This latest failure, what's PLG's part in it all?
stewarty replied to ascender's topic in Rangers Chat
Completely agree with that. -
Would be one back for us given Pressley & Miller's recent defections!

Speaking as a Scotland and Rangers fan I dont want to see us taking a step backwards with Walter Smith. He's doing a cracking job with the national team and I wouldn't want to see them thrown into turmoil at a time when we have an outside chance of causing an upset i.e. qualifying for the next Euro's ahead of the likes of the Ukraine, France & Italy (not all of them though). Coisty, well thats another matter. He's exactly the kind of presence I would love to see at Ibrox perhaps as a number 2 to someone else with a bit of experience. Not sure if he's quite ready to be the main man yet but given time he could be. Back to Walter, I just dont want to have all the great memories of 9IAR tainted if he comes back and is unsuccesful. The way our support seem to turn on the managers these days could put him off. The other option is that he comes back in some capacity to steady the ship for a short period whilst still being Scotland manager. That option could be the death of him as national manager. Can you imagine if he picks Rangers players ahead of Celtic players and vice versa? Cant see an experienced head like WS wanting to go down that route.

I may be wrong but did PLG not state that he was interested in and kept tabs on all good young scottish players. IIRC he didn't deny that he was interested in Brown & Thompson which only stoked the fire on the story..,

I'll second that motion. Who needs fancy passing moves anyway...

If all that comes out of this is that Ferguson finally accepts that his style of captaincy/moaning needs to change for the good of the team then thats no bad thing. However, it should have been done behind closed doors and Ferguson should have had been called into the office to discuss how PLG wants him to behave. I realise this appears to have happened and they appeared to have agreed to disagree but how many chances can the manager give him to change his ways. God, I'm fed up speculating about whats happened. The outcome I'd like to see is BF and PLG to kiss and make up and then have a press conference to present a united front. It's an adage of the 9iar days that a team that drinks together wins together. Murray should get the whole squad round to his gaff and lay on copious amounts of his vineyards wine and get them all sloshed. Hopefully they'll then at least be pulling in the same direction. PLG might not like this element of Scottish football but it cant hurt, can it? At least then there might be an appreciation of the merits of each style - the continental and the Rangers way. This clash was always going to happen but they both need to swallow a bit of pride and appreciate what each person brings to the table. As Le Guen keeps saying - it's about respect. If they cant do that then something has to give. From what Le Guen has said he seems to be open to some form of reconcilliation. Lets hope this is the real start of Le Revolution. A season ticket holder friends of mine commented that Barry has, on a couple of occasions at least, refused to pass to Sebo when he has a clear run at goal. Sebo's not been playing that great but surely it's one of the captains responsibilities to take new players under his wing and play the right pass. It cant do Sebo's confidence any good if the captain clearly doesn't rate him enough play the obvious pass in his direction.
-
Agreed. He may have his faults but not everything can be blamed on Murray.
-
That must mean that Murray will be speaking to the press in the next 24/48 hours. Not a bad thing IMO as anything that may be said on Rangers TV is only likely to undermine an already bad situation. Sir David, we await your announcement...
-
Cant see it. If there was no foundation to the story it would be dismissed out of hand.
-
Happy new year, eh!? Need to wait and see what the story is but this is very dissapointing at a time when we need positive stories and big money signings. Our first big story of the new year should have been about signing a big experienced centre-half. Things can only get better. How can they get any worse?
-
stay. make or break time for him though. he needs to show why we were excited at the prospect of him taking over because right now he's a laughing stock.
-
Interesting indeed. For the first time in 2 1/2 seasons Mourinho is under pressure and he's not coping well. Looks like the transfer window might just save their season. Any bets on how much they'll spend?
-
James McFadden would be a decent signing but I doubt he'd come because he's doing not bad with Everton and seeing plenty of action.
-
This transfer window is really 'make or break' for PLG. If he doesn't get it right then I cant see a way back. He needs to make some astute signings (min 2) which add enough experience & depth to secure 2nd spot in the league. Forget the UEFA cup although it's a nice distraction. If he cant pinpoint what is going wrong, even with everyone telling him, then he should leave as there's no place at our club for such pig-headed nonsense.

Oh well. I truly hope Le Guen and Murray have an ace up their collective sleeves as Pressley represents the type of player we need right now and now he's joined 'them'. There aren't many of his type around (whether you like him or not), and even fewer of them are available at a price we can afford.

Can I throw a defensive midfielder in to the mix?
-
Their luck is bound to run out at some point. Hearts seem to be in a wee bit of form now that Ivanauskas has returned so hopefully they could be the side to turn them over...
-
I'd like to agree with that but cant. It's in turbulent times such as the last few months that you need your experienced campaigners to step up and be counted. Granted he's had an injury and it takes time with so many players trying to settle but J-Rod didn't do what you would expect i.e. stand up and be counted, lead by example etc etc. If a club wants him and we can get a few quid (I reckon a £100k- £200k would be realistic) then we should take it.
-
Can see J-Rod moving on. He's struggled to get a game ahead of less experienced players so the timing would be good if we can get a couple of hundred k for him
-
Wija72 aka Finbar Saunders (and his double entendres)

Does Martin & Bardsley count?

The papers are miffed because PLG gives them so little in terms of quotes, insight etc. When he's asked about Fergie and Boyd etc he just flatlines them with the 'I dont want to talk about that' type of attitude which just annoys lazy arsed journos even more that they would be normally and they then create stories out of nothing. I've lost count of the number of times that anyone from Rangers gets quoted one day and then re-quoted about 50 times over the course of the next fortnight. The reason? Well, as I say above - they've got nothing to go on. As I type this I'm beginning to wonder. Is this because PLG doesn't like people questioning his management or is this a deliberate ploy by the club to give the previously mentioned lazy arsed hacks absolutely nothing to go on because all they do is print tripe?

Celtic get AC Milan (and other Champions League draw)
stewarty replied to bmck's topic in General Football Chat
Good draw for Celtic. If they'd got PSV and gone out then they'd be gutted whereas a drubbing for Milan is no shame.
