Totally agree. We need some substance to back this up. Somehow I doubt we'll get it.
-
It's early days but the noises from Coisty and the brief evidence on those vids is that Gow could be one of our better signings!
-
Sorry Buba, I dont want to hear about pipedreams until i've seen this moonbeam of success SDM keeps talking about.
-
If Gordon goes on to fulfil his undoubted potential then I reckon £8m would look like a steal.
-
I think it's the age old 'takes time to settle in' stuff. Add to that the physical nature of our game which makes it harder to settle as these guys come in from the continent and get no time on the ball. Bottom line though, I reckon they just dont fancy putting in the required effort, unlike Hemdani. Maybe the weather is a factor too. Not many of them will have had to cope with freezing cold driving rain coming in off the North Sea on a chilly November night in Inverness.

It was more a prediction than a conclusion but I take your point. It's early days yet, so those who are throwing away their season books etc are jumping the gun a little.
-
Agreed, I said in another thread that I reckon there will not be much between next seasons first pick XI's when both fit. It'll be the strength of squad that might be the telling factor over the whole season and in that area Celtic may be ahead of us.
-
Excellent news IMO. Too many players have arrived at Ibrox in the past 2/3 seasons and not fancied it. They've then quickly realised that if they dont put the effort in and generally look disinterested, then Martin Bain will come along with his big cheque book and give them a big pay off. The other side of the coin is that players know that when they sign that the management will back them and not just give up when the going gets tough.

It's a big summer for our club and will be interesting to see how Celtic's Bertie Big Baws posturing will pan out in terms of their team next season. If they buy big, as it seems they meet, yet their team is not streets ahead of the competition then you would have to ask, is it all worth it? My initial thoughts though, are that Celtic have a higher level of squad player to back up their first picks. This might become apparent towards the end of next season once injuries and suspensions kick in. I dont really see Celtic being that much better than us if we both have our first XI fit.

Would agree with that. Corner's should be a weapon when you have someone with his ability at dead balls. How many times have we scored from corners this season? Not enough for my liking. Set pieces should be bread and butter and we should expect a goal every 4/5 games.

Certainly puts a few things in perspective. SDM - pull the finger out!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH6_tDFUE-E Dont know if this has been mentioned yet but I'm hearing we may be looking at a part exchange with Sionko as the makeweight in a possible deal for this guy deal. Doesn't look too bad but am loathe to judge on a couple of clips. After all, even Sebo didn't look too bad on the wee video I saw of him prior to signing.

I'm annoyed when I miss him any time he's on the radion. Is there any chance of getting a heads up on when he will be doing any radio/tv interviews? (I guess the RST would probably be a good starting point)

not many would disagree with that. what exactly does he do to justify that salary?

st etienne 47 now! Cheers!

Got 46 so far. A few of them are annoying me as I know them but cant remember.
-
I'm not old enough to remember the details of what you say but I agree with the sentiment. If WS can entice Fowler to Ibrox and give him back his hunger and predator instinct I reckon it would be an SPL winning decision. It's taking a chance, but, as I've said previously, what other options do we have given our current financial constraints?
-
If we could structure his wages to have a relatively low basic wage with good appearance & goal bonus then why not? He's clearly not the player he was but his goals to starts ratio in the past couple of seasons is decent and he would have a field day against SPL defences.
-
thats always the chance you take - mr lovenkrands being a prime example. still though, its gotta be a more effective strategy than waiting until they sign to get a proper feel for how they might find being a fully fledged rangers player. have to admit though, nothing beats an effective scouting network who know what they are looking for an do an in depth analysis of prospective signings and their suitability.

in the market we are operating within, it makes sense to have a look at players close up in order to assess how they will fit in with the scottish mentality, culture, style of football and way of life. if it means we bring over a few trialists for some 'try before you buy' style transfers then i'm all for it it, but only If it means we dont end up taking on capuchoesque duds.
-
The first of many methinks. Am still holding out hope that we'll get one big name player and Jean-Claude Darcheville doesn't count even if his name is name is 21 letters long.
-
To be fair, it's been his consistency for the last couple of months that everyones raving about and generally that he's the most improved player since WS took the reins.

Noticed this on Newsnow earlier. Should provide excellent exposure for Gersnet so, yet again, a big well done to Frankie.
