I read on BBC's gossip page that it's back on and could be completed soon after all. What a saga.

Was ill last night apparently and is expected to be out of commission for 48 hours. So says Ally McCoist.

Seeing as he's the first signing we've made in 2 years, I thought a full thread dedicated to how he got on today would be a good idea. Personally I thought he seemed pretty sharp in the first half, and for a cracking save would have scored a smart half volley. Second half he faded out as expected but really should have done better when he had that run through on goal near the start of the second 45. Overall expect him to gain more understanding with his team mates in time, but for now I'd say he's not a bad acquisition for about £1.5M.

We've been linked to this guy for about 4 weeks now, but in the past 2 weeks timmy's come in for him as per. Just have to see how this one goes I suppose.
-
Now it's Celtic who look to be signing him. Naturally.

That's what I mean - Thomson's massive wage rise would have made him likely more expensive than McCulloch. -
I for one am pleased with this signing. He's a natural goalscorer who will do well in the SPL, and his EPL experience may help in the CL. Ok, he's not David Villa, but I can't help but consider this a shrewd piece of business.

The ball really is in Jelavic's court. If he's owed money, it's up to him to decide if he wants to demand that money, or write it off and get the move to Rangers. In reality, if you're owed a sum of cash, what would you do?

Posted a full thread about this.

Can safely say I've not heard of him but this is the second LB we've been linked to in recent weeks.

McCulloch was cheaper? -

The Italians know something the Scots, Croats and Austrians don't?

An asset to the squad, has really proved himself in the last 12 months and one I'm delighted to hold onto. -
Smith's called it 'all but dead'. And it must be said it's Jelavic who's causing this because the club's have agreed a fee and we seem to have agreed wages. He's whinging about money he claims Wien owe him and that's the stumbling block.
-
It started slowly but there's built up an avalanche of speculation and talks and links, but not one single new signing yet.

I'd take Beattie, natural goalscorer who'd do a turn in the SPL and his EPL experience may help in the CL. I know almost nothing about Smith.- 164 replies

Thomson was also completely over rated tbh. A decent workmanlike midfielder whose peak was the OF match at Ibrox and maybe the 3-3 against Dundee Utd at Ibrox some seasons back. Far too many anonymous and inneffective displays - a player I was quite indifferent about leaving us. But you do have a point about the new age football fan - it's a breed I don't quite understand. They seem to agonise over the sport but don't quite get the game.
-
I was under the impression he also wasn't happy with our £15k wage offer.

To put it simply Miller has always played his best football under Walter Smith. For the national team he was excellent under him, and he's been an excellent signing for us under Smith, despite all our misgivings. It's a blend that works. If he left he'd probably deteriorate into mediocrity again - and he's one of our most important players. Anyone watching the Newcastle match saw his predatory instinct and class finishing at work - sure, sometimes he hoofs them to row Z, but name me a striker who never misses.
-
No matter what Kyle Lafferty does, some will always hate him. He's been the club scapegoat since Rothen departed.
-
I don't mean in terms of financial infrastructure, I just mean our game in general. The quality of it is completely dire and I can't see how we can become any more backwater than we already are.
-
Miller is one of our marquee players. He's an absolute must-keep.
-
I think he's cursed it completely...
