the bit where he says that there can be no guarantee that each of these individuals will be found to be suitable to act as a director of the company. The no guarantee applies to everyone, including Somers himself. What about Stockbridge? Has he proved suitable? Hope that I am wrong but Somers could be a puppet on a string.
  9. The people who organised this meeting should be congratulated. A key item on the agenda is Q and A on the future of Rangers Football Club. It is difficult to see how that can be dealt with satisfactorily, unless there is a representation from board members. That seems unlikely. There is no way that they would want Stockbridge exposed. Easdale has consistently allowed Irving to do his talking so he won't fancy the prospect of being grilled. The new board members can say with some justification that they don't know enough yet. However, if our new CEO said that he felt that it was important to hear at first hand the views of supporters and agreed to turn up as an observer but not as a participant, that would send out a positive signal and such a gesture would get him off to a good start.
  10. While I have nothing but disgust for the people who clearly took too much money out of our club and whose main priority seemed to be to feather their own nests, I am becomingly less convinced by the McColl/Murray alternative. The main thrust of their case seems to be that they are bound to be better than the present lot. That may be so but they need to do more to explain why the two Murrays, Scott Murdoch and Alex Wilson are better than Somers, Crichton and Wallace. They are in no position to slag off James Easdale as he was not listed amongst the people that McColl wanted rid of. It is difficult to support the present board when a weak guy like Stockbridge is still around and who allowed money to flow out to dubious places. It is difficult too, to support people who engage Irving to speak on their behalf. However, the McColl/Murray group seem to have made errors in judgement that have weakened their position and for me, at least , have created doubts, as to whether they deserve the opportunity, to serve as custodians of our club.
  11. No skelp with any going on at Rangers. Quite true. Suspect that there very few who can be certain what is going on at Rangers right now.
  12. Lawell has too many allies in football circles and around the media for any meaningful action to be taken. Sadly that is the way it is likely to remain as no one takes anyone who speaks on behalf of Rangers seriously, for now. Like most of us they probably don't know, who is speaking on behalf of Rangers. Liawell's remarks will be passed off as a joke. Didn't happen that way with some of Green's remarks but that just confirms that Lawell has no shortage of allies.
  13. Can understand where you are coming from. However, when Doncaster was trying to push through his absurd 12-12-18 scheme, with the crazy mid-season splits, Scott Gardiner was on radio to say that this was the way forward. Now, it could be argued that he was just looking after the interests of Dundee but on the other hand, it reveals that his judgement is questionable. Does anyone seriously believe that Rangers should not be capable of attracting and appointing, as their CEO, someone of a higher calibre.
  14. Tim's being behind this from day one? Did they influence SDM to pass the ownership to CW? They have went out of their way to try to seriously damage us but our day one problems began before they got involved.
  15. While agreeing with your reading of the situation, RAB, I think we have all assumed that in the minimum of two seasons, before we could return to the top division and Europe, there will be a slim chance of any younger blokes in our Murray Park system, having established themselves in the first team. Pessimistic view , I know, but there is little to encourage me to think differently.
  16. The conditions were very difficult tonight and there was never a chance that free flowing football could be played. Dunfermline's up and at 'em approach added to the difficulty. All things considered, I thought we did OK.
  17. It would appear that in the judgement of Stockbridge and Easdale that Irvine is a suitable person to be the spokesman on behalf of the club. The same two will no doubt be exercising their judgement to appoint a new CEO, following the newspaper ad. Am I alone in fearing the worst?
  18. Probably. No high calibre person would be interested in coming into such an unstable environment and facing the uncertainty of not knowing if the people who hired you and who explained how they saw things developing, would be around for very long. When you think about it, does anyone believe that Stockbridge, Easdale or both, have the background experience, to choose a suitable candidate. Suspect that they are going through the motions but will have someone lined up who will suit their agenda.
  19. While I take no comfort in agreeing with anything that Lawell says, the King situation is a very complex issue and he is right not to say much until detailed information becomes available.
  20. While I am pleased but not surprised that we have improved over last year, there has to be questions asked of our coaching and player development, when only one of our starting eleven I.e. MacLeod, didn't join us from another club. This suggests to me that there is accuracy in the thread title of Wasted Years.
  21. If the Easdales are around they will be able to supply the ruthlessness required, with a bit to spare. After saying that, I would imagine that there would be better candidates than David Longmuir, around, to fulfil the CEO job.
  22. I am in no way saying you are wrong GS, I am just not sure how you achieve that. I guess that we all know that it is easier to make threats than to carry them out. Believe me I want to see the back of the chancers who have done untold damage to our club but I just feel that we should be prepared to recognise that there may well be a distinction between those who have flagrantly taken money out of the club for their own benefit and others who have invested and who have done so on a private and confidential basis.
  23. I confess to being a bit lost by all of this. What difference does it really make to know the identities of the mysterious investors? If their identities are revealed and we don't approve, what can we do about it, anyway?
  24. I may be wrong but I seem to recall SDM drafting in a lawyer, I think his name was Cockburn, to chair AGM's.
